I've been watching the comments on some of the Yahoo (MSM) articles and surprisingly by far, most approvals are for Snowden and there are many comments pissed at .gov, apparently in direct contradiction to polls saying most Americans think monitoring them is OK.

Wait till the guy releases the rest of the stuff he's promised. So far all he's really done is give our owners the excuse to tighten up more in the name of security. Bear in mind he hasn't told us anything we didn't know so far. I still remember the promise to realease BOA stuff that would demolish said bank.
The fact that he has basically just confirmed what we already know is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
He has not endangered any operatives or agents or uncovered any vital secrets other than that we are being lied to.

I am demoing a new account now called Hush-mail. The problem is most people use hotmail, gmail, yahoo or a carrier. I am doing this primarily to protect the privacy of purchasers.
I don't use email for anything that requires encryption.
I habitually avoid putting anything I don't want compromised in digital form in the cloud. That is my low tech solution.

I agree with you that the story has a lot of holes. If I had to make a monetary bet I say that he was prepared for disinformation campaign.
First thing I noticed was his salary: $200k, more than a US senator. Commentators here stated but with overtime he was probably making $200k ($122k actual). You really don't get overtime or bonuses: this is not IB job.
Soviets, more then one have send "defectors" with false information only to have the defector be a double agent.
There's a lot more to this. We'll find out in coming weeks and months. Those who like the first story will refuse to believe it. Conspiracy time again.
