STaSi USA...
The Stasi are peeping through holes
Fulfilling tyrannical goals
Dear Uncle Sam
Your safety's a sham
With tyrants behind the controls
The Limerick King
Our liberty's under attack
Our freedom is starting to crack
At tyranny's rise
A proud nation dies
And rights begin fading to black
The Limerick King
Distrust in his government peaks
And lies every time that he speaks

Listen to the media shills and their overlords in their attempts to sully this man with words like traitor, betrayal, treason and treachery.
Who has been betrayed?
We the people, that's who.
Not me the Despot.
These are well calibrated and reasonable tools for your protection vetted by our constitutional experts led by our esteemed Attorney General.
Not we the feckless Congress.
We didn't know, we didn't attend the briefings.
Not we the feckless Judges.
Our lips are sealed.
We the people...
Q: What is the Constitution?
A: A piece of paper?
Wrong--
We the people...that's who!
Who has betrayed the trust of "we the people"?
The corrupt liars and scoundrels who constantly tell us they know what is best for us?
Or the man who stands and points to the bad moon rising: Don't go out tonight!
Trust us...
Fuck that Stasi DC bull shit and the statist kleptofraudocratic horse it rode in on!

Captain Yossarian: The only friend I had was Snowden and I didn't know him.--Catch 22

Only those in the shadows know for sure
The thing to understand is, he named no one, although he might have been in a position to do so, he compromised no ones life or operation. He only let us know how they are doing it...as if we didn't already suspect it...lol.
That to me is the difference.
He thought it through, he's a patriot.
I hear what you are saying but why would they 0 has done everything he's been told to do by his masters and could be cia himself. Then may be 2 forces inside cia are in turf fight.
Could it be that this kid just had enough? Could it be that he just couldn't live with himself knowing to what extent he was participating in building the totalitarian state? I'm all for exploring the why and I do subscribe to Occam's razor so could it be that he just had a moment of clarity, of peace: that he no longer feared death and realized we are at a precipice...a tipping point and the only thing we needed was a little push?
You had me at hello...but then again, maybe it WAS the two pieces of bad pizza that grew a conscience. In sunsteinish, it's not referred to as a "little push"... it's a nudge.
I had a lunch conversation with a group of colleagues today who were undecided on whether they supported the actions of Edward Snowden or not. I pointed out that likely he struggled between two competing points... one that he swore an oath and the other that his conscience was troubled by what he knew. I likened it to a friend swearing you to secrecy and then telling you they intended on killing themselves. In such a case one may find themselves bound by both the promise to keep silent, and the promise to seek help and care for a dear friend. In the end you will violate one promise or another. What would you have chosen......?
This analogy clarified for a couple of them the fact that Snowden's revelation was the appropriate path.
Well if you have been in a US airport recently then you endlessly heard the announcement by the Stasi state DHS/TSA police - "if you see something, say something." A sickening slogan straight from any police state.
Well Edward Snowden "saw something and he said something" so F U Feinstein. Prism is a violation of the 4th Amendment you bitch.
Young people have a poster boy (man) hero that they should rally around. Here is a young person risking everything for their and our future. If this kid is the real deal - young Americans and all Americans should rally around him. I think people worldwide should rally around him.
Ditto with Mr. Binney.
In England you are constantly reminded to report unattended packages in a public venue for good reasons. But it is nowhere near as obnoxious as the style of the TSA. They remind me of a Phillip K Dick novel, Man in the High Castle. I think it began with the term Homeland Security. That Homeland jargon put them in an ideological as opposed to strictly technical mind frame. Either way, they are thugs at heart.
I don't think they're 'thugs' wmbanzai7 - I think they're just 'afraid.'
i'm not one for psychoanalyzing the bullies passive aggressiveness. you can bend over backwards to understand these people, but you're going to get reamed.
Your colleagues were falling for the Pepsi challenge... "We choose Coke!"... like there's a genuine Cargill/ADM choice in the high fructose industrial complex. Too many Sunday morning talk show TV Hegelian commercials... bring good things to life. Eventually you confuse free will with freedom of choice. I pick Verizon, no... UPS. I'm free!... and declared mature enough to debate the false dichotomy of "modest encroachments."
I choooose... semi-modest... no.... uhhh... I want ultra-modest... How 'bout a Sears "Good-Better-Best" modality of modesty? That's easy... like an Easy Button for liberty. Heck with Franklin's Republic... you can keep it lady, I'll text in my vote for democracy. /sarc off.
This is a job for Eddie Lampert and the K-mart team... back when a blue light flashing meant you were getting something "special", not just an unwarranted home invasion or bullet ridden bass boat.

one that he swore an oath
There is no oath because he was a contractor he agreed to never tell, it's not the same thing. I do beleive we need to know what the socalled govt of the people is doing. It sure looks like the rest of the world is pissed as so should the citizens of this nation.
Oath? Is that like when Clapper swore to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?
But you do have to sign a document declaring your silence under threat of legal action (as in Mitch Rapp get even type action).
...understanding the potential for errors in my argument, yet fervently attempting to engage the curious in the tiny window of time they will consider the options.
