Word of the week: Agents provocateur
Undercover agents sent into peaceful protests, who then proceed to destroy property, break windows, light cars on fire, engage in violence with police, in order to provide a pretext for their violent intervention, tear gas, batons, shields, etc. The protestors are then branded thugs and vandals.
No.1 way to break up a peaceful protest, is to keep the protestors from being seen as peaceful.
Was truly sad to see that always be the case back in my activist days.
