OT, but only slightly, perhaps? WB7, do you take requests?
I see where Hitlary wants to start her campaign; the first image released is her facial features, surmounting the word "ready". Can we think of some other mottos for her efforts?
1) Hillary lied, four Americans died (perhaps with photos of the slain beneath)
The news on the NSA is bothersome in and of itself....one might assume it is just an overeaching rogue agency...but then we have the IRS going after groups wanting to minimize the Federal Government's control of our lives, and Homeland Sekurity buying enough ammo to fight 20 wars, the use of drones domestically, and the never ending attempts by the government to disarm the average citizen.
Despite their minions and money and huge buildings scattered about the country, a young loner with four laptops is bringing the motherfuckers to their knees. Perhaps one's hope for better lies not with well armed citizens, but rather with some smart kids who can write code.
A sane, legitimate government would be able to laugh Snowden off. Something like this...
"Yes, there's some truth in what he is saying, but not much. Here's what's really happening..."
As I pointed out in a local Libertarian meeting last night. This is not about Snowden, the man. It is about grinding this man into pulp to prevent future Snowdens. Land of the free, home of the brave, indeed.
This whole thing reminds me a bit of a modern 3 Days of the Condor. I just wish the MSM would get the fuck off of "Where's Eric" and start asking the important question of how the fuck warrantless survailing of every electronic communication on Earth w/o any oversight is OK under the Constitution.
I also want to know where the f'n secret FISA court gets jurisdiction to authorise survailance on US comminications. It's the FOREIGN Intelligence Survailance Act fer Christ's sake.
I flipped through Bilderbooger Schmidts book in the bookshop yesterday. It is the most disingenuous piece of tech nonsense imaginable.
Oh what a beautiful world Big Data will be. The risk of government intrusion into our civil liberties is a small price to pay and empowered citizens will fight the good fight. But how?
To what end? Big Data Bro is watching you. A utopian cloud of idiots pacified by playing mindless game Apps, sharing nonsense and being bombarded with targeted ads. This is essentially what he is suggesting is the global panacea.
There is absolutely no reason to believe that any court or legislator has the brains or wherewithal to counter the incursions enabled by the technological changes which are close to gaining terminal velocity.
Everyone should send a donation to the EFF.
I love technology, but it is time to be extremely vigilant and proactive about the kind of digital utopian nonsense we are spoon fed by people who are primarily driven by their stock price.
Bank Guy
always respect your opinion.
One glaring flaw in your observation is that you want to tie Zionism/Israel under One umbrella.
Some other lesser mortal than you wanted to tie me colour wise with Obama ( mixed race ) and am still feeling upset about that; same as some very constructive warm jewish people must feel when targeted.
STASI USSA= ZIONISTS=BANKSTERS=WARLORDS
Bank Guy am not saying it's that simple but the real Enemies of the State in the US & Israel will be Outed by the good citizens of the US & Israel most likely.
Indeed it is, and we are in your debt for it. Gratitude and mirth (even if sometimes a bit mordant) make a great combination. Hats off to you, Banzai7.
Great stuff, Banzai. You know things are fucked up when Jullian Assange is a modern day Harriet Tubman. Shot calling Snowden's underground railroad to freedom. Freedom Riderz 2013...
Just to keep open the lines of contrarian thinking and open-mindedness re Snowden and Assange ...
Common characteristic: 3 popular 'dissident heroes', all deeply criticising America ... BUT
They are all accused of 'limited hang-out', working to deflect attention away from US - Israel ...
(a) Alex Jones of Prison Planet & Infowars ... has a lot of great stuff BUT
he stays away from Zionism & Israel, Alex has a Jewish wife ... Bilderbergers to the max but no Israel ... 11 Sept 2001 stuff but NOT the Israeli involvement that day
(b) Julian Assange and Wikileaks - Good friend of Israel, checks with Israel for 'ok' before releasing Wikileaks material, the big 'Wikileaks dump' very favourable to Israel ... and Assange denounces the 'truthers' re 11 Sept 2001
(c) Now Eric Snowden, pumped by big media unlike the previous five and more NSA whistleblowers who are kept on 'conspiracy' sites ... pumped by the daughter of Zbigniew Brzezinski, Trilateral Commission advisor to US Presidents for nearly 40 years, architect of the US endless Asian wars ... Pumped by pro-Israel Assange ... And Snowden, so far anyway, not speaking much of the huge involvement of Israel and Israeli companies with the NSA and all the surveillance
Tho I wish Snowden safe haven ... I remain cautious
Americans may swallow even that their own US gov't pulled down the Twin Towers on 11 Sept 2001 ... but they would almost certainly truly revolt if they realised, as a former President of Italy said, that Israel & Mossad did it for the US oligarchs ... and that Israeli companies are helping run all the NSA spying operations
I agree with Mr. Banzai in his post below. Snowden may manage to awaken the anger of the American middle class to the erosion of their privacy, their liberties. If he can energize the return to US Constitutional values without directly attacking Israel, he might ignite the Second American Revolution.
At this point in time Americans are not ready or willing to move beyond their Judeo Christian roots. Nothing will budge them, not even dancing Isrealis in Jersey City on 9/11/2001. That particular transition is not yet in the cards. Soon, but not quite yet.
Snowden may be a well planned operation, but so far I like where he is taking the media and attention.
You should consider this. It is well known that the civlian tech industry in Israel is an extension of the Israeli military defense establishment, for many reasons. The NSA's collaboration with Israeli intelligence has been well publicized as a result of STUXNET, which I have seen mentioned in many articles this past week.
However, if someone like Snowden exposes himself to the familiar accusation of "Zionist Conspiracy Theorist" the entire pro-Israel circus will roll in and the basic constitutional revelations, which have now been made in a very concise and pointed way, would get conveniently drowned in all of the cacophony that would surely ensue. The MSM would have all the cannon fodder they would need.
So as interesting as it would be to hear, I would rather see this whistle blowing affair remain focused on the basic indefensible fact of US government surveillance of its own citizens.
Good points. The "defamation league" (surely in a league (class) of their own making) would go above and beyond in their response. Make no mistake, Israel is pulling the strings in this coordinated effort to get Snowden and put him on trial in the US but until he's making noise directed against Israel they don't have to show their hands. Once they get officially involved, they will rally public opinion in their favor. He's better advised to keep focused on US fascism without identifying who is bankrolling the operations and where the brain trust is located.
indefensible fact of US government surveillance of its own citizens.
I think that the problem is much larger than that. The US only collected 3 billion pieces of intelligence from US sources in March 2013 and 94 billion pieces of intelligence from the rest of the world. The problem is vast surveillance of all of humanity and the close cooperation between US tech companies and the NSA. Does the USA steal economic secrets from the rest of the world? How much does it cost the world in economic terms? How much dirt does the USA have on foreign politicians and business and military leaders due to this unprecedented levels of illegal snooping?
The problem is the complete dominance over the world sought by the US by illegal means - a full spectrum dominance - military, political and economic dominance. Will the world stand for that?
Today China denounced the US snooping:
"In a sense, the United States has gone from a model of human rights to an eavesdropper on personal privacy, the manipulator of the centralized power over the international internet, and the mad invader of other countries' networks,"
If Russia or China were collecting 97 billion pieces of intelligence a month, it would be considered an act of war by the West. The sheer magnitude is stunning. The US complains that China gets $200 to $300 billion economic advantage due to its snooping. How much economic advantage does the US get by its snooping?
The rest of the world will stop buying US telecommunications products like iPhones. How many people in China or Hong Kong will now consider iPhones knowing that Apple cooperates with NSA? Will their phone be hacked by a convenient backdoor provided by Apple?
China has already replaced all its Cisco routers. Many in the world will follow. The fallout from the Snowden affair has just begun.
“The word treason has been batted around in recent days, [but] we need to ask who has betrayed who?... Is this [Snowden’s revelations] betraying the citizens of the world, or betraying some elites that are in power in a certain country?”
The simple truth is that what Snowden has exposed is a conspiracy by the Obama administration, the US intelligence agencies and other arms of the state apparatus against the democratic rights of the American people and humanity as a whole.

Other suggestions?
Personally, I find the Govt.'s interest in my interests and well being most heartwarming and, frankly, quite gracious.
Some of you complainers would do well to remember that 'good lovin' is always expensive, so pay those taxes.
Dark Helmet, please pull down your face shield
And what do we got on this thing; a Cuisinart?
The news on the NSA is bothersome in and of itself....one might assume it is just an overeaching rogue agency...but then we have the IRS going after groups wanting to minimize the Federal Government's control of our lives, and Homeland Sekurity buying enough ammo to fight 20 wars, the use of drones domestically, and the never ending attempts by the government to disarm the average citizen.
Taken together there is an obvious pattern.
Rejoice. There is hope.
Despite their minions and money and huge buildings scattered about the country, a young loner with four laptops is bringing the motherfuckers to their knees. Perhaps one's hope for better lies not with well armed citizens, but rather with some smart kids who can write code.

All the things that could never happen here, are happening.
The government reaction to Snowden is so much more revealing than anything he or we could have said about them.
The good news is, the fuckers are too stupid to understand that.

Yes, but there is no constitutional provision protecting the rest of the world.
The rest of the world can only try to take the moral high ground, which is not very easy given that everyone is doing or trying to do the same thing.
