Trying to teach a Russian woman the rules of baseball has been a challenge for me over the years. Mrs M has just suggested, much to my surprise, that we should go to the Rox game tonight with the kids. I think that it is a good idea. It's not even affiliated MLB A ball but close to it and was the last level at which I played baseball. Besides, it will be an oppurtunity to inform my son that there is no crying in baseball.

In the three stooges the set up is they are in a location where everything is orderly, clean, neat, and pleasant, a dry cleaners, a plumber's shop, or a private home they are going to work at. Then they start to do a job. By the end of the scene the location looks like a bomb has gone off in it, some terrible disaster has struck.
At least the Stooges kept it on one imaginary set while the current crop of stooges in charge are trashing a whole country and pat of a world.

As for a little unintentionally creative parental guidance on my part, I have managed to instill some sense in my two year old boy already. You see, he is quite fond of using the word "bullshit". I am sure he picked that word up from his mother somehow... At any rate, this causes his Mother some embarrassment in public because if he does not like the looks of someone he points at them and says "you bullshit" rather loudly. If a baby is crying in a store he says "you baby bullshit". At least his Mother can go full scale Russian and make up excuses that he is mispronouncing a Russian word and everyone seems to believe it. Except for me because I know what he is saying and he articulates it perfectly.
I just arrived home a few minutes ago and Mrs. M and Mrs. M-in-law were and STILL are skyping each other. I said privyet to MMIL(F) and asked if she knew that in fact she had THREE grandchildren instead of just two? This was said because another eight year old girl practically lives here and eats all of our food. I let it go because clearly that child's mother has issues and the father has split the scene, (I've met her) and this girl is a smart kid. I actually gave her a BU silver dime(in a holder) about a month ago or so and sat down and explained to her why it was worth more than other dimes and that she needs to save it and save others like it. I got out the numi books and everything. But wouldn't it be more fair if my daughter went over to their place once in a while and ate up some of their food? What the fuck, am I the local food shelf or what? I digress. Junior immediately chimed in, "bullshit". He is correct if by default. Hey, default is another word I can teach him come to think of it but first things first.
At this point, Mrs M turned around to give me the universal female look of disapproval, which, I might add, I am completely impervious to by now, and began to complain about his language usage. I cut her short and said "Hey, look, this is the New United States and realistically, all children born here should be learning that word at a very early age because they sure as hell are going to be using it a lot when they are older." Upon translation MMIL(F) immediately burst out laughing. So it goes.:-)

Well considering our powers that be seem to have all the altruism and descrection that a child in the terrible twos displays but without any redeeming cuteness factor I'm not surprised that a two year old recognizes the con.
Every parent thinks their kid is the best ever and most special but not me. I will not mollycoddle my children. This being the second time through for me with raising shmildren, I figured that if I get started early, I can circumvent some of the propaganda that will be poured upon my son in his future. Realistically though, I believe it to be a genetic trait. That young son of mine has no time for bullshit even though he creates it sometimes. Junior has this look that he gives you; a piercing blue eyed stare that looks through your soul. Junior is looking you right in the eye and calculating who and what you are about. Of late, we have taken to having staring contests with each other with no words spoken yet meaning is communicated. Of course I always win those contests but one day I will not win.
He wants to be able to do things by himself but can't do all of those things. I won't help him unless he asks me for it. Let him learn on his own and let him learn the hard way sometimes. I encourage his stubbornness and take solace in that there is a chance that there might be one to replace me, hopefully at a higher level, when I am gone. It's too early to tell and my kids are no more special than anyone else at this point but I am perceptive and I see that they have bright minds. Mrs M and I have been active in promoting our own curriculum for the daughter using Singapore Math curriculum and her last math scores were greatly improved.
I think that sometimes people misunderstand me. In fact, I know that they do and have. I have had this problem my entire life. Part of it comes from when I was a child and there are some things that I really have not discussed before because I did not think anyone cared much. It's not that I had a bad childhood or anything and in fact I would not trade it for the world. I have alluded to the fact that I grew up alone for the most part but have done so in bits and pieces here and there. I grew up alone in the woods of northwestern Wisconsin. You are on your own and you had best think twice before you make a decision because there usually is no bailout option lest a neighbor can get there to help in a hurry. I learned the hard way a lot of times but I was free to run about. My dad passed away when I was six months old and mom never remarried. That's as far as I am willing to go except to add that the family elders are all passed now and the burden now falls entirely upon my shoulders. So be it.
I have seen what it is. I am only 39 years old but I get it and I feel like I am 100 years old. I know this much, you never give up what it is that you are trying to accomplish and seek wise council if you can find it. Realistically, it is not huge sums of money that I seek but rather a sense of peace, honesty and the ability to self-determine for one's own well being to determine that which I need to be content in life so long as I do this on my own volition and not by state mandate. I choose my own path instead of the state making every little decision for me.
I will never consent to being told what to do or what to think or what to write and that is a problem for most people. If I need your help, I will ask. STOP shoving state mandated "help", that I do not want, down my throat, at my expense, that I do not need. I do not want it and I do not need it and realistically you can't provide it anyway. You are simply ripping me off.
