What REALLY Caused the Coup Against the Egyptian President

George Washington's picture

The protests in Egypt against president Mohammed Morsi were – according to the BBC – the largest in history.

The Egyptian military threw Morsi out in a coup today.

Why?

Irish Times reports:

Army concern about the way President Mohamed Morsi was governing Egypt reached tipping point when the head of state attended a rally packed with hardline fellow Islamists calling for holy war in Syria, military sources have said.

***

Mr Morsi himself called for foreign intervention in Syria against Mr Assad, leading to a veiled rebuke from the army, which issued an apparently bland but sharp-edged statement the next day stressing that its only role was guarding Egypt’s borders.

***

“The armed forces were very alarmed by the Syrian conference at a time the state was going through a major political crisis,” said one officer, whose comments reflected remarks made privately by other army staff. He was speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not permitted to talk to the media.

***

For the army, the Syria rally had crossed “a national security red line” by encouraging Egyptians to fight abroad, risking creating a new generation of jihadists, said Yasser El-Shimy, analyst with the International Crisis Group.

At the heart of the military’s concern is the history of militant Islam in Egypt, homeland of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri. The military source condemned recent remarks made by “retired terrorists” allied to Mr Morsi, who has deepened his ties with the once-armed group al-Gamaa al-Islamiya.

Obama had recently sent American troops to prop up Mursi, and the protesters were furious at the U.S. for backing Islamic radicals.

(The U.S. backed Egypt's previous dictator, as well).

Support of Western intervention in Syria was also one of the main causes of the recent enormous protests in Turkey … which came close to toppling the Turkish leadership.

Indeed, the American government has been providing arms, money and logistical support to Al Qaeda in Syria, Libya, Mali, Bosnia and other countries – and related Muslim terrorists in Chechnya, Iran, and many other countries.  So moderate Arabs all over the Middle East and North Africa are becoming furious at U.S. interventionist policies.

Note:  The coup is a set-back for the U.S., because Egypt - unlike Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Iran - isn't on the 20-year-old list of countries targeted for regime change.

Maybe encouraging Jihad was a big irritant but that is not what put the masses into the streets. Egypt cannot feed itself on its own. Without tourist revenue they will starve. Morsi failed to restore order and bring the tourists back. He failed in his primary duty as head of state.

I wonder why that is. Egypt was historically the bread basket of Rome, the largest exporter of grain in antiquity, producing such a great excess that it allowed Rome to keep its underclasses fed and pacified with free bread. I understand that the population of Egypt is much greater than at those times, but with modern farming methods you would think that they could still feed themselves. I wonder if this has something to do with the Aswan dam stopping the yearly inundation that deposited rich new alluvial soil every year and gave them their abundance or if they have been robbed of the means of production in some other way. Interesting.

Militarization of police has been pointed out in Playboy (yeah, I know...) a long, long time ago, in fact referring to the end of Vietnam war as its starting point, with surplus helicopters, assault weapons, etc. heading the way of civilian police forces for the first time.

Hitler was put in power by the German people after he gained the help of German industrialists' $ and his promises to pick Germany up off of its economic knees. The Rockefellers and their banker ilk forced Germany into a war when they realized he would not dance to the NWO's tune as he pursued a strong Germany- he got off the banker's leash as it were. The banks were calling in their loans to Germany in the early 30s to cover their losses after the market crash and this allowed the NSDAP to gain seats in the Reichstag on an anti-big bank platform. Germany was crushed by the Versailles Treaty and the huge reparations imposed on it by those cocksuckers in France and GB( Wilson went along this shit because he was a banker bitch like all US prezs) and Germany was never allowed to recover because of the FUCKING DEBT( gee does this sound familiar?). Follow the $(debt).  Say what you will about Hitler but he was always pursuing the best interests of the German people and he was genuinely distraught at the plight of the German volk under the Weimar leadership- unlike the assholes running countries now.

OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE!

Someone give me some money equivalent to 2 people's UK unemployment and a small budget for hardware and a leased line, and I'll gladly lay the foundation for an integrated executive/voting system able to give every member of any country with an interest in how it's run a voice...

Me and a mate (who does databases)  have long since worked out that the internet used right could bring about the perfect form of "small government".

Be warned however, that we plan to leverage this system to eventually ensure a more co-operative and socially trained population via fairly intensive state education! (After setting up the voting system first so as we get as close to a universally agreed system of values to instil as is possible).

The "present free for all" when it comes to selecting lifestyles is just too confusing for a huge number of people ( who probably aren't well represented by the readership of this site!) and history shows us that a firm social framework is a good thing until it becomes irrelevant. By allowing the people prompt access to the voting system and a carefully worked out system to aloow teh public to set the "questions de jour" we think we could make a system that would genuninely make people happier and more productive in their lives.

If any of you gazillionaires (that are sick of the other one's running the world at a loss) want a low cost hobby, for a year or two, we could mix it up good, by providing a genuine alternative. We've figured out the approach to integrate our system into mainstream politics too, sort of "we'll only give you the tip kind of approach". I am sure there is a way to PM me if anyone fancies giving it a shot. In teh eman time I'm off to do other less important work that has teh attraction of it directly benefits me... :c)

Q99x2, I love you comment. This I believe is our only hope. We need to see the human brain for what it is, ONE computer. The only way we will save our neanderthal asses from our technological genius is to learn to think together in and anonymous unbiased manner,  Collective Intelligence.  We need to sync our computers and remove the personal aspect representing ego, greed etc. Then we will come to better conclusions, conclusions that are grounded in logic and reason. What we have now is just ridiculous. We need to see the politician of today the way we viewed witch doctors growing up.  Their words are not taken to task, not in a scientific manner anyhow. We need to change the playing field. We need to change the evnironment that is so condusive to lies and manipulation.

It's a very collectivist thought. That we are somehow wasting so much brain power and if we only came together we could work out all the worlds problems. All we need to do is figure out how to make everyone work together - our way.

Of course, this ignores the fact that we have been 'coming together, working problems out' for thousands of years under mutually beneficial self-interest. But that is evil, because we weren't doing it for the 'greater good'.

Absolutely missing the point!

These individual efforts/trades/collaborations that are neccesary to us all having a "good life" can only be better for all parties if statistically there is a higher chance that both parties are "dealing fairly and equitably".

Whereas if both parties are trying secretly to "rip off" the other guy, because "that's the way things are done" then you spend more effort in the "warfare" part of the transaction and less on the "mutual benefit" side. Human ability to make effort IS limited, why do we waste so much of it on "evil" actions? because we no longer teach or focus our attention on the "right way" to do things. That could be changed.

With group sanctioned social indoctrination over time we could sway the mass mind away from "selfish quick gratification" to "what's best for everyone". would it not be nicer if you didn't HAVE to lock the car or empty it of valuables all the time? If you know where to go, there are still places in the world where it is possible to leave the motor running whilst you go into a shop and find the vehicle as you left it when you get back. They may have the "wrong" social indoctrination going on in may ways, frm our perspective, but it does work up to a point.)

ADVERTISING WORKS, why in heck don't we advertise the way we want our society to be? We sure spend enough on advertising what we want it to look like, taste like or plug into...

But the important thing is that we leverage the power of computers to give everyone a chance to participate in their society.

If people were presented with the chance, I am sure they would watch a TV debate and then cast a vote... It could even be fun.

Can it be leveraged and can we make derivative contracts from it? If not, the parasitic money changers will not be interested and keep doing what they do best. Sucking every host dry since the beginning of time. Any wonder we're stuck on this level?
