What REALLY Caused the Coup Against the Egyptian President
The protests in Egypt against president Mohammed Morsi were – according to the BBC – the largest in history.
The Egyptian military threw Morsi out in a coup today.
Why?
Irish Times reports:
Army concern about the way President Mohamed Morsi was governing Egypt reached tipping point when the head of state attended a rally packed with hardline fellow Islamists calling for holy war in Syria, military sources have said.
***
Mr Morsi himself called for foreign intervention in Syria against Mr Assad, leading to a veiled rebuke from the army, which issued an apparently bland but sharp-edged statement the next day stressing that its only role was guarding Egypt’s borders.
***
“The armed forces were very alarmed by the Syrian conference at a time the state was going through a major political crisis,” said one officer, whose comments reflected remarks made privately by other army staff. He was speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not permitted to talk to the media.
***
For the army, the Syria rally had crossed “a national security red line” by encouraging Egyptians to fight abroad, risking creating a new generation of jihadists, said Yasser El-Shimy, analyst with the International Crisis Group.
At the heart of the military’s concern is the history of militant Islam in Egypt, homeland of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri. The military source condemned recent remarks made by “retired terrorists” allied to Mr Morsi, who has deepened his ties with the once-armed group al-Gamaa al-Islamiya.
Obama had recently sent American troops to prop up Mursi, and the protesters were furious at the U.S. for backing Islamic radicals.
(The U.S. backed Egypt's previous dictator, as well).
Support of Western intervention in Syria was also one of the main causes of the recent enormous protests in Turkey … which came close to toppling the Turkish leadership.
Indeed, the American government has been providing arms, money and logistical support to Al Qaeda in Syria, Libya, Mali, Bosnia and other countries – and related Muslim terrorists in Chechnya, Iran, and many other countries. So moderate Arabs all over the Middle East and North Africa are becoming furious at U.S. interventionist policies.
Note: The coup is a set-back for the U.S., because Egypt - unlike Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Iran - isn't on the 20-year-old list of countries targeted for regime change.

It's really very simple. Criminals almost always deny their crimes.
Anyone who believes all that war-mongering propaganda is an idiot. Approximately 90-95% of our population are nothing but zombies who have lost the ability to see the lies for what they are. People explain it to me as being just too painful, and that there's nothing anyone can do about it, and that anyone like me who upsets their self-delusion is seen as an existential threat to them that needs to be avoided.
I have some stickers on a laptop computer contrary to propaganda, and sometimes people will get up and walk away when they see them. Last time it happened I felt like asking the guy if he was afraid of a drone strike for being in the same room with me.
When I was a child it baffled me to learn that all of my immediate ancestors were exterminated by the Third Reich. Apart from a few uprisings, the vast majority boarded those trains without complaint. They had been indoctrinated somehow to follow orders. They put on their best clothes like they were going on a vacation. I simply could not understand how that was possible! And as a child I resolved that I would never obediently follow the orders of an evil societal system.
So then here we are and this is now the Fourth Reich, a police state that Stalin and Hitler would greatly envy.
Thank God we have this place, ZH, where we can share opinions and information!
I've been to Auschwitz and actually Jews, Poles and gypsies fought back within and outside camps. There was a whole underground resistance. Many fought bravely and blew up one of the large gas chambers saving thousands. Resistance occurred frequently. I thought the same as you until I did more research. Some obeyed and some fought back and lost their lives. Some escaped as well. I am in a cast can't type more.
I really need some of those stickers. Most people really bug me. And I get that drone thing too when I attempt to enlighten .
Ummm, check out who provided the funding for George W. Bush's first oil company...none other than Salem Bin Laden, father of Osama Bin Laden. This shit has been going on for decades, and pretty much everything your TV tells you is highly specialized and targeted bullshit. You might want to diversify your news sources a bit, then you'll understand that there are no nations, only collections of ideologically unified thugs all vying for power and corporate favors...

"Jensen: You have meddled with the primal forces of nature, Mr. Beale, and I won't have it!! Is that clear?! You think you've merely stopped a business deal. That is not the case. The Arabs have taken billions of dollars out of this country, and now they must put it back! It is ebb and flow, tidal gravity! It is ecological balance!
You are an old man who thinks in terms of nations and peoples. There are no nations. There are no peoples. There are no Russians. There are no Arabs. There are no third worlds. There is no West. There is only one holistic system of systems, one vast and immane, interwoven, interacting, multivariate, multinational dominion of dollars. Petro-dollars, electro-dollars, multi-dollars, reichmarks, rins, rubles, pounds, and shekels.
It is the international system of currency which determines the totality of life on this planet. That is the natural order of things today. That is the atomic and subatomic and galactic structure of things today! And YOU have meddled with the primal forces of nature, and YOU WILL ATONE!
Am I getting through to you, Mr. Beale?
You get up on your little twenty-one inch screen and howl about America and democracy. There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM and ITT and AT&T and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide, and Exxon. Those are the nations of the world today.
What do you think the Russians talk about in their councils of state -- Karl Marx? They get out their linear programming charts, statistical decision theories, minimax solutions, and compute the price-cost probabilities of their transactions and investments, just like we do.
We no longer live in a world of nations and ideologies, Mr. Beale. The world is a college of corporations, inexorably determined by the immutable bylaws of business. The world is a business, Mr. Beale. It has been since man crawled out of the slime. And our children will live, Mr. Beale, to see that perfect world in which there's no war or famine, oppression or brutality -- one vast and ecumenical holding company, for whom all men will work to serve a common profit, in which all men will hold a share of stock, all necessities provided, all anxieties tranquilized, all boredom amused.
And I have chosen you, Mr. Beale, to preach this evangel.
Beale: But why me?
Jensen: Because you're on television, dummy. Sixty million people watch you every night of the week, Monday through Friday."
After reading ZB "the Great Game" I saw that part of the lie is to personify nations are personified, assigned "emotions". Geopolitics in the MSM is explained in those terms, easy to understand in the framework of our daily lives and when combined with false flags ACTION > REACTION
Aint that the truth!
"Soon the masse will rise up in the US.............."
You're pretty funny.
"Soon the masse will rise up in the US.............."
Thanks, I just blew a mouthful of coffee out my nose. The only way the "masse will rise up in the US" is when their cable goes out.
obviously the u.s. can't dial in the proper frequency for its north african drone. its autonomous now, maybe blood is the new hydrolic fluid for the rudders of freedom's wings?
This is what happens when Islamists don't let the youngins watch the Kardashians.
One of the tabloids at the grocery store today said that Kim K gave birth to her rug-rat in designer heels. "Classy Bitchez!"
One of the tabloids at the grocery store today said that Kim K gave birth to her rug-rat in designer heels. "Classy Bitchez!"
It ended as it began....legs up in designer heels.
Actually, she didn't end "legs up." Kim had to have a cesarian because the baby's ass was too big . . .
That was good 30 second laugh, thanks!
How the hell do you people know this shit?
We scan Huff-Po every once in a while to find out what the Ignorati are most fascinated/consumed with...lol.
Today it appears to be transgendered Egyptians and flying Great White sharks ;-)
Obviously the kind of thing 911 truth deniers do, eh nmewn?
Know thy enemy.
I dig it.
With her ass pointing North West...apparently.
Soon the masse will rise up in the US and Europe against globalist puppets like Obama. The man is a zero- a nothing -a piece of shit -a puppet of the criminal elites.
Also an imposter, a usurper and a fraud.

Like I said before, the US Government is the biggest terrorist on Earth.
So, will Americans march in the streets and throw out their president for supporting intervention in Syria? I don't think so. Their too busy grilling hotdogs and lighting sparklers to care.
Nice rant yesterday, GG.
When you continue to overthrow govt. again and again people in your country start to think that it's okay for the same thing to be done in the US. We are sowing the seeds to our destruction.
Destruction or Salvation??
Instead od berating the US gov't the ultimate question is who controls it.
In a democracy like America, if you want to see who controls the US gov't, just look in the mirror.
Right behind your reflection is a camera hooked directly to the control center.
it's a REPUBLIC with Democratic Instruments
Democracy = 2 wolves and 1 sheepvoting on what is for dinner.
that said, i agree that political activity is our onus.
we either get politically active or we get radioactive.
there is very little sense in protesting or attempting to redress for grievances, we must simply take up the long, onerous task of seating true patriots in congress
I posted this video yesterday on another thread but feel it is appropriate here.

Um, you're not Noam Chomsky are you ?
47 thumbs down on your comment to me indicates that the readership doesnt understand noam chomsky is a left gatekeeper
hell i used to think Zinn wasnt a left gatekeeper... rabbit hole is mighty deep
once upon a time before i woke up i used to revere Chomsky... sad, i was a gullible lefty moron pretending (as so many do these days) to be a liberal.
but what is a true liberal? Thomas Jefferson.
Obama, McCain, Graham, Rubio, the rest of the Gang of 8 and others in the Senate have been supporting the hardline Islamist "rebels" who are Al Queada and the Muslim Brotherhood. The Egyptian Coptic Christians have seen what has happened to Christians in other countries during Obama's Arab Spring (building the islamist caliphate).
The Copts, more secular muslims in Egypt and the Army did not want to Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) were pushing.
Gordon Gekko is 100% correct because the 100% of the Democrats including Obama and the RINO neocons were 100% behind the Muslim Brotherhood. The neocons are 15 of the GOP senators who voted for O's amnesty and a few GOP in the House like Peter King.
The Egyptian Army higher-ups did not want to get tossed like their Turkish cousins, on the road to the US approved/sponsored Church of Islam.
The Marmalukes were the Turkish slave army that ruled Egypt for a while.
-4 and counting ?
Note to self: no Noam Chomsky jokes on ZH :)
We could give a fuck about Chomsky; any offense taken likely came from the inference that only he could have made such a statement.
And THAT is why I junked you...
Boris is like Noam Chomsky! In Soviet State, is most quoted modern philosopher from West at height of cold war!
Borat is the West's most quoted philosopher from a (former) Soviet state. Without him, I never would have known that the national drink of Khazikstan was "horse piss" . . .
Horse piss. Is that Bud or Corona?
Put that Budweiser back in the Clydesdale
It's not the right flavor for me
The color's all wrong
there is not enough foam
and its got all the kick of weak tea.
Give me a pint of that good Guniess stout
With a body you cannot see through
Put that Budweiser back in the Clydesdale
and pour me a beer that is true
..........
.........
I am surprised. No foreign power was involved in the coup then? Just the people toppled the gov?
There was no coup. It was a popular spontaneous uprising of the people to further their democratic liberties and freedoms.

But betcha that's where the Legacy Media lands on directions from their progenitors... its the only way to explain it to the sheeple... and we must help!
I find it interesting that Obama approved an additional $250 million in military aid to Egypt several weeks ago. Coincidence?
War is not free... someone is to pay the foot bill. Is like when Boris is drink too much and in glorious revelry, yells "drink is around!"
Would like very much to go out drinking with Boris.
absolutely. obviously this Morsi guy was really hated as some type of "throw back" to some ridiculous and ancient society that simply didn't "square" with running one of the world's largest Cities. other than securing their position in the Next New Constitution i really don't know what the military can do here. this is a classic urban revolt and we'll just have to wait and see what the results truly are. the delay in elections is interesting...but obviously someone is going to have to run the country. Saudi Arabia coming out in support immediately was interesting. I still think "all roads lead to Damascus"...and i'm not talking a Washington DC style beltway here either.
Morsi is obvious too hairy. Egyptian pharaoh is not have thick hairline but is bald with odd slant and bulbous rear cranium, like Yule Brenner or Captain Pickard.
It's more than that. Pyramids are big business. Ancient History is Egypt's primary monetizable asset. Morsi was squandering Egypt's assets and letting them decay. Failed business models do not work. People can't eat Islam. They need cash to import food, and that means restoring order and bringing back the tourists.
I give Israel 3 months to find another way to build their case for war against Syria and why America must be involved every step of the way.
