As I just wrote elsewhere- If people don't think this stuff matters, remember what they did to "Joe the Plumber". Did anyone actually get punished in that BS act? I doubt it. The media just let that one drop off the screen. Your cartoon captures the threat of barry& Co. perfectly! The power to destroy anyone at any time is all this bunch or any other needs to silence dissent.

been reading about backdoors not only in software, but hardware, especially chips. it only takes a few lines of code, and detecting these things is a nearly impossible task. they exist in automobiles for instance, so that an outside party can control the speed and the braking system of your auto. (the modern freeway sniper uses one of these i suppose) and even airplanes. (pressure cooker bombs are not what the NSA worries about) the whole system is porous as hell.  and if you buy chips made in China, just what are you getting. hell these people don't inspect food from overseas, no way they look inside the chips (reason for the massive stuck accelerator problem across all makes and models using outsourced chips?) the Chinese gulag is probably watching you right now, if they cared. and they do if there are some industrial secrets to be had. nobody gives a crap about your political affiliation, the election is set in the lesser of two evils every time, it doesn't matter.

and Obama (or the next guy) gets a lot of positive press out of this Snowden thing, (sort of like what Bush got out of 9/11, fighting terrorism became a cottage industry, and no one ever talks about the root causes of terrorism any longer) nixon was paranoid, these guys are really paranoid. there are solutions but they all involve rolling back the endless supply of globally outsourced products (wall street profits off sweat shop labor to adoring US consumers who must have the latest) as usual american business acted without thinking, and now the next war is US vs the people.

But while I agree with most of your statement, I disagree strongly with "it doesn't matter", because it matters a great deal. Why do you think the TPTB go to all that trouble (the twin-parties, MSM, etc...) if it does not matter? I suggest we use their propaganda and spectacle against them...

trying to convince someone to waste their vote that they should vote third party requires some preparation, first convince them their vote isn't going to count (the one man one vote fallacy) the absentee ballot scam (counted late or not at all) the electoral college sham, as well as the backdoor electronic voting machines, sleepovers and stuffed ballot boxes all the way back to Mayor Daly in Chicago.

first you convince the person that voting for one of the two parties is a futile exercise, then you convince them to vote third party, and express their real inner self. (at least you feel good afterwards, i voted for the Vegan Animal Rescue volunteer, who hates paper money because they kill trees) it doesn't matter is just step one. thank you for mentioning that

Perhaps it's just me, but I think you missed my point. I argue that we vote, specifically, for no candidates. That we vote to revoke our consent to be governed by these corrupt bastards. I argue we take power over the electoral process, by setting their agenda (virally) and forcing them to argue against Constitutional mythos.

And yes, I am familiar with the voting issues you mention. As a personal aside, I favor hand-counted paper ballots (with plenty of non-partisan public supervision). However, we can use these issues against them. Turn their propaganda paradigm around, point it back at them and couple it to this question: Do you consent to what the US government is doing? Then vote your conscience.

A successful voting rights activist once told me that she looked for the point of greatest resistance then organized against it...

the mass audience is a consumer choice. there is no against, the mass audience isn't against anything, its simply indifferent. you aren't against Pepsi or the Rolling Stones or a new Cadillac. which is how polls should be conducted. a consumer product either talks you or it doesn't. (Romney was a Cadillac candidate? Obama was an electric golf cart which can barely move because of the baggage..) if you turn the propaganda against them you have McCarthyism, litmus tests, etc.

at this moment the mayor of SD is being accused of sexual harrassment, and without trial or investigation, several prominent local pols want him to resign. (if a woman mayor calls a woman DA a bitch, that's okay) i don't want to turn propaganda against them, but to your point - propaganda ends where dialogue begins - mcluhan  and i see your approach as dialogue, but respect the thin line between social dogma, verbally beating someone up like our dissembler in chief, or opening the door. so tell us what you're doing over at NSA? and repeat the question, some old newsmen knew how to do this.

But I don't agree with this... if we use wit.

if you turn the propaganda against them you have McCarthyism, litmus tests, etc. -- the grateful unemployed

Humor, satire and irony are wmds they cannot easily counter. Nor can there be McCarthyism without power, and we apparently have none at the moment. But a litmus test is exactly right. Black or White. To clarify things in the public mind.

Do you consent to what the US government is doing? Yes or No. Vote your conscience.

Moreover I agree, Marshall was right:

propaganda ends where dialog begins -- McLuhan

And if you want dialog other than MSM - twin party drivel, we'll have to create it using a viral spear to skewer their legitimacy. All we have to do is get the ball rolling and give it a direction to travel... dialog will follow.

Unless any thoughts are impure, surely?

Anyway, Bill, I don't know why you're giving James 'Jimmy The Clap' Clapper a hard time. Isn't he on record for telling the least untruthful untruths in testimony? I think if you cancel out all the double negatives you'll find that's pretty much the same as telling the most truthful truths, sorta.

Used to be said just go thru the telephone book and randomly pick 9 people for SCOTUS, or Congress for that matter, and more justice will be served than these sold out unConstitutional scholar dimwits can ever deliver. But after watching a youtube of people willingly sign a petition to remove the Bill of Rights from the Constitution so O can replace it with a more modern NDAA version, well, forget the telephone book thing.
