USA : Last One to Leave Turn Out the Lights

Pivotfarm's picture

The USA is turning into a sorry state of affairs. But, it only has itself to blame. The successive governments for the past decades have done nothing but increase the debt ceiling in the country. The successive Presidents have done nothing but see their own personal interest and the vote-winning policies of spend, spend, spend. It’s all about spending to keep the country in the rat-race and on the international scene. The spending goes on, because the ones that follow in the wake will just have to deal with and it’s a tacit agreement that you blame the one that preceded you in office. But, now President Obama will go down in history as the man that broke the USA. He has brought the country literally to its knees in the wake of the successive spending policies of previous governments. Former presidents will just go into hiding as Obama will probably also do. He should take Ben Bernanke, of helicopter fame, with him as he goes. The last one to do a runner should turn the lights out as they slam the door; that’s if the electricity hasn’t been turned off for non-payment of the bills.

There are signs that are emanating from the House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (California) that it might just be possible to get a few days respite for the government and stop the country imploding on itself. That might be enough for there to be a long-term solution some have been saying. But, if there were a long-term solution that might have been found, then it would have been found a lot earlier. This is neither the first time that the debt ceiling has been reached nor the first time that the USA is in dire financial straits (there have been 17 debt-ceiling overshoots leading to shutdowns in the past four decades). But, it’s perhaps the first time that the government is down to the wire and looking as if it will get a ‘late’ notice slapped on it for not paying its bills earlier. Slowpayers are never good. Bad payers are even worse.

Tonight there could be hundreds of thousands of US workers that get told not to turn up for work tomorrow.  But, does that mean that non-essential departments will get closed down first? Why does the US have non-essential departments anyhow?

A shutdown might well be short-lived. The credit rating of the US will be definitely reduced, thus reducing the image of the USA in the face of the world and their borrowing power. The financial markets will drop as a result and it’s doubtful if the guys at the House of Representatives or in the government have even considered what is happening outside of their closed world.

What to Expect?

Trading will be volatile. It will shift quickly and a lot. The reckless optimism of the past weeks will vanish into thin air as the Dollar will fall (the US Dollar Currency Index has fallen today by -0.19%, down -0.15, trading at 80.15) and theDow Jones Industrial Average will take a hammering (it is down -96.78 points to 15, 161.46, which is a decrease of0.63% today).

The US stock markets will be affected probably more than others and anyhow, the S&P and the DJIA have increased so much over the past few months that they were in for a pullback. Analysts believe that there might be a minimal drop in the stock market if the shutdown is a temporary thing that is going to last only a couple of days. If it lasts a few weeks however, then we can count on a 7%-drop in the markets at least.

USA has gone broke!

USA has gone broke!

That being said, it will more than likely be more as panic sets in and confidence in the ability of the US economy to pull back in the next few months soon wane. Catastrophic scenario? Probably. But, the government of the US will only have itself to blame for that.  Anything that the Federal Reserve has tried to do withQuantitative Easing and the injection of $85 billion every month into the economy has done little except make the banks richer and the markets artificially inflated.

  • Analysts are advising to buy oil, and resource stocks in the wake of the decision.
  • Gold will more than likely increase as soon as the shutdown is announced and then it will drop when the solution is found (which it will be as the US is not going to just turn off the lights and go elsewhere).
  • The Yen and the Australian Dollar will also more than likely see a rise and will be safe havens.
  • But, the Euro won’t get much of a benefit as the disagreements between member states there hamper any possibility of reaping the benefits of US failings.
  • If the shutdown does go ahead, then there’s no point expecting the jobs report to come out on time.
  • Wouldn’t be any good to see thousands added to the claimants’ list at this time. Anyhow, maybe the guys that compile that report will be the first to get laid off (remember it’s the jobs in the departments that are unnecessary or non-essential that will go first).
  • The Bureau of Labor Statistics stated on its website: “All survey and other program operations will cease and the public website will not be updated”.

The USA is going to reach its final shutdown at midnight tonightand there are a few in the world that will be rejoicing that the economy has collapsed, that the money will just stop rolling out of the Federal Reserve and that Obama will get the blame. The 11thhour might just be there to save the pieces and glue them back together, so long as the House of Representatives actually includes the money they will be needing for that too in the voting of the increased debt ceiling.

But, Obama will get the blame whatever happens and some might say rightly so after inflicting Obamacare on the economy when it could have been postponed to another time. There are politicians that lie through their back teeth and give us pledges and promises that are never upheld even if they stay in office for more than one term. Then, there are the few that actually stick to their guns, come what may. It’s the latter that we wish would do something than giving the people what they promised them when the coffers are empty, the debt of the country has skyrocketed as if it were launching us into space.

Are the lawmakers, the government, the administrators  and the people at the top aware of what it all means to have unleashed insurmountable debt on a country that has been failing in the face of the financial crisis? Are they aware of what it means to have no money left at all? Do they plan to have a big fund raising party and charity in the name of the good old US of A?

It may well serve the country right. It may well serve as a lesson for the US government, but, I don’t like lessons that teach the government that they made mistakes to the detriment of the people. It’s not the government that will suffer from the bankruptcy of the US. It’s happening and the US is still in denial, unable to admit that it is going to take place in the here and now. This is no longer a bed-time story that Obama has been reading to Bernanke every night. It’s happening now in the US. The US is a failed state.

It’s teetering on the edge of the cliff. Who’s going to push the country completely off into the precipice?

So far, about 75% of this article's predictions are wrong. (i.e., stocks soar and metals monkey hammered)  On the other hand, this author made those predicitons based upon the Old Normal.  There is only one market, one reality now.

The FED didn't inject money into the economy.  Wall Street bankers are not the economy.  The stock market is not the economy.

Watch the ball, folks. the fly in the ointment. Guns by individuals(the british found out).

ps, the ball is the small arms treaty circa U.N.

A LITTLE GUN HISTORY
In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated
------------------------------

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
---- ------------- -------------

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
-----------------------------
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.
------------------------------
It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:
Read this List of 7 items that you must know:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent.

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

If you value your freedom, please spread this anti-gun control message to all of your friends.

The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.
SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN! SWITZERLAND'S GOVERNMENT TRAINS EVERY ADULT THEY ISSUE A RIFLE. SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!! Any means justifies the end and Obama means to disarm the American citizen.

Once this is accomplished, the fun starts.

You think you fear your government now, wait. They haven't even started in yet and won't until they disarm us.

The problem with the future is - it's unpredictable. Well the US is bankrupt not just for now, but since ages. They never were able to pay back debts, all they've done is piling up one debt staple above another. And well buyingsterling has a good argument:

Why does the US have non-essential departments anyhow?

Exactly, why does BB need them, to feed the poor? Or simply to suppress others? Your take?

When the Federal Reserve Board was created in 1913, all of the rest was inevitable. THE FED PRIVATIZED THE PUBLIC MONEY SUPPLY. The government of the USA implemented the processes of demonetizing silver and gold, until there was nothing left but fiat "money," made out of nothing, as debts, issued primarily by PRIVATE BANKS, which system the government agreed to operate within, and to force everyone else to operate within.

The last couple of Pivotfarm articles on this topic which have appeared in Zero Hedge seem remarkably superficial in their presentation of what is going on!  Nothing has really changed, except for the runaway, exponential growth of the fundamentally fraudulent financial system, that was systematically put in place and amplified since the American Civil War.

Personally, I find it ridiculously superficial to blame the American People generally, or to blame any individual politicians for this happening. What has actually happened is the runaway triumph of the international banking cartel being able to systematically apply the methods of organized crime in order to take over control of the government of the USA, as well as almost all the rest of the world, more or less. (The global battle lines now being drawn are primarily between countries that still have mostly public central banks, contrasted to those which have de facto privatized central banks, with the USA being the biggest example of a country being controlled by a private central bank.)

The last Presidents who were able to somewhat successfully resist the international banking cartel, that has been successfully privatizing the public money supply, were President Andrew Jackson, and President Lincoln. Jackson had to miraculously survive assassination attempts in order to succeed with his fight against the banksters. Lincoln was murdered before he could consolidate his tentative degree of victory in thwarting the banksters plans. After Lincoln, the whole situation rapidly ran downhill. Neither the American People generally, nor individual politicians, were able to resist the runaway triumph of the organized crimes being committed against them. Instead, more and more people were brainwashed to accept the bullshit social stories about what was happening.

The international banksters were successful in bribing Congress to demonetize silver, way back in the 1870s, which was the beginning of the end of the destruction of honest money for ordinary Americans. All of the efforts to reverse that failed, in the face of the continued success of the international banking cartel. After 1913, it was really game over, except that it took until the 1970s to finally succeed in creating a pure fiat money, no longer limited by any connection to gold, and therefore, no longer limited by any connection to the laws of nature, but rather, let loose to become potentially infinite fraud.

Effectively, the American Dollar then became backed up with military force, in the form of the petrodollar. However, we are perhaps nearing some point where that will no longer be able to maintained? The American Dollar and American Military developed to become the current systems of globalized electronic fiat money frauds, backed by atomic bombs. Those systems are far too insane to be able to comprehend anymore, since they are the result of the history of force backed frauds, being amplified by technology to astronomically amplified sizes!

In that context, it is goofy to blame Obama, or the current Congress, who are both political puppets whose whole lives were always dominated by the entrenched, long-established systems of the international banking cartel. THE FUNDAMENTAL FINANCIAL SYSTEM IS FRAUD, BACKED BY FORCE, WHICH AUTOMATICALLY AND NECESSARILY BECOMES MORE INSANE, SINCE THE FORCE CAN NEVER MAKE THE FRAUDS BECOME TRUE!

Actually, the only theoretical solutions are to break through to a greater public understanding of the radical truth regarding the overall monetary and taxation systems. However, obviously, that is practically impossible. Enough people would have to go through profound paradigm shifts in the ways that they understand politics to begin to make that transformation in perceptions possible.

The situation is that nothing within the established frame of reference of the existing system can possibly fix the runaway problem of having that fundamentally fraudulent financial accounting system, which only worked to the degree that its fraudulent absurdities could be promoted with enough force to make and maintain that system as the State Religion. At face value, the system is necessarily absurd, since it is based on deliberately ignoring the most basic laws of nature. That State Religion operated by implementing legalized lies, backed by legalized violence, in ways where the connection between the financial accounting systems and the real world are ONLY through the tangled and convoluted history of backing up those lies with violence.

In many other comments that I have posted under various Zero Hedge articles, I have been outlining the more abstract theories which would be necessary to understand these kinds of problems, to at least have theoretical solutions which are in the same order of magnitude as the problems. However, obviously, there is no practical political point to doing that, since the real world will continue to dominated by professional liars, and immaculate hypocrites, through their kind of deliberate ignorance of all the evidence and logical arguments that one "should" pay attention to, in order to better understand what has really happened, and therefore, what the frame of reference would have to be to cope with the true nature of these problems.

The basic ways that people think are profoundly bullshit, since they are aspects of the current State Religion, which is the established faith-based monetary and taxation systems, which were built on the foundation of fraud, backed by force. Every day that that continues, the frauds automatically and necessarily get more insane, and more psychotically removed from the laws of nature, and therefore, closer to their crazy collapse.

There is nothing else which is theoretically possible to fix these problems than to bring the laws of  man back into better balance with the laws of nature. The government of a civilization that operates as an energy system ought to be based on better understanding of the laws of nature, as energy systems. However, the ways that we understand energy systems themselves are also victims of the almost total triumph of the biggest bullies' social stories creating a Bizarro Mirror World, where everything is backwards and distorted.

Fraud backed by force does not violate the laws of nature. However, the ways that society discusses that system is necessarily based on the maximum possible deceits and frauds about itself. We are looking at the paradox of final failure, from too much successful fraud, which was only able to be so successful to the degree that the legalized lies could continue to be enforced by the legalized violence.

From the beginnings, more than a Century ago, when financial frauds began to be able to become legalized lies, which were being enforced by legalized violence, everything else that is manifesting today was inevitably going to have to happen. We just happen to be living in those days when the exponential growth of those financial frauds are reaching their possible tipping points, where the magnitude of those legalized lies is going beyond the ability of the legalized violence to keep them going. Since the violence can never make those lies become true, every increment of being temporarily able to enforce the frauds only makes the numbers become more NUTS, and therefore, for the whole system to become more manifestly an insane and absurd State Religion.

Brother, the transformation is already well underway. With the wide acceptance of digital money, the shunning of cash is more prevalent now. An elite banker's dream is to have a chipped populace with state-controlled assets/equity. The easiest way to do this is to convince everyone they need one of them new chips in their spine. Cuz everyone else is doin it, you know.

Hell yes 100% Bullshit,.. The USA has the NUKES on the worlds head, trade in USD or die,

The USA controls the worlds heroin, opium, cocaine, black-market-oil, ... everything 'bad' in the world MUST be traded in US dollars or your country is bombed.

Thus there is still an incredible demand for US bucks abroad, ... only when the black-market trade ceases will you see an end to the current game. But the CIA since 1948 has been very careful about controlling opium in Afghan, and Cocaine Columbia, and Marijuana in Mexico, and oil in Nigeria, ... ALL black markets in the World must trade in USD. A few years ago Columbia came close to trading Cocaine for Euro's and the US sent in the kill-teams and changes all the players, ... and not a word of EURO since.

As always the ZH posts keep the fly's far away from the real shit.

The world lives in fear of the USA, and so long as they are fearful the USD will remain reserve currency, and thus the USA will continue to get 'free stuff', like food and oil,... and minerals abroad.

Given the current system is almost 70+ years in the making and not even remotely close to collapse... I would say move along, and please ZH just for god's sake once, try to find some content that is 'real politik USA'.

The USA & JAPAN and everyone else and China will just keep printing money, ... nobody knows when this will end, but the USD still is >50% of the trade, and thus they are the fucking elephant in the room, and everybody does wish that elephant would die,... sadly its going to take a long fucking time, and we'll be long dead,... as much as I would like to see the USA go Russian style 1980's collapse,...I simply don't see it happening in the near time frame.

The USD is all about MILITARY power,... no accident that BATF is under US-TREASURY, everything about the US DOLLAR is bombs, guns, and killing.

Like MAO ( china ) said long ago "ALL political power comes from the gun", ...well the USA could just as well say "All financial power comes from the barrel of a gun",

The USA has the biggest meanest fucking guns on earth and the most of them,

The winner is always the first'est with the most'est, and the USA is always the first to KILL, and with OVER-KILL every time,... no accident that more bombs were used in Libya or Iraq, ... in recent years than in WWII.

So long as the US people, support a government of killers then the USA will prosper, which means more trading toilet paper for INTL food & oil.

If the USA people were to STOP their KILLING government the USA would collapse, ... implicitly every ameriKKKan is a psychopathic killer and gets the spoils of war on earth by way of monthly US treasury checks ( > 60% of US public on dole ).

or cuts, real cuts, NOT slowing growth. cutting growth often stated as a cut. truth said they don't cut to the bone.

oh, yea if that happens we will have blood in the streets cause all those gub-slob-sucks are unemployable(basically worthless eaters) and there are few jobs to mop up theseshits sticks.

they(politicain/scumfucks) painted themselves into a corner and are running out of options; ie fake money...

and all this will impact good honest hard working folk.  that is what really pisses me off...

Hey this is the baby jeebuz moment,

You either have faith in your gubmint or you don't, ... and 'money' toilet paper, has nothing to do with wealth, or value, ... its just a symbol.

The USD is a projection of POWER, ... its a symbol of death.

Given that its taken the USA from 1947, to 1972, ... to 2013 to create the most powerful military financial complex in history, and given that all governments are doing same, printing 'money' with nothing to back it up but faith,... faith in what baby-jeebuz?

No the FAITH is the 500LB gorilla behind your currency, no accident that NSA spying on the world, CIA control of black-markets, everything the USA does in the entire world is to protect is position of USD reserve status majority,...

Given that this MONEY is FREE to print,... we can NEVER run out.

Given that nobody comes close to spending as much on gun's ( nukes, .... bombs ) as the USA, it can NEVER lose its military power.

Most likely as in Rome the mercenary army will turn,... but the USA needs a COUP, but I don't see it happening, as cleverly everything is in the MIL is about PENSION, which HAMILTON was very clever to setup a system where the MIL were part of the status quo to support the US dollar.

The curious thing about these shut-down stories is that there is never a mention of payments to defence contractors .... hmmmm!

Don't worry, they're not stupid,...

All this is a pretext to 'shutdown' entitlements for the MORON-CLASS, but the MIL-CLASS, they of course  are the reason the USD has projection of power, ... even Congress knows the 'real game'.

All 100% theatre that we all know,... but lets not forget that TPTB put the OREO in this position to KILL 'entitlements' ( FDR shit ),

What I find funny is the PUG's are against OBAMA-CARE which is lawyer/insurance shit which is 100% PUG, but of course also 100% DEM, the INSURANCE company's must be having a conniption that their pet-pig is being sacrificed, but again all is theatre.

Once all the money is gone, and there is nothing to steal then what?

The citizens become indentured slaves in the name of 'health care', .. funny where I live I can stay in a hospital for $20/day, and see a doctor for a few bucks, ... only in the USA do you go bankrupt if sick,

FUCK the USA, and the people in it,...

I agree with most everything you write. And I understand that most US residents, are brainwashed and as I always say:

[2Th 2:11-12] 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

But...I also know it is a world delusion, and not just a US delusion. The sheeple of the world are following evil, and I believe, as a US citizen, that the US is the great Babylon as describe in Revelations.

Rev 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. Rev 16:19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. Rev 17:5 And upon her forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Rev 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

I never believed in the Word before, but the more I look at it, the more amazed I am at the exact happenings of the current times and what is written in the Word.

Yes, many places you just die when you get sick. Canadians come here when they can't wait for their "affordable" healthcare at home. Americans spend huge amounts of money on shit they don't need but refuse to buy insurance much less take care of themselves. People going bankrupt over cars and houses and creditcard debt, but bankruptcy to save your life is just too much to bear. At least you can file bankruptcy on healthcare debt. Its not like student loans that you take to your grave.

5 stars for this line alone: Why does the US have non-essential departments anyhow?

Shut down everything that will not result in numerous deaths. Fix all regulatory schemes in place and just enforce those, rather than continuing to expand them. Then require congress pass every regulation on a roll call vote. Tax all income from any source at the same rate, no deductions of any kind. Means test every entitlement, and let the 5% of the population that accounts for 50% of the medical expenses pay for it themselves, rely on charity, or go into hospice. Why are we bankrupting ourselves so that these people can have a few more years of TV watching?

Cannot achieve totalitarian statist wet dream without influence of government creep invasive to every facet of life of citizenry, from essential to non-essential. Get from American dream to Soviet-style state is require multitudinous incremental shift of responsibility and control from individual to collective.

Dollars are US govt debt so how can any more dollars be printed without approval from congress to increase debt?
