Like Edward Snowden, Benjamin Franklin Was Called a Traitor For Informing the People About the Actions of its Government
The Washington Times notes:
In 1773, Benjamin Franklin leaked confidential information by releasing letters written by then Lt. Governor of Massachusetts Thomas Hutchinson and his secretary Andrew Oliver to Thomas Whatley, an assistant to the British prime minister.
The letters contained opinions on how the British government should respond to colonial unrest over the Townsend Acts and other unpopular policies. Hutchinson suggested that it was impossible for the colonists to enjoy the same rights as subjects living in England and that “an abridgement of what are called English liberties” might be necessary.
The content of the letters was damaging to the British government. Franklin was dismissed as colonial Postmaster General and endured an hour-long censure from British Solicitor General Alexander Wedderburn.
Like Snowden, Franklin was called a traitor for informing the people about the actions of its government. As Franklin’s biographer H.W. Brands writes;
“For an hour he hurled invective at Franklin, branding him a liar, a thief, the instigator of the insurrection in Massachusetts, an outcast from the company of all honest men, an ingrate whose attack on Hutchinson betrayed nothing less than a desire to seize the governor’s office for himself. So slanderous was Wedderburn’s diatribe that no London paper would print it.”
Tyrants slandering patriots is nothing new. History decided that Franklin was a patriot. It was not so kind to the Hutchinsons and Wedderburns.
History will decide who the patriots were in the 21st century as well.
Ray McGovern – a 27-year CIA veteran, who chaired National Intelligence Estimates and personally delivered intelligence briefings to Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, their Vice Presidents, Secretaries of State, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and many other senior government officials- agrees:
Like Edward Snowden, Franklin was called a traitor for whistleblowing the truth about what the government was doing.
Indeed, while Snowden is treated as a traitor by the fatcats and elites, he is considered a hero by the American public and members of the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of government have all praised the debate on spying which Snowden’s leaks started.
And experts say that the type of spying the NSA is doing is exactly the kind of thing which King George imposed on the American colonists … which led to the Revolutionary War.
And what does the fact that some officials within the American government consider the Founding Fathers to be terrorists say about the current state of affairs?

trace elements of mixed metaphor... certainly one of the better come backs tonight.
well done hongcha
thoughts on the benjamin franklin scandal (speaking of great stories)?
Thank you Mr Snowden. You are an inspiration and a hero.
...this mean snowdon likely a pedofile?
obviously all whistleblowers are pedophiles, transexuals, or just REALLY bad drivers.
What the hell is a "pedofile" ?
Speed walker sexual predator ?
... Spying Whistleblower’s Girlfriend Is HOT!
your point being?
Distraction?
government trolls have a whole host of tools fro destroying legitimate discussion and turning it into dross.
Well hell, at least he wasn't called an anarchist by one of the elite ruling class for trying to get the imperial government to abide by its own laws.
That would have made the front page of the kings press...or sumpin ;-)
Franklin was a Jesuit.
I am Chumbawamba.
Actually no. Franklin, in his later years was a devout Occult practitioner. He was a major force among occult freemasons, and was a member of many popular secret and occult societies. (These societies were extremely popular in his day). As he grew older he became increasingly outspoken against jews and promoted various anti-jewish platforms within government.
Interestingly however is evidence that he was originally of Jewish ancestry (despite the anti-jewish / occultist leanings of his later years). He not only studied Hebrew, but proposed Hebrew as the national language of the United States, was a member of (and donated to) 2 different jewish Freemason lodges, and was a publisher and published a German language newspaper.
Whatever he was, he certainly wasn't a religious man. Even though he publicly pretended to be a religious man, he was a well known perv .... He was into young women even in his 70's. (Not that we can fault the man for this). His letters reveal openly lustful advances on women in their early 20's. The really freaky stuff about Franklin is his occult/later life. He joined the Hellfire Club -- a quasi Freemason-ish organization which openly mocked organized religion and held regular orgies.
And then there's the really fucked up shit: Just do a Google search for all the human remains found in 1998 under his house. Correction: DISSECTED human remains, hidden under his house. I like to think he was a scientist and involved in research... but given his heavy occult involvement, the debate is obviously open on this point.
We all love to focus on the cool stuff... like the fact that also loved to brew beer, invent things like stoves, lightning rods, bifocals and swim fins. But Franklin remains a very, very colorful and perhaps very weird character in American history.
Popo, The body parts were found in LONDON in a house Franklin rented not the USA and have been explained as follows:
From a one metre wide, one metre deep pit, over 1200 pieces of bone were retrieved and are the the remnants of an anatomy school run from the House by William Hewson, son-in-law of Franklin’s landlady, Margaret Stevenson. Hewson, who married Margaret’s daughter Polly in 1770, is best known for his research on blood and the lymphatic system. He isolated the key protein in the blood clotting process, fibrinogen, and called it “coagulable lymph.”

Snowden for President.
Sounds like ol' Ben may have been reading someone else's mail....I do believe that's illegal; or spying. Spying is good if it's done for the right reasons. Obviously, Ben was doing it for what history has indicated is 'right' reasons; however, being dismissed from the post for the activity was 'getting off easy.' Make no mistake, though the republic was born out of frustration with oppressive taxing and freedom-squelching by the crown, there was more than just a personal benevolence stake in the outcome for the revolutionaries. It has been and will always be about the money. The last 3 words in the Jewish bible: Get The Money!
Last 3 words in the Jewish bible? Uh... that would be the same as the Christian Bible, except only the first 5 books. I'm no religious scholar, but AFAIK the Jews just read up to the end of the book called "Deuteronomy" ... Which makes this a pretty easy assertion to verify. (Color me stupid for believing you and actually going to check it out!)
From what I can tell, last verse the Jews pay attention to is:
And there has not arisen since in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face. In all the signs and the wonders, which the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land. And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great and awesome deeds which Moses performed in the sight of all Israel. (Deut. 34:12)
It's a joke, Popo.
Like I said, color me an idiot for actually going to look it up! Haha.
I actually had a Jewish friend (owner of a professional sports team - among other things) tell me that joke many years ago. Nice guy; off-the-chart smart businessman, great sense of humor and presence of mind.
