Fukuppy is creepy on so many levels. An egg with angel wings seems to symbolize the dead children you will never have because of radiation poisoning. Would they really make that a mascot for Fukushima? Are we sure this didn't come from the Onion (or the Wasabi or whatever is the Japanese equivalent)?

OK, turns out it's just the mascot for a refrigerator company not even located in Fukushima, not for the town itself, or the plant, or Tepco. Still, the artist is channelling some cosmic brilliance.
Fukuppy makes me think of the engraved plate included on the Voyager space probe that went out of the solar system, with a bunch of hopefully universal symbols to communicate with anyone who finds it.
I can picture the last people on earth, waiting to die, who engrave Fukuppy on a titanium plate to explain what happened to the human race, in case any spacemen ever wander by. One look at Fukuppy and you know -- the human race was killed off by corporate idiots.
