Why must we always blame the messenger for the message?

Fri, 10/18/2013 - 03:36 | 4068000 MontgomeryScott
MontgomeryScott's picture

The expression 'Judas's Goat' comes to mind.

The 'sacrificial lamb', or the 'COLLATERAL DAMAGE' are also good descriptors.

WE, here, do not try to place the blame on the MESSENGER.

Because it works so well?

But to answer your question... because the message stirs up those old feelings of cognitive dissonance, so what is one to do? Actually deal with the internal incoherence? Or blame the messenger, externalizing the problem, relieving the person of culpability.

As with most things in life, it's all about the perspective one chooses to adopt.

« We now live in a nation where

lawyers destroy justice

universities destroy knowledge

governments destroy freedom

the press destroys information

religion destroys morals

and our banks destroy the economy. »

Gordon Duff of Veterans Today on the current US President, and the people higher than him:

« There are few signs, if any, that Obama has much to do with governing the United States »

---

John F. Hylan, Mayor of New York, 1918-1925, on who really runs the USA:

« The real menace of our Republic is the invisible government which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy legs over our cities, states and nation. At the head is a small group of banking houses…This little coterie…runs our government for their own selfish ends. It operates under cover of a self-created screen…seizes…our executive officers… legislative bodies… schools… courts… newspapers and every agency created for the public protection. »

Thanks to 'off-budget' funding, Dr. Strangelove has gotten the Congress to commit to funding of certain 'black operation' projects, including (but not limited to) the re-making of 'Miss Lube Job 1953' in to a force that needs Botox injections CONSTANTLY, and has re-settled her in SAN FRANSISCO, to be 're-activated' as needs be, by those who took over the Congressional duty to COIN LAWFUL MONEY (back in 1913).

That Shelley girl was a prognosticator of extra-ordinary means, wasn't she?

Speak of the devil.....

Former Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) told GQ he's less sensitive than his wife Huma Abedin when it comes to questions and rumors about the state of their marriage.

“I duck it as best I can,” Weiner said. “But her reputation has become the Woman Who Married an Idiot and Stuck with Him. More of it rolls off my back, because that’s the way I am constitutionally. She’s more sensitive."

"I'm just an empty, soulless vessel, so it doesn’t hurt me as much," Weiner continued

Bill, mr hypocrite has so many who educated him: how would you do a thread on our Religious leaders of today, say the black church in America, who do not react to the public execution of a young black mother with child on the streets of our capital, by .gov?? Or the silence of all our major faiths on the corruption at the highest levels, the endless wars? is the church no longer an icon of our society, not even worthy of satire?

The last series I did on religion involved the separation of church and state, last year.

I have no desire to energize religious types for political ends. As far as I am concerned they should stay out of politics.

As a practical matter I think the religious block has squandered all of whatever credibility it ever had with hypocrisy and aspirations to pry into personal matters that are none of their business,

did you mean stay out of politics, when they do not support the approved story? or do you mean they are no longer a valid commentator on public injustice? is politics a STATE owned property? there may be contradictions in there somewhere? I think if I continue I will be silenced, for non approved thoughts here in oceana.

Who said anything about surpressing your thoughts.

I'm just saying that I  generally prefer to keep religion separated from politics, so I only go there when events lead me there, as was the case in the election circus early last year (recall the infamous war on women).

Regarding the hypocrisy vis-a-vis Obozo's murderous fraudtocracy, there are many organizations beyond the black/white church which have been deafeningly silent, Louis Farrakan, to his credit in this regard, being one major exception. Farrakan called it very very early on. But so did Nader.

Al Sharpton, is a fucking asshole and always has been.

Of course, we should be mindful that there are many (left and right) who have been secretly muzzled by various forms of state sponsored intimidation tactics.

I suspect here are many religous organizations that are being counseled to steer clear of political activism in the current environment.

I support the separation of state and church.  I could care less about the state authorizing the union of trees and dogs, cats and birds or same sex humans, but requiring a religious organization to sanctify a state authorized union as a “marriage” is inappropriately setting aside the separation between the two.

As for the IRS and the beloved tax exempt status the state threatens people of faith with, it’s a red herring.  The widow donating her last copper coins into the treasury was not a lesson in virtue; it was the occasion for Christ to foretell the time of collapsing the corrupt system that required the servitude of the impoverished.  Faith will continue long after the time when “Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”
