Okay, being an old guy, I will now tell you something worthwhile about gold: The real difference between gold and fiat. It's quite simple in fact. You know that you can let your (fiat-)money work, so it gets more over time, right. Well, guess what: Money never ever does any work! The work, which is ascribed to the money is in fact done by, say, some child, at the utmost thirteen years old, in a warped shed that's 7/8 submerged and where each and every toxic waste can be directly disposed into the nearest ditch. That's the real way, money "works" for you. Does gold do anything similar? Let that be a hint to you, what is of real value, and what is not! You want interest? That means that you in fact want to exploit other people. So "up" means way down regarding karma, and gold won't do you such harm. But I'm not telling you that gold will go up - I tell you that you shouldn't care, and really, I mean it. ;-)

i'm with you on gold but i do encourage you to do some research on pm mining(i tend to believe you have done it but chose to ignore it). on poorer side of the globe it's an industry with worst conditions imaginable for the miners and with tremendous environmental damage. and somehow in those regions it costs the most to mine. i like gold, but regarding to its production, it's no different to any other economic exploitation we are so familiar with. otherwise, you have a point there.

Same here, a x220 without dvd drive, dont use anything but the vlc-player for media files, one of the short cut I find very usefull is [shift]+r for recording cut-outs (I guess that's what it actually is, cut-outs, not recordings)
