What's this about?
Google are now forcing everyone with YouTube accounts to activate G+ accounts.
Apparently, you can no longer comment there without signing in via a G+ account.
I will move all of my video activity in the future to Vimeo.
Try as they may, I have resisted this up until now.
They have already been trying to shovel every gmail account into G+ for months.
Ultimately they want everyone to have a G+ account linked to a name verified with a cell phone number.
And I am sure there are plenty of idiots happy to go along with that idea.
This is what I find particularly insidious about the whole thing.
I, however, am G-Minus.

It is sad that williambanzai7 and others have been dumped on like this, but as suggested, other services like Vimeo will see a spike in business now.
Doing this to utube is so fucked up, it is useless now because I can't see any comments from other viewers, just a banner which no way will I click OK on. I've been trained well by the rise of adware and malware infested ticked box 'freeware' to not just click OK or Next, like for that mobile number trick by google as I also saw in my not real name google account.
I've see a lot of businesses and manufacturers put product demos on utube, but now I won't see other viewers comments, so I bet these will decline too.
I bet google staff will become less and less welcome at software conferences now, and will get booed and shunned.
Android Market Place already got broken the same way for comments, by the imposition of google+, so I can't comment there anymore, so refuse to buy any more apps, all because I will never provide a real name for any 'social' media site, so they nagged me to fix my 'invalid' credentials, so I told them to shove their google+ spy account. I only have a (not real name) gmail account for Android. I have a paid for Hushmail account for main email, and make full use of the alias registration feature.
I'm also using DuckDuckGo and StartPage search instead of google search now, both at at home and at work; so all I use Google for now is for Android updates, and only free Apps, so I expect to have no meaningful exposure to google at all soon!

There is Bitmessage available. https://bitmessage.org/wiki/Main_Page A sender places an encrypted message into an anonymous pool of messages. Everyone passes the pool around and tries to decrypt all the messages. Only the intended receiver can successfuly decrypt the message. There is no metadata on senders and receivers available for the NSA to snoop on and they cannot decrypt the messages either. The pool only holds the messages for 2 1/2 days so you have to check it about every second day. Group e-mails also exist for newsletter subscribers etc. The main drawback is that only a few thousand people are currently using it, but it has great potential. ZeroHedgers would make a good user group.

I would like to have an entire 'redo' of the web. All new browsers, social media and video hosting sites that vow and structure so that I can have some privacy and not have google interrupting every experience with a demand to give them information about me and what I like.

about a month ago I bought a google chromebook. I wanted to set up a google e-mail account, which I did. A week or so later when trying to access my account through the chromebook, I got a message that I could not access my g-mail because "there were some security concerns" and I would need to enter a telephone number where they could contact me with a pin code to unlock my e-mail. The thing is, I hadn't given a telephone number when I set up my g-mail to which they could connect my account, so I knew the the entire "security concern"was total bullshit, had nothing to do with "verification", but just a way to get my telephone number.... they had me by the balls, because unless I gave them my number, I wouldn't be able to access my e-mail......totally criminal.

I'm setting up an email server today. But I have a google account. No youtube account. I know how to do without YouTube but it is a bit technical.
I think that Google just shot themselves in the foot. This will upset a lot of people. Yahoo had the same problem when they changed the comment section on the Financial Blogs for each individual stock. Mass exit from the Blogs. Yahoo stock plumeted.
Although, Google states they are not involved with the Government and NSA. This in my opinion just cements the fact that they are in fact an arm of the NSA.
Try getting paid if you have an AdSense account. Google used to send you a check.
Now in order to be more "eco friendly" your only option is to give Google access to your checking account so they can transfer the money. And if you give them acccess to your checking account, you have to then monitor your checking account while Google sends a "test transfer" and then you have to enter the amount so the Google can verify that everything is working.
Seems to me they pinheads at Google might want to consider a few other options, like PayPal, eh. Let's see, here's my email address at PayPal, transfer the money, it's there within a few minutes, done. Coinstar gives a voucher good at many retail merchants. How about a pre-paid credit card. Comcast uses those. Or maybe even send a check, Citi just sent me one for my rewards account. None of these businesses asked for access to my checking account, not one. Only Google.
On what planet do the pinheads at Google think that the person that owes the money dictates the terms of payment. Even the IRS gives you the option of direct deposit or a check. Google has plenty of money, a check and a postage stamp won't cut into their revenues.
I talked to the people at the bank, and once you go through all the BS to set this up, and authorize access, they can remove money as well as deposit it. And the bank has no way to stop it. Thanks Wells Fargo.

I gave up posting on Youtube a long time ago when I realized they were keeping track of every post I made.
Now they want you to set up a G+ account which I have refused to do.
Keep in mind if you voluntarly give them the information on G+ the accumulation of data is not illegal. Maybe this is to cover up all of the information that they already gave to the Government illegally. Once you volunteer to give them the information you have no right of privacy with that information.
And they upload all shit ti cloud if you do the standard install. ..have to do the customize install and read all options carefully. ..the MS fucjs...
can anyone give some pointers as to the best free/paying alternatives to gmail? ive been putting off switching but this is just way too over the top.

Hushmail caved in to US pressure=all British Commenweath countries and the USA at the least are no-go for your personal security. Lots going on now via alternatives and new technology but I am not quite up to snuff on the whole deal...will be leaving Google-have a vimeo account. Ixquick is my search engine for now
It is next to impossible to find an email service the NSA can't worm it's way into.
There are a number of email services that do not trawl your content to generate ads etc. Hushmail is one example.
Google+ is a pig to use snywsy.
And Windows 8.1 tries the same shit when buy a new computer or upgrade ss well...
We need oncomputer that never connects to the net with you stuff on it...and a fictitious computer you connect tye net with...

I too am frustrated with the youtube/G+ nonesense. I have several youtube accounts and it's now a pain in the butt to switch between them.
For a while now I've avoided their "linking" me. Oh, and if you use Google Finance to track your stocks they now have a window into your mindset and money, and they can track you down to your CORPORATE NAME and PHYSICAL ADDRESS.
Everytime I do something they try to trick me into linking all my accounts. The syntax they use in the Pop Up windows is definitely designed to confuse.
Yes! Confused me. I honestly sat there for a while reading the questions about keeping your same name etc... and I didn't know which to choose. Then I clicked on the "x" (postponing the decision until the next time they asked me). I did that for months until just recently it all changed.
I hate that they keep asking me to use my "Real" name. The reason I have a screen name is because I do not want to use my "Real" name. I wish they had a button that said DO NOT ASK ME AGAIN. The only thing I think they are trying is that you will one day click the wrong button and not be able to change it.
I often wondered why they tied your e-mail to youtube. Now we know.

Don't worry about giving them a phone number. They are never going to call you. That is just for the NSA, et al.
It justs saves them work if everybody would sign up. They can find out basicly everything anyway, it just makes it easier for them if people do it themselves...
