i attended just such a show. it was sad; no volume of beer can cleanse the icky feeling...watching talent atrophy in service to obscene excess. i'm all for tinkerin with perception a bit here and there; but we have a responsibility -- one to another -- to maintain some semblance of sentience.
i once smoked a dube with DAC...i believe i've told the story here on the Hedge (or maybe over at keiserville...can't remember). but i do remember writing it online; and it would'a only been in one of those two locations. it's a good story, but needs a bit of set-up.
one of my uncles found his way around him once or twice (or several times more); now, this is an uncle who's friends with hacksaw jim duggins and rowdy roddy...other unsavory types, too. he played football at SMU and sold bonds in birmingham -- it goes with the territory.
anyway, this uncle introduced me to DAC, richard pryor and max banks (crooner at the lowndes county supper club, right off route 45; about six miles south of the crossroads...i believe it burnt down years ago)...so to that uncle i am exceedingly grateful. oh, he also explained why tanquerry (sp) is the best gin. all good advice. i just thought of something; all the influences named were farily free throwing round the "n"-word (it stands for nigger...shh!). so click with caution (you've been warned)

44 years ago last month for me, also at Ft. Jackson, janus. Since then my son has done a tour in Afghanistan, my grandson in Iraq. And I wonder - why is it we sacrifice so much and wind up with the government we've got? the people, yeah, great - those who care about God, family & country - but politicians who rule over all? It's like being served shit on a golden platter by a fool who swears it's good to eat, while he steals away with the serving tray.

not that this is any news to you, but southerners run the army and marines...the navy and af are from all over. it's more important to note that these services are stuffed to the gills and fully contained by the God-family-country olde-school set...nothing, and i mean NOTHING, will substanatively alter the ethos.
i haven't been all over this good, green earth (yet); but i've been around enough to know how impossibly special this land is. populated by the very best people on earth; a sublimely superlative blend of the world's finest found here.
