Stupid Government Policy Is More Dangerous than Terrorism

George Washington's picture

Preface: I am not so much anti-government as anti-stupid policy.  (Moreover, the problem is not bad government or even corrupt corporations. The real problem is the malignant,  symbiotic relation between the two.)

Multiple polls show that Americans are more afraid of our own government than of terrorists.

Sure, the government – not Al Qaeda – is taking away virtually all of our Constitutional rights.   And that includes reserving to itself the right to assassinate or indefinitely detain American citizens.

But stupid government policy is threatening us in other ways, as well.

The Police

For example, we’ve documented that you are 9 times more likely to be killed by a police officer than a terrorist.  (Legal experts say you should never talk to the police).

Financial Crisis

The financial crisis will also lead to quite a few early deaths.  The government – together with Wall Street – caused the financial crisis … not Al Qaeda.

Government policy has also redistributed wealth from the average American to the super- rich.

(Indeed, the government and big banks – not Osama – have destroyed free market capitalism in the U.S.)

Suicide

The number of deaths by suicide has skyrocketed recently, and many connect the increase in suicides to the downturn in the economy.

Around 35,000 Americans kill themselves each year.  Indeed, Americans are 2,059 times more likely to kill themselves than die at the hand of a terrorist.

And more American soldiers die by suicide than combat (the number of veterans committing suicide is astronomical and under-reported).

The wars that are causing the soldiers so much grief were planned 20 years ago … and are being fought for oil (and here) and gas.

Killer Drugs

According to a 2011 CDC report, poisoning from prescription drugs is one of the leading cause of death. Indeed, the CDC stated in 2011 that – in the majority of states – your prescription meds are more likely to kill you than any other source of injury. So your meds are thousands of times more likely to kill you than Al Qaeda.

After drug companies were busted for using fraudulent data for drug approval, the FDA allowed the potentially dangerous drugs to stay on the market.

And when one of the most respected radiologists in America – the former head of the radiology department at Yale University – attempted to blow the whistle on the fact that the FDA had approved a medical device manufactured by General Electric because it put out massive amounts of radiation, the FDA installed spyware to record his private emails and surfing activities (including installing cameras to snap pictures of his screen), and then used the information to smear him and other whistleblowers.

Contaminated Food

Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control  show that Americans are 110 times more likely to die from contaminated food than terrorism. And see this.

Yet the government is working hand-in-glove with the giant good companies to dish up cheap, unhealthy food.

The government’s response to the outbreak of mad cow disease was simple: it stopped testing for mad cow, and prevented cattle ranchers and meat processors from voluntarily testing their own cows (and see this and this).

The EPA recently raised the allowable amount of a dangerous pesticide by 3,000% … pretending that it won’t have adverse health effects.

In response to new studies showing the substantial dangers of genetically modified foods - they've already been tentatively linked to obesity, cancer, liver failure, infertility and all sorts of other diseases (brief, must-watch videos here and here - the government passed legislation more or less pushing it onto our plates.

When BP – through criminal negligence – blew out the Deepwater Horizon oil well, the government helped cover it up (and here).  As just one example, the government approved the massive use of a highly-toxic dispersant to temporarily hide the oil.   The government also changed the testing standards for seafood to pretend that higher levels of toxic PAHs in our food was business-as-usual.

Environmental Poisons

In fact, the government has long covered up environmental risks.

For example, the Centers for Disease Control – the lead agency tasked with addressing disease in America – covered up lead poisoning in children in the Washington, D.C. area.

The Bush administration covered up the health risks to New Orleans residents associated with polluted water from hurricane Katrina, and FEMA covered up the cancer risk from the toxic trailers which it provided to refugees of the hurricane.

And then there’s nuclear power.  The American government has:

Indeed, the archaic nuclear design used at Fukushima and throughout the United States was  chosen solely because it helps to make nuclear bombs.

Sadly, radiation from Fukushima and U.S. reactors will kill some Americans.   The National Journal reports:

“Look at what’s going on now: They’re dumping huge amounts of radioactivity into the ocean — no one expected that in 2011,” Daniel Hirsch, a nuclear policy lecturer at the University of California-Santa Cruz, told Global Security Newswire. “We could have large numbers of cancer from ingestion of fish.”

Indeed, one doctor claims that Fukushima had already killed 14,000 Americans 9 months after the accident.  We doubt her numbers … but it is clear that even low levels of radiation can damage human health.  Whatever the number, this was caused by the government … not Al Qaeda.

(The government also created a computer virus which threatens nuclear plants world-wide.)

Bad Government Policy Is Increasing the Risk of Terrorism

Oh and – by the way – the government’s actions are so idiotic that they are actually increasing the chance of a terrorist attack.

Obviously, the ungrateful ...

Everyone has some power to rob, and power to kill to back that up. That is the basis of government. However, it is exceedingly difficult to become more dishonest and violent than the government already is, especially since there are no rational ways to fight after the development of weapons of mass destruction.

In theory, a democratic republic operating through the rule of law is the best way to channel the power of "We the People" to rob and to kill. In practice, the best organized gang of criminals have already taken almost total control over the powers of government, while the vast majority of the People have been reduced to being Zombie Sheeple, being fleeced to exhaustion, while they are set up to be mass murdered.

Given that runaway social insanity, it seems only a question of time until things get bad enough that attempting to fight fire with fire will be the only thing left to try ... although that probably will not work then either ... Too bad, so sad!

and all this is why, if you believe in AGW, you are a fool

plenty of actual environmental problems to address, but that wont happen, because there is a tax collection scheme afoot, to fight something which is not real

which is a whole lot easier than pursuing things that are real

In today's imperial U.S., business-as-usual means more drone strikes, more proxy wars, more phones tapped, more civilian cops armed to the teeth, more SWAT raids, more handouts to the banksters, more pensions looted, more home foreclosures, more jobs offshored -- get it?

Our imperial masters have gone into a feeding frenzy, salivating over every last bit of public wealth available for looting. The masses are too frightened or too brainwashed or too entranced by electronic spectacles to defend themselves. Only crisis will bring on change...

Many of these tragedies have occured AFTER the Economic Hit Man decided to turn its sights on the mother load of wealth, the USA and the savings in "prviate" 401K retirement accounts.

Be as ready as you can.

It is difficult to take an early distribution from your 401K but one of the "get your pr-tax earnings out of jail free" cards is divorce.  We're already seeing more folks divorce but remain together as a way to avoid the marriage penalty on income taxes.  We're already hearing of folks considering the same in order to reduce the cost of their Obamanation Care.  Expect to see more use this escape hatch to get a hold of their earnings before Uncle Sam decides that he can manage it better than they can.

re Obama Doesn't Care, another 401K exception is distributions equal to the amount of your medical care that exceeds 7.5% of your GAI.  Because care includes the insane premiums about to be paid by the majority of Americans, Obamanation Care might itself provide another escape hatch

#40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

True enough, at first glance, TPTB, however, it is important to recognize that the international bankers were behind funding what we call "communism" to become an important social movement. Furthermore, the idealistic "communism" tends to not last more than a couple weeks after a revolution, until, once again, the most dishonest and violent people take over the new government. Therefore, it is mistaken to call those goals "communist."  They are goals of the oligarchical fascist plutocracy, to control everyone, and to destroy all possible opposition to their power, which exploit impossible ideals, to trick useful idiots into supporting them, before they are betrayed and murdered.

Destroying other people's families is obviously a form of warfare. I regard it as ridiculous to fall for the bullshit about "communism" as a reason to believe why that happened. Those with the most power and control got to be who they are by being best at dishonesty, and backing that up with violence. They promoted bullshit "communism" to trick people with impossible ideals, into causing the opposite to happen in the real world.

See my comment below for some of the bigger picture regarding what is really going on, which usually had almost nothing to do with the superficial ideals found in various ideologies, but rather almost always tended to cause the opposite to happen, which is why almost every socially significant political movement tends to have been funded by the same group of international bankers, for their ulterior purposes.

Based on the U.S. tax code and other things like Obamacare premiums I would say that the government is taking all kinds of pot shots at the institution of marriage. My wife and I would be better off financially if we divorced; not that I'll bring that up to her.

are you worried about Plum Island or the shortage of doxycycline? ...or something else.

GW...as an expert in some of what you refer to I must say you paint with too broad a brush. Take drug deaths for example. If asprin kills someone it is an unexpected death though a known statistical possibility. When some one dies as a complication of chemotherapy it is unfortunate but also a known possibility that was weighed against other bad outcomes. Other deaths such as abuses of certain meds (almost always with alcohol btw) are the resu;t of behaviors and usually not the drugs themselves.

It is good to point out problems but exageration does not help people make good choices in deciding what risks they wish to take.

Indeed there are risks everywhere. Smart people understand this and try to get good information so they can choose well.

Me, I always take a Geiger counter when I go out for ahi.

The Sky is Falling? Are you fucking daft man?

The MSM say that the LARGEST THREAT TO THE PLANET that is going to kill us all is GLOBAL WARMING

Then there are others of us like George with critical thinking skills who (unlike you obviously) knows where the real risks lie.

Don't take it personally xavi1951 it's not your fault you're a complete idiot... You are merely the perfectly polished product of a failed education system...

BTW... it's not actually the sky falling that we are worried about... it's things like the cesium-137 falling out of the sky that concerns us the most.

Not to worry, the government is spraying chemtrails in the upper atmosphere to soak up all that cesium-137.

And, with Obamacare and its high deductabiles, you'll be healthy in no time at all.

P.S. when Kalifornia renegs on your LEO pension I'll gladly tell you, in this order: 1) told ya so, and 2) go fuck urself.  meanwhile go have a heaping portion of pacific seafood and wash it down with a big glass of FDA-approved milk.

Remember when EU milk was contaminated after Chernobyl?  Think 100 to 1000X that scale if the TEPCO has an oops while removing more rods.  22 down; 1500 to go.

Would you have taken your grandchildren vacationing near the Deepwater beaches?  If you say that you have none, then speaking for what I'll assume is more people than myself, in order: 1) I can see why, and 2) thank you.

I struck nerve!  Good.  Have you read GW's articles and read his citations?  The similarity is really uncany.  It sure looks like GW is citing other articles by GW to support the new article as factual.  I do NOT take GW articles as gospel because GW says so.  If you want to live in fear in your parents basement, that is your choice.  I prefer to obtain a variety of information sources (avoiding MSM) and using that information to my advantage.  The sky is falling, the sky is falling is accurate if you only read GW material though you may be sheltered in the basement.

I may live on the left coast but it is NOT my political choice.  My family, grand-children included, are doing very well despite the efforts of the politicians because good information gave me the tools to protect us.  I bought a radiation detector/tracker years ago, based on information about a few nuke plants that were having issues.  So far it only acted up when I had an iodine isotope in the house.  My ilk would not have bothered Paul Revere about his tin foil hat because we keep a large stock of foil for making pirate hats out of.  The cone hats are out of style.

"Uh huh, right, and Paul Revere was a conspiracy theorist. Likely your ilk asked him about his tin foil hat."

So was George Washington. Read the Declaration of Independence.

"when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security"

If that isn't conspiracy theory I don't know what is.

It's time for Obama & friends to get back to work with some new "Whistleblower Protection" just like the new laws the Japanese passed...

To be honest however I'm not entirely sure that the whistleblowers really want to be protected for 10 years behind bars...
