Hmmm have you ever seen a  William Banzi comment with a negative reaction. Who is behind these downs. Read people before they stop

Wow, Bob Denver. The one and only 'celebrity' that I ever got an autograph from. 1964 at the LACMOMA, with his wife and baby in a stroller. I came on them alone outdoors, it was a John Mason sculpture exhibit. He was friendly. The only bit of paper I had on me was a Juicy Fruit wrapper, lost it years ago....

Thanks for sharing, little buddy..

Did he sign it in blood?

Did that Jap eject, or did he get hold of a couple of bad eggrolls?

JohnFrodo's picture

Although it may seem logical calling someone a Jap is just as bad as tne N word

williambanzai7's picture

Did you know there are no egg rolls in Asia? There is something called spring rolls but they are nothing like the egg rolls sold in Chinese restaurants in the US and they originated in SE Asia. The only rolls you will find in Japan are sushi rolls or in bakeries.

I think that guy ejected on a stale maki sushi.

pupdog1's picture

Good point. The moral of the story is, always cook your sushi to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.

Just got finished watching 'Virus'.

'Major John Carter' was kind of a tweaker, I think...

How do you say 'Life is wonderful', in Japanese, anyway, WB7?

It sure as HELL wasn't Chuck Connors's REALLY bad British accent that could convey it! That guy was a ham-fried steak! NO EGGS!

Mutually Assured Destruction is at least (somewhat) FAIR, and not DISCRIMINATE in who lives and who dies.

It reminded me of 'Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome', (at the end of the movie).

NO, it was like the end of 'Waterworld', but without Kevin (the fucking bad actor postman-person) Costner.

Karzai Death Watch: Chuck Hagel is in Afghanistan to negotiate (pretty word for threaten) the Afghan leader. The US wants to keep a counter terrorism presence (armed troops who can break into peoples homes without a search warrant) and Karzai says no, you all get the hell out of here by the 2014 deadline. What will Hagel say? (you think we're giving the Taliban help now, wait until you see what we give them after we're gone)

< Karzai never lives to see a full US pullout

< Karzai is replaced in a military coup

< Karzai writes a book about all the shit the US has been doing, and he spends all his time on the American talk show circuit, while our troops pretty much do as they always have in Afghanistan, while officially denying they are doing it.

< Karzai is assassinated but no one sees the body, and the US buries an unmarked coffin at sea. Residuals from his many book deals are still deposited at a Caribbean bank every month.

many choices, its a consumer economy in killing and intrigue. the China Japan territorial squabble is just another red herring in a sea of mendacity.

Karzai needs to read My War With The CIA by Prince Sihonouk

ThisTimeIsDifferent's picture

"My War with the CIA is Sihanouk's first memoir. It is essentially a propaganda tract. ...

In 1970, Sihanouk was overthrown in a coup led by two of his lieutenants, General Lon Nol and Prince Sirik Matak.... At that critical moment, Sihanouk chose to support the Khmer Rouge. Sihanouk's support was the engine that sparked the explosive growth of the Khmer Rouge. And it would be the Khmer Rouge who would drive Cambodia to the brink of annhilation."

williambanzai7's picture

Sihonouk turned into a desperate adherent to of the adage: the enemy of my enemies is my best friend.

Karzai needs to read it anyway.

.." The release was pushed out to late January '64. Watch Major Kong's lips during his quip that "a fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff," referring to the survival kit. The word "Vegas" was overdubbed to replace the original "Dallas."

Reportedly, when Ronald Reagan became president he asked to see the War Room in the White House. When his Chief of Staff said that the War Room did not exist, Reagan assured him that he'd seen it in that movie, Dr. Strangelove." ...
reminds me of that mark twain quote about the things that you are sure of
but are wrong ...
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.
Mark Twain

there probably is a war room. its just that puppet politicians don't ever get to step foot in it.

oh yes, it was located under 33 Liberty St, but then I heard it was relocated to some big airport in colorado

the screening of dr. strangelove was scheduled for 11/22/1963 but was cancelled due
to other more horrible news of the day. there was subsequently a change in the dialogue
required. the part where the pilot, pickens, comments "shoot, a fella could have a pretty
good time in dallas with all that stuff." or like that. if you watch you see his
lips say "dallas" but the words come out "vegas".
anyway ...
seasons greetings!

So Banzai, let's get you on the record -- who's claim do you support, Japan's or China's?

It is a conundrum. Rather than siding with China or Japan, I think they should probably fold it all into a free Okinawa. This is not an idea I have dreamt up. There are people who think there should be a return of a Ryukuyuan state.

The other two alternatives are a binary path to war. And I am certain there are many in positions of power who would like to see it happen.

NeedtoSecede's picture

Good call WB7.  Never happen, but good call nonetheless.  I was fortunate enough to make several trips to Okinawa back in the 80's and 90's, and they just wish the Japanese and Chinese would just leave them alone.  This ain't the first time these folks and their beautiful islands have been the focus/way points of the Chinese and Japanes over the last few centuries.

I was fortunate to travel to several of the surrounding islands/communities and got to know many locals across a couple generations.  They don't care much for the Chinese, they really don't like being tied to Japan, and they are really getting tired of the Americans and the bases there...

the grateful unemployed's picture

that has about as much chance as an independent Kurdistan. Hussein's brother gassed Kurdish villagers, and W Bush used that as a plank in his war policy against Iraq. by the time the war was over Bush was calling Kurds the enemy. (they have a lot of oil) and later Iran and Turkey had a joint military operation against the quote Kurdish rebels. well it all looks so warm and fuzzy when the MSM tells it
