WTF...it IS Thursday night.
Tomorrow morning, first light, I have to cut down and buck three (dead) red oaks, all over 100' tall..anyway. Tree #1 is uprooted and leaning on tree #2; just begging to fall on my head. Now that I'm lapsing once again into insobriety...I've hatched a plan.
Tree #3 is uphill of all of them all and I intend to drop it on tree #1...clearing the way to cut tree #2.
I'm gonna wear my helmet and chaps (if I can find them) because it's a little dangerous.
So, here's hoping I win the lottery. If I do I'll say "fuck it" and buy me a CAT C32.

To be honest, I struggle to stay focused while limbing. My tendency is to go pretty fast and I don't switch to a smaller saw when I really should. Touching a leg with a chain saw is bad news. (Put the kevlar chaps on!) When I'm preparing to fell something big I get hyper-focused and more often than not drop it exactly where I want.
Especially when I'm doing a domino trick.
It's pretty hard work but I like it. I love it actually. My dogs come in the woods with me and are smart enough to keep their distance. This morning it was 20 degrees when I started work and an hour later I was sweating pretty good...down to a single shirt. This particular stock is on my property and will sit - split and stacked for at least a year. We save money two ways...it heats our house all winter ..and I don't have to spend money at the gym while staying strong just the same.
