great tune, blindman...

i figure ms. holiday didn't receive the accolades she deserved (and still doth) because she was more a woman than a feminist...pity that.  if only ms. holiday had been a lesbian, there's no telling how often we'd hear her.

but, alas, (and for times present) women that adore men are anathema...it's such a wretched thing, The Natural Order -- and all efforts to overturn it are, doubtless, virtuously sanctioned by some coven of something that displeases me so.

here's a few songs from women; women who weren't ashamed of so being...who were, in point of fact, happy to be as much -- and to seek and discover the fullness of their being therewith.

ahhh, WildBill, i have the house to myself for a few hours; no telling what manner of mischief may in this cauldron of blessed solitude stew and simmer.

i have an idea...and it's of the productive sort.  this is a story that's gonna find its way into chapter 24 -- which i'll get to shortly; and since i haven't yet drafted it, i suppose i'll tinker with it now; as it's perfectly apropos your post; at least, insofar as it's about politicians; more specifically, one politician.

the following is every bit the truth; and there can be little doubt that those involved will someday swear to that effect.

so, with almost no further ado, the story of janus and his encounter with future presidential candidate and current senator, mark warner.

a little ado:

okay, before i get into all this, i want to emphasize something: and though this should go without saying, saying it explicitly does but little harm, and it moreover trains your attention in the proper channels. that being said, and in spite of the trappings and customs respecting celebrity, the focus of this narrative will be sharpened on the most obvious and instructive of subjects -- that'd be janus.

dusk was doing what it does best; day was settling its affairs with night, and the most ancient of rituals was in front of me passing through the stations of its rites.

this was, i guess, late-springish in new england.  i was, about this time, beginning to make a habit of swimming in and stomping about Walden's Pond on an every-other-day basis.  i could, right now, peel off reams of fancy-worded open verse -- heavily laced with passionately biased affection -- for this most splendid of places.  instead, i'll tell you why i bring this up to begin with.

(as an aside: think what you will, but i have a firmly established belief that, in considering the various places most conducive to truly absorbtive reading, an edenic, silent and isolated lake front granite pallet is among the very best.  i will not on this point be dissuaded.)

walden pond is a superlative choice for reading; and that superlativeness is exaggerated in extremus if'n you come equipped with a truly special book.  i had one at the ready.  and i came ready to use it!

so i for a long time lost the book i was during the Walden phase reading.  this book has, in some ways, altered me forever; but there is more to this book that what's printed on its pages.

i recently found it; have since finished it; and after sucking it dry and luxuriating in it, i flipped through its pages to recall some of its finer moments, and did then attempt to restore the first glisten of their gilded genius.  i then saw an email address, scrawled in the front cover in penmanship that is immediately familiar (my own); this, dear friends, is the detail germane to this-here story of yet another janus-brush with power.

*****interlude.  i'm going to go and fetch another cup of coffee; smoke a cig or two; and try my best to reckon why women are at some times so wonderful when they are so much more than close; and, then again, at times other, they are even better when great distance is happily placed betwixt ye and she...tis an enigma; perhaps a lil help from neil young whilst i coffee-up*****

***********interlude over************

as i was saying, dusky late-springish/early-summer new england, greater boston (metro west), janus fretting noiselessly over the state of affairs on this fair globe of ours; thinking (as is his bent) that things could stand some improvement -- that there were ideas within him not yet minted into circulation.  what wants more for an idea than an audience? was my immediate conclusion on matters.

and so i prayed: "Lord, deliver unto me a senator; such that i may, in my own artful way, do something in service to the art of persuasion as regards these ideas of mine and other suchlike observations.  thanking you in advance, your humble servant, janus."

and so, just about that time, the call comes: "three-six (that's my number on the cab-to-cab cb radio), pick up at 'such & such' address...and tarry not!"

and so i made haste to the address transmitted.

let me put it this way, the people who own this house are not ostentatious; and that fact is discerned through observation of subtle detail.  all the same, it didn't require but the meanest endowment of perceptive capacity to know that they could easily afford all the ostentation they wanted, and then some.  this was the address of someone who'd been keeping score in life; and the total tally is, in all likelihood, spread about in large deposits across the several continents.

and lo, there did from therein emerge a perky & bright-eyed blond; she came bounding to my window.

"so sorry about the delay...we'll just be a few more minutes...please turn the meter on."

she was so polite; so very sweet; so impossibly sincere; and she was bent over just so, just so, if'n i weren't such a gentleman, i could, had i not been so gentlemanly, taken in the specter of her most fulsome bosom.   but since i didn't even for a flash of a moment look, i'll only say that, as bosoms go, that was some kinda fulsomeness!  ZHealots, that wasn't cleavage; that was cleavland.

anyway, my habit is to smoke when i demand compensation for patience; and so i did...there was also the matter of that bosom to brood over.

so bout mid-way through the second cig, they come striding out together -- the senator and his aide (miss fulsomeness) -- and so i toss the smoldering cig out on the driveway (sorry about that, rich fella.  look, they're filterless, they practically melt when it rains...besides, jose needs something to do to keep that landscaping contract.  it is but consistent to my constant magnanimity -- always contributing to the 'economy' in one way or another...that's just janus.  i accept all gratitude)

it didn't take me long to realize that i should be able to recognize this guy.  you see, after a few pleasantries, i still had no idea with whom i was casually chatting.  but i hadn't yet made eye contact; and after doing such, i knew i should know who this guy is/was.

my brain was already taxed enough, and so i didn't want to force it though some cycle of specific identification.

this senator warner was a real class-act; all i had to do was ask, and he came right out with his full name, and quickly explained why i would have some foggy notion of familiarity.

i then spelled out the highlights of his professional and political career...dossier-style.  just so he knew that i knew with whom i was speaking.

i could at this point do one of two things; the first, and most obvious of which, is to detail all that was said and what positions i took and which among them the senator from virginia likewise espoused.  i'm not going to do this.  i will, however, say that the lion's share of our policy-chat centered on healthcare and strategic international positioning.  exactly, silly stuff; stuff both meaningless and best left in the cab.  and so, before i get on with the story, i will also say that senator warner is a highly intelligent man -- i was/am sincerely impressed; and i rarely am in this world of ours, where nearly every important chair cushions the sorry ass of some dolt, dimwit or dullard of the most embarrassingly stunted intellectual order.  but i digress...

i was 'this' close to requesting permission to smoke (i am, as i said, a gentleman)...seeing how virgina still grows the world's finest bright-leaf tobacco...but i let the impulse pass, and instead endured one of the pleasentest and most stimulating conversations i've yet had in the cab sans my beloved nicotine.

suffice it to say, janus and senator warner bonded.  i cannot deny this. i've since done all i could to marshal all the forces of contempt against him, and array them with the best intentions, and prepare against him and his position as senator a blistering screed of hilarity...but i failed, as the force within was against the project.  you see, i am prejudiced against DC, both houses of our bi-cameral, and, most especially, the executive; and so i felt it incumbent of me, being janus and all, to in some way use mark warner to make a parody of it all...but, again, i like the guy.  can't seem to get passed that.  there's that, and the fact that i'm duly convinced he's a man of good will.

now, shortly after exiting the mass pike, i got lost...good and lost...twenty-plus minutes wortha lost.  whether or not janus had any purpose in pursuing an inanely circuitous route to the senator's hotel, very few can say; and janus is remaining mum on the matter.

but janus finally got him and blondie to the front door...all our nation's acronymed agencies expelled a massive exhaust of relief in simultaneous chorus...and the buxom cutie gave janus her email address, which i scrawled in that book i was reading.

perhaps, in my appendix, i'll include the email janus sent the next night (after imbibin the better part of a magnum of merlot)...it is pure classic-janus; done in the high-style i claim as my own.

and, if you're reading, senator warner, i mean and meant no offense...it's just that i'm a cowboy -- i've determined to do things my own way; but that's not to say that cowboys can't be friends.

i'll close by saying that none of you should be surprised to see senator warner challenge ms. rodham from the 'great' state of illinois for the democratic laurel wreath...and you should furthermore keep yourself from fits of consternation if'n you see janus do what lil mote he may in support of senator warner and his efforts there regarding.

if there is to be another president, i sure as shit will not endure another term of...well, i'll leave all that for another time and place.  for now, a few tunes as i watch dusk settle in whilst night subsumes the day, over a frozen cove, here in my own lil pocket of buzzard's bay.

This asshole called me tonight.LOL  I have had way too many calls from politicos of late.  Give me money, give the party support... I don't answer anymore.  I am backing out now.  I have done three election cycles now and have been elected as a party officer each time via the RP folks.  I think I am done now.  Six years worth of trying my ass off to fix what I knew could not be fixed is enough.

I am not insane because I do not expect a different result.  It is your turn now.  I will not answer the call this time.  I will take hundreds more phone calls but I will ignore them all.

This guy bothered to call me from his actual phone which I backtraced.  He did not leave a message.  Nice website.  What a douche.

After developing EHS & listening to JA last 4 min of 30c3 pt 2, the alleged smart grid IMO is going to be used for nefarious purposes. That smart meter on your house puts dirty electricity on your line & turns your house wiring into an antenna. When these things ping off each other at 3am, I experience tachycardia. Pulse rate taken manually, w/ a BP cuff or an IPhone app give the same results. The difference being you can read the progress in the IP app. Like a capacitor discharging reading 193,111,61 rinse repeat. Doctors don't recognize it or have a clue. There's a plethora of symptoms these things cause & sooner or later you'll know someone affected. Take a look see at declassified Naval Medical research. They're beginning to scrub the traces of this.

Seriously funny. Check out the Aussie link.

These bastards placed a cell tower at the primary school my kid attended. It has since been removed. How many came down with leukemia before it was removed.

Last year the local electric provider notified me to take the lock off my meter so they could "upgrade" it with a new smart meter, I went out and watched as they installed the rest of the neighborhood.

To my way of thinking, it was a pitiful sight something akin to watching neighbors being loaded into slave ships.

Yesterday the meter reader came by to physically read my meter and one other down the street.. the point is, all the rest of the good sheep had been converted and in place.

To me it's sad to see everyone in the neighborhood willingly accept the new normal and the new meters to go with it, willing to assist their masters by slipping their own chains on like trained seals.

I realize that when the time comes to ration power or before I will be dealt with accordingly and will be made to come into compliance, but 99% just went down without even a question.

..we have lost the nation.

It took me a while to master the look and I am not done yet. I love vintage Japanese wood block prints.  And when my printer gets finished with it, people will have a difficult time telling the difference (sarc).

That's why it's called a Another New Leaf...;-)
