OK, he's a Canuck, really, but ever hear of a fellow named Neil Young? Woody Guthrie IS revered, in many places where the next thing you might hear is Leonard Cohen or Bruce. Sometimes I think you guys must be really young - you weren't around when the SO  Many of Us actually changed the world, stopped a war and brought about a (regrettably short) period of peace and prosperity (1968-1979). Then your parents (my generation) snorted their brains out for the next decade, fucking the whole thing up for you and yours. Us and ours.

Funniest damned thing, though, isn't it? Doesn't matter where you sit or stand, whether you like it or not, regardless of thought, belief or interpretation, but we are damned sure all stuck with what we have now.

Say WHAT?!!?

America is chock full of anti-capitalists.

They're just not carrying torches anymore because they won.

Hi there. Are you a large person? Pleasantly plump? A little on the hefty side, perhaps? Well, let's face it: Are you FAT? When you go jogging, do you leave pot-holes? When you make love, do you have to give directions? At the zoo, do the elephants throw YOU peanuts? Do you look at a menu and say 'OK'? Well, now, you can eat all you want, because at Thornton Melon's "Tall & Fat" stores, we've got you covered. That's right. Fine woolen, and woolen-blend suits and sport coats, in all the larger sizes - husky, stout, extra-stout, and the new Hindenburg line. And for you ladies we have caftans, muumuus, and our own exclusive A-frame in all colors and patterns. Yes, we have miles and miles of fabric. So take it from me, Thornton Melon, if you want to look thin, you hang out with fat people.       Thornton Mellon

- I always try to encourage morbidly obese people. So keep your chins up, Krispy K

- In other news, Krispy K wants the term Obese is to be phased out as a taboo word. Just as well, I always preferred the term fat cunt anyway.

What Napoleon had done was the most God Awful thing ever done...up to that point...in human history. "But he did For France"...and not only France...but all of Europe as well. And even today all of France...all of Europe and perhaps even Britain...they know this. There was no "ethos"...just "cause" and purpsose. Their are no parades anymore...there is no "America"...at least not that any American I am aware of can identify with. We may not have "lost" in the spectacular sense of our Waterloo...but we have withdrawn...connected to the world and now disconnected from each other...lost in an epic battle of "notariety" and "invasion." No longer do we have to cheer for as he retires but ourselves to flee from as we are obliterated as the last and final looting proceeds to its inevtible end. As is often in this quixotic land somehow, someway a "new way" has been discovered...not to preserve what we have but to rebuild from the utter destruction of 2008. It's purpose is not to support what exists today but to in fact be rid of it...and this "thing" (shale drilling, three d printing, the revolutions in the materials space, commercial space exploration, and of course the mightiest of them all..."the Internet of Things") will be "us"...not the great purpose or whole...but these realities and our existence within them. The Lord and Master is money...again...not spirituality, not belief, not honor, not dignity...nothing to define a human as somehow worthy of being even that...a human...just some "thing" now...dialed in, connected, and executing upon "the protocol." having created the machine...the machine becomes us now. writ large..."solving everything." the only thing that stands out it would be..."is that hot head who's really, truly and in ridiculous and ludicrous honest just phucking pissed off."

CG, quiet is relative.  Cogitation in the presence of prevailing cognitive dissonance, from which concept you take your pseudonym [this word always looks funny to me, like it's not real or something!], takes time to work through, transforming thought into articulate phrasing worth viewing by esteemed readers of ZH (if they be not totally steamed, in contrast to bathing veggies briefly in the outpouring of highly heated water), then navigating MS WORD to get it through.  Working on it!  In the meantime, I refer you to a comment I posted in response to the expatriat's article on leaving the US, in which I offer a clue to roads less traveled, standing at the CARREFOURS, as I (we?) do.

To the point, WB7, you and Mr. Dees run head to head for the best ever in this century in what you do!

I have finally weaned myself completely off the Big Box retail stores. In another words I have gone almost completely native by avoiding retail premises frequented by Western expats ;-)

You have a more refined aesthetic than Mr Dees.  He tends towards the garish and raw.  Art can take the the raw and painful and present it in a  framework of perspectives that makes it tolerable without obscuring it.  Thanks for your good work.

I don't like this guy at all but this is a classic political hit.   You keep some little scandal or issue in your back pocket for the right time.

Who did it?  Well the Clintons and Bushes are friends and Obama works for their bosses as well.   Bill's is CFR aka Rockefeller.

Christie probably "ain't" in their club.  He is no Ivy league alaphabet agency club member.   Obama probably did as much Ivy League classwork as those union worker big shots on the ghost payroll who never show up.

Here is the weird part.  Yesterday on another web site there was a link to an article in a West Coast FL newspaper. This area is politically conservative.   Before Christie's scandal got traction, this newspaper had an editorial that now is the time for Jeb Bush.  Obviously, this is Rove/Bush crap that was already in the hopper.

This was a classic case where the Cartel has dirt on you and when the bigger fish above you want you out - they use it.  The disgusting newsmedia was all over this in a second.

Sat, 01/11/2014 - 21:51 | 4323998 williambanzai7

But this scandal broke almost immediately, unless I have my timeline wrong.

I don't doubt that those other people are relishing his demise though.

There are so many scandalous things that Obozo has escaped simply because he plays by the rules written by his overlords.

But that does not excuse Crispie for his sins.

In the end we will find out he either knew about this or took the willful ignorance route. It may well be the latter.

I'm not familiar with the status of Joisy taxation but his groveling before King Minus sealed his fate with many. It was sealed (with me) on his position regarding peoples rights in that state. Rights, impeded by any government are no trifling matter.

"Christie, widely seen as a probable GOP candidate for president in 2016, signed off on the slate of bills, most of which were non-controversial, while leaving five more contentious bills still awaiting his signature or veto.

One of the new laws will disqualify any person on the federal terrorist watch list from obtaining firearms identification cards or permits to purchase handguns.

“To the extent that this bill will keep guns out of the hands of known terrorists, or those who have taken active steps to support terrorist activities, my signature on this bill represents my commitment to keeping the citizens of New Jersey safe,” Christie said in a signing statement. “Our diligence against terrorism must never fade.”

Civil liberties advocates have criticized the watch list for its secrecy. The list is not public, nor can one petition to have his name removed from it. There were about 420,000 names on the watch list as of 2011. It has swollen to nearly 900,000 as of this year."

http://freebeacon.com/christie-signs-10-gun-bills-into-law/

In as few of words as possible...fuck him for the pandering fool he is. If there really are almost a million on the super secret federal Star Chamber Terrorsit Watch List, they wouldn't be buying them in a gun restrictive state like New Jersey anyways.

He's a small time statist douche with illusions of grandeur.

The simple signing of a bill, with the perfunctory blah blah blah can reveal more about a person than they realize. He cites federal issues while he signed into the force a state law upon his constituents.

This is the embodiment of what I oppose and marked him as a complete douchebag.

Although, I have to say, no lives were lost in the crossing of this bridge ;-)
