The Grand SCOTUS Facade
The Grand SCOTUS Facade
By
Cognitive Dissonance
There is a widely held and increasingly difficult to believe myth that the three branches of the United States government operate independently from each other, thus acting as checks and balances upon each other. And the reality is that as long as it suits The Empire’s self interest those three branches of government will outwardly appear to operate as directed by the constitution.
But if the supremacy of The Empire is threatened by external or internal forces those very same three governmental branches, either separately or in unison, will act to protect The Empire and its special interests………and the Constitution be damned if it gets in the way. Let me repeat that. The Empire will protect itself from itself, from its own greed, corruption, malfeasance, incompetence and especially from its oppressed and enslaved citizens. It is then that the facade of separation of powers begins to slip and fade away.
For example in decades past the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) affirmed slavery in America and then approved by abstention Abraham Lincoln’s blatantly unconstitutional power grab from the states, only to rule against it after the Civil War had ended and the damage had been done. Incredibly they even ratified the corralling of US citizens of Japanese descent during WW2 and the taking of their property without compensation.
And just recently The SCOTUS confirmed that the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, was constitutional because it’s just a little tax after all. Some said this was a surprising decision, but we knew it was a slam dunk because it supported the teetering Empire with additional tax revenue and control of its ‘citizens’. And this doesn’t even begin to cover the actual list of Empire ass covering rulings by The SCOTUS nor does it mention the long list of legislative or executive affronts to ‘We the People’.
Similarly, as long as it suited The Empire the myth was widely propagated that the USA was the land of milk and honey and egalitarianism ran riot in the streets. As long as productivity increases outpaced the cost of gruel and there was still plenty of financial leverage to exploit, the slaves of the nation were fed a steady propaganda diet of shared prosperity for their share of the elbow grease.
This comforting myth was helped along by switching from one wage earner households to two under the guise of equal rights for women and upward mobility for all. In addition, plenty of cool gadgets and baubles were produced and sold (at double the cost plus profit of course, this being the birth place of [crony] capitalism) in order to entertain the debt and wage slaves while carefully disguised, but none-the-less much higher than advertised, inflation ate them alive.
Now that it is no longer in the best interest of the now bloated and corrupt Empire to maintain the facade, the pretty red velvet curtain at the back of the stage is slowly being removed and the crumbling brick wall is exposed for all to see. It’s time to tighten our belts my fellow peons because the elite are having trouble maintaining their year over year double digit increases in wealth.
As many are beginning to realize, the dismantling of the middle class has begun in earnest and the various branches of government are now obviously and blatantly rallying to protect and serve The Empire. This is accomplished using many brilliantly applied techniques such as bait and switch social programs, bread and circuses for the masses, fear mongering for the weak willed and impressionable, nationalistic propaganda, manufactured left/right ideological conflicts and that old standby, good old fashioned subterfuge. Who doesn’t love it when they slop more lipstick on the pig and slap another coat of wet paint on the dry rot?
It was with this firmly in mind that I stumbled across a photo essay in Politico Magazine entitled “18 Photographs That Will Change Your View of Washington”. This was not my fault; I clicked on a link, then another link, then another when suddenly I found myself in the cesspool of Politico Magazine. Upon arriving and realizing I was already knee deep in DC excrement I plunged ahead and clicked away.
What I found after the third or fourth click took my breath away and shocked me in a way I had never quit experienced. I was so startled that I just stared at the image open mouth and mesmerized, not quite believing my eyes, stunned that ‘they’ would do such a thing. At one point I turned to Mrs. Cog in disbelief and begged her to look at my screen and confirm that what I was seeing wasn’t really what I was seeing. Alas, Mrs. Cog verified that while I may be old and senile, my cataracts had not blurred my vision to such an extent that what I thought I was seeing was not.
It seems that the exterior of the Supreme Court building is undergoing what was described as renovations and some scaffolding needed to go up. While it didn’t mention why they do so, it is common practice to place tarps over the exterior of the scaffolding to catch stray dirt and debris. In fact I believe that somewhere in the constitution there is a passage about keeping the Supreme Court Justice’s black robes clean at all costs during remodeling, so the tarps were completely understandable.

What was so alarming to me was the image that had been printed on the tarp which covered the entire depth and breadth of the SCOTUS building. A life size (and anatomically correct) picture of the SCOTUS building facade had been painted on the tarp, which was in turn covering the actual SCOTUS building facade, which itself is just an architectural fantasy and placed there only to project an image of strength, integrity and justice for all. I was staring at a simulation of a simulation of a lie if you will, and at taxpayers’ expense no less. Simply amazing the size balls these guys and gals have.
Personally I suspect they’re looting the place under cover of tarp and when the wraps come off martial law will go up and the ugly brick wall will be fully exposed for all to see. Of course this is precisely when the SCOTUS will spring into action and rule that the final nail driven into the constitution is in fact constitutional precisely because it serves to support The Empire.
It is my understanding that something similar was done to the Washington Monument while they repaired the damage done by God’s wrath, also known as an earthquake. And now I read that the Dome of the U.S. Capital Building is currently undergoing a two year restoration because that too is falling apart at the seams. No word yet on if they will paint a picture of the dome on the Dome, but personally I vote for an image of the Three Stooges instead. It’s so apropos.

P.S. – Don’t you just love this image of some tourists taking a picture of the picture of the SCOTUS facade? It speaks volumes about your average American.

Then again, the above picture is a picture of tourists taking pictures of a picture of the SCOTUS facade. Just where this all ends is anybody’s guess. Cue the hall of mirrors.
<Please, someone take a screenshot of this image and pass it on. It’s the patriotic thing to do. >

Nailed it.
Third layer of icing:
A woman can legally "choose" to kill her child,
but once the child is born, the mother loses
the choice of where the child is educated....
Now there's some Cog-Dis!
I'll tell you the reason for all this rot, although you may be aghast and start hating me for this --> Immoral women. Uncontrolled Women.
Dont believe me? Fine. Leave me to my, in your opinion rotten, beliefs.
But just use your brains. Only request i have to all of you
Why single out women.
Immorality and greed respect neither race nor gender.
And just like that... the entire male half of the population is excused from personal resposibility. Just blame it on the sick chicks.
Rape or incest Woman can choose abortion, because it was not her choice.
Otherwise, joint custody (50/50), no abortion, no adoption, and no money changes hands whatsoever; watch responsibility and respect go through the roof.
at least we're decisive ...unless it's cars, and sports maybe coworkers
Men's relationships are vertical, women's are horizontal (no, not that). Men operate under a hierarchy, top dog to bottom dog in relationships up and down the ladder. Alphas and betas. Women approach relationships as if everyone is nominally at an equal level. Men work to get as high on the ladder as possible. Women argue about trivialities and get in little cat-fights as the try to get just a little more equal among equals (actually their own little private top to bottom ladder cloaked in "equality"). Ever seen a strong military structured on anything but the overt top dog to bottom dog chain of command? Nope, me neither. Now, how is the UN structured?
As a proud American male I always remember this phrase when it comes time to saving my ass and avoiding personal responsibility.

Zevon was one of my favorite songwriters. I was sad to see him go.

Well done tip e. Accountibility is so passe. ;-)
Ouch.
No wonder why Mr. Cog behaves himself.
lol. At this point I can often answer him with a brilliant quote from one of his articles. My favorite part is when he asks, "Oh yeah, who said that?" :-)
Early onset senility is a bitch. :)
Well I guess CD's view is kind of the down side. Like The horse walks into a bar joke... The up side is - It isn't our Supreme Court building. It isn't our Capitol Dome. And the White House definitely belongs to "Others" So Why the long face?
Hell, there's at least 4 members in the House that haven't completely sold us out. And there are at least two members of the Senate that aren't traitors. It looks like good guys in the US military stopped the Obama gang in mid November from carrying out a False Flag to take down the electric grid. Fukashima probably will take another five to ten years before Japan is gone and the West coast of the US might make it 5-10 years before it has to be evacuated. It will take another two generations before Monsanto's GMOs completely sterilize the entire population... So we got a little breathing room thank goodness.
Say, what would the Duke do in this situation?

i was a fan of scotus until i listened to their arguments why there was no time to count the votes in FLA in 2000, and that george bush must be president. i'm sure in their infinite wisdom, when the mics were turned off, and the bourbon poured, that someone said, what the hell is the difference, and the rest nodded. but i still have my illusions
my sister in law was clerking there when in happened. Said some were pouring drinks, others had a WTF expression. But you're right, the "electronic voting" age had grown up
Many of us, myself included, clutch our illusions close to our breast lest we be forced to actually do something in order to make lasting changes to the system. Thus as long as conditions are never as bad as our worst fears we always have wiggle room to justify doing nothing. The vast majority of us subject ourselves to self control, thus no need for the heavy hand of an overt dictator. The true motivation for so many of us not to revolt is that the results might just be worse than our present situation. This is why the slave master only needs to discipline the troublemaking minority. The rest of us will quickly fall in line as long as warm gruel waits for us at home.
That is a good description of me CD, in my time I've actually known what it is to go without Gruel, I was young then, now I am old, old enough to know the road will end some day, I hope and pray my road won't end from a lack of gruel, a fate not uncommon in the World, perhaps a fate to be visited upon some of us?
Do you think we have a need to believe, or is it a learned response?
@ Sparkey - Do you think we have a need to believe, or is it a learned response?
Cog said:
I suggest that the best way to start this process is to banish the words ‘believe’ and ‘belief’ along with the phrase ‘I believe’ (and all its derivations) from your mental and verbal vocabulary. The words and phrase imply ownership and reflect our conditioning even when they are being used honestly and without conditions. Contrary to popular ‘belief’, when we believe something it now controls us and not the other way around. Using these words contradicts our desire to embody every single tidbit of information with equal weighting simply because to believe one thing is to disbelieve another. We are suspending judgment, which means we are suspending belief.
Over time our beliefs become heavy sacks of concrete which we must struggle to carry around wherever we go and which become white elephants that chain us to the belief stake we have driven into the ground. They morph into a terrible burden that controls our every act, though we desperately tell ourselves the opposite in order to deny the suffering they cause us. Our beliefs are our emotional and spiritual straightjackets and they become the very source of our own psychosis. http://www.zerohedge.com/article/dispatches-occupied-territory-%E2%80%93-awakening
Constantly expose your beliefs to the scientific method, always question them and make sure they measure up. Oh wait, the current thing is to treat "science" like a belief, always settled, never questioned. Hmmm, why might that be so?
Dear Mrs Cog: In my own life I have overcome the need for rigid ideals and fixed positions, but i still need my dogma. Is there something wrong with me?
There appears to be a little something wrong with each of us... and thank goodness! How else would we learn?
Lol,
The trouble with planting flags is that you become obligated to defend them even if they have no business being there.
"Do you think we have a need to believe, or is it a learned response?"
Is it nature or nurture?
I feel it is a bunch of both. But for those who reject the nature concept (because so many people use that as an excuse not to do anything about their inner flaws) it can be an uphill battle to accept that some things we are born with and some things we learn and some things that we learn fan the flames of the things we are born with.
And those who wish to control us will condition us to serve our own egos and our worst instincts. Because it suits their divide and conquer method of control.
Nature or Nurture?
Actually, it's a false dichotomy. To be in line w/the Law of Non-Contradiction it should read, nature or NOT nature, with the "not nature" category subsuming everything else (not just rearing/environmental factors). Things like volition for one.
Beware this trap, as politicians love to set it. It frames and constrains the argument in to terms they can more easily control. Guns or butter? (but I dont want more government spending on either) Liberty or security? (see Ben Franklin's comments in this regard) Central bank independence or CB under political control? (how about no central bank?)....see the pattern?

Rense?
Nice rant. I saw that tarp last summer and thought how odd.
Of course the entire time I was there I couldn't stop thinking what a waste everything was. And people go there to reinforce their awe of Statism. Made me nauseous.
Visited DC with the family in '07 and found the whole place to be very creepy. Except the Vietnam Memorial. That was the only part of it that had real people and real emotion, rather than the Disneyland queue and ride that the rest of the place seems to be.
I first visited DC around 1991 or 92 when I came down to visit with my sister. As a history buff I was overwhelmed by the similarities with Rome as I traveled down the main drag and was surrounded on both sides by huge stone buildings.
Of course you thought that CD, Washington IS Rome.
Faschi in the Senate? Roman Columns EVERYWHERE.....
And Congrss is just sex...
Nice article.....the facade is squared....
ori
DC is a big tourist attraction, you know (or used to be? I don't know. I've seen billboards in other countries for "visit DC" or "visit California" or some shit like that, but that's a while back. Haven't traveled much after the crash.). That's why they have to do this. People love getting peeped on. Fucken sluts.
The NSA is there to make sure that the results desired are gotten. Blackmail is a powerful tool.
Blackmail has been the favored tool of political control for thousands of years. Why stop now just when the technology is getting really good?
Yep, makes it almost too easy now...........
SCOTUS?? What a joke.
http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/blsupremejokes.htm
OK, that was some epic winning. Kept me laughing all the way down the page.
The SCOTUS not striking down Obamacare was one of the biggest dissapointments of my life. It said that there are no longer any Constitutional protections against fascism. Justice Roberts caving in was the end of us.
An even scarier thought is that "Justice" Roberts was acting on his principles. After all, he was a Bush appointee, what could you expect, someone without principals?
Yes?
At some point in our lives we have all been whores. It's just the price that's negotiable.
<The system is designed to force all of us into the same compromising situation.>
SCOTUS decides to hear part of the Argentina Sovereign bond case.....
When Ashcroft just 'had' to cover lady justices' breasts that this country was in trouble. He obviously had no care as to what it really meant.
http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/nation/2002/01/29/statues.htm
The SCROTUS is just following suit, they are preparing for demons to 'administer justice' to this once great nation. I wouldn't be surprised if gargoyles and pentagrams will be discreetly embedded in the 'reconstruction'.
Great article, a lot of truth in there. It really is quite funny that they put a facade on top of scotus, which is a facade of what it used to be and is supposed to be. Too bad the irony is wasted on all but a tiny handful. Another way I've noticed the point of your post- namely that the bottom line goal of the govt is maintaining the empire at all costs is the bipartisan CBO. It exists to continue to mask the true extent of the problem from the peons. It truly is bipartisan, in that both parties refuse to acknowledge the true extent of our inescapable problem of unfunded liabilities. You hear all these republicans bemoaning the national debt, to which they blame Obama for the last 8 trillion or so, but never mention the 220 t that is our true debt. One side calling out the other on this fucktastrophe is impossible since they are both equally responsible, so they just keep bickering around the edges, since they all agree in the big issues, all of which involve continuing to screw us over in various ways
"They" don't recognize the so called unfunded liabilities as....well, liabilities because unlike defense contracts spread out over several years that are obligations of the government, social security, medicaid, medicare and so on are not considered 'contractual' obligations that serve the needs of The Empire. They are 'entitlements', also known as long lead time lies to keep the peons slaving away, and as such they can be swept away by decree.
I expect most of them will be.
Oh I'm well aware of that. I understand the difference. My point was I the way the go on and on about getting us on a stable financial footing when that is structurally impossible. It's just humorous how they talk about SS, but when pressed will admit that the wording means it isn't really a liability. It would be like them saying don't worry about those unfunded liabilities, we aren't actually going to pay those. As you said, most of them will be swept away by decree, since they must be, and I think many people, at least on some level know this. But both sides of our ponzi party in congress know this, but they WILL ultimately cover for each other on such matters.
my favorite entitlement misnomer is the Social Security Trust Fund. I love the way its managed
LOL
Trust us, it's in there.
About 6 or 7 years ago on the SS web site there was a page that described the Ponzi scheme whereas Congress "borrows" money from the Trust Fund and gives the fund I.O.U's in the form of non negotiable Treasury securities. On the SS web page there was a picture of a fireproof filing cabinet and the caption assured us that the entire trust fund was in that filing cabinet, all safe and sound like.
I still laugh even today when I think about that farcical facade of a filing cabinet holding the entire Trust Fund for the American people. "See....it's in there. Right there. You can even look if you like." :)
I should have saved that web page because soon after I saw it the page and filing cabinet disappeared.
edit. Mrs. Cog just reminded me that the filing cabinet was/is located in West Virginia. Too funny.
i downloaded the photo of bush holding one of the binders. it's a good thing to pass around.
