Congrats on the stats, that pic of the flood light on the river and the natives on the standup boats brought back a few "bad" memories from 1969 on the river between Loas and VN. The locals had placed a mine of some type in the river, a boat full of river rats hit the damn thing and flipped their gun boat end over. I just happened to up river with a group of H'umong trainees, we slipped down on them and unleashed hell fire on them while they padded around looking for survivors.
It took a 1/2 bottle of crown and a few roll your owns to get too sleep last night. Ahhhhhh, such fond memories!
if i may for one moment be perfectly serious: that top image is so special that it's spooky. that, my friend, is (in my judgement) a real keeper. that's the kind of image that first tickles the funny-bone and then goes straight to the gut; and it stays there for a while. i still feel it stirring in me.
i'm gonna go hang out with my boys for a while...but i would be remiss if i didn't do something in homage of this post (and i can't stand being remiss). congrats on this one, my brother. that is truly special. piercing, sparse, witty and poignant. in other words, Art.
hell, WilldBill, i not only noticed the eagle's expression, the damned thing winked at me!
sorry i didn't use last night's inspiration on the thread; instead, i deployed it to the service of some really special work of my own. i had one of my inspired nights of writing...and it came when i needed it most.
so, instead of a post from janus, i'm gonna make a thread of a single song perfectly suited to what you've here done.
for the time being, here's a song bout last night's inspiration:
wb7 -- (In NYC) that operation would get that poor vendor 180 days in the di Blasio dungeon. (I note that at first glance, the vendor's operation looks chaotic, but a closer look reveals a sense of neatness and order.) ("off to Rikers Island for disorderly and illegal commerce, and violation of hundreds of city codes and tax evasion -- and we'll do asset forfeiture on your cash and merchandise.")
I've been talking to Europeans and Canadians who are in business in Thailand. They all said how much more free they are in Thailand. We were talking last night with a guy from Toronto. He runs a business in Chiang Mai. As he pointed to the traffic and street food vendors he said that in Chiang Mai he is free.
People forget that street level commerce is the basic building block of a free market economy, and I do not mean the globalist notion of that latter concept. It is like plankton, if you stifle it you disrupt the whole food chain. And we have obliterated it with over regulation, overhead, predatory box store retail and serial loss producing AmaBorgs.
Already happening in my area. Brick and Morter joints are raising a stink over Food Trucks. City Hall is being petitioned, and guns will be pointed, so that I might be protected from e.coli in my Bok Choi

Amen. How in the cornbread hell do you keep raising the bar?
Thanx, William.
Ding hao !
Looks Great WB.
I don't know about calling China a creditor... seems a bit of a stretch. Rothschildes et al, they are the dragon.
Even if they are a net debtor, they are a creditor as far as we are concerned and this is a very disquieting thought.
William has a weapon called a camera.:-)
haha. thanks Bill for giving us a taste of such a beautiful city, even with all of its warts.
we have Hello Kitty real cheap
Think of the bevy of regulations this guy would have to surmount in order to set this operation up in NYC.
wb7 -- (In NYC) that operation would get that poor vendor 180 days in the di Blasio dungeon. (I note that at first glance, the vendor's operation looks chaotic, but a closer look reveals a sense of neatness and order.) That's what I think in my little corner of the world...just east of Venezuela. Freeist country in the western hemisphere.

Good night America...
we've evolved that notion into the food truck, a truly moveable feast.
The food truck is one positive development. But I suspect that meme will eventually get hammered by the fast food mafioso.
Already happening in my area. Brick and Morter joints are raising a stink over Food Trucks. City Hall is being petitioned, and guns will be pointed, so that I might be protected from e.coli in my Bok Choi
And that, my astute Artist friend, is the HEART of the entire "Mess of the West"... Happy New Year!
I love the pics. Happy New Year Sir!
Happy New Year to all Chinese! The Year of the Wooden Horse. All the Best.
Xinnyen Huanying!
