Good God are they having a go in Ukraine. I just received some extremely disturbing pictures of the events going on there. I will not pass those on because it is not cool and not at all funny. Even the Russian side does not understand. What I just saw was beyond brutal. I am pretty much sick to my stomach right now. I will probably never be able erase those images from my mind.

Off topic here, What can you say about Team USA hockey? Herb Brooks is rolling in his grave. There is not much more to say save the following. Talk about a disaster. All we have here is ice and snow. I am from Minnesota and Wisconsin. Hockey is a big deal here. I think I am quite aware of the economic situation. I don't even know what more I could say. Do you want me to say more? I figured I had said enough already. I was chatting a bit with the Russians though about hockey. The Russians think it is a big deal to play the US. No, it's not. The big deal is to play Canada. We lost, let it go. Do you know how hard it is to tell Russans they have a central bank? That's right, just as hard to as it is to tell Murica. No one listens. That's your problem and not hockey.
Hockey (and other sports) are games that pre-adolecent people (mostly boys) play, before they discover sex. The skills learned require physical acumen (and the discovery of the lack thereof).
I find it hard to believe that you are from BOTH Minnesota AND Wisconsin (unless your mother gave birth on the State line).
As the nation in general has tended to embrace the 'eternal youth' mantra, man-children from all over like to watch 'sport' (instead of being able to play it, as most of them wished they could when they were younger). The populace revels in their vain attempts to 're-live' their youths, and has also been pre-programmed in the fine art of 'spectatorship', in which they are trained to root for the most violent and aggresive of participants. Boxing, football, hockey, (oh, yeah! THE Most violent of games so far!), are all distractions for most (and, I see that you seem to be overly concerned that the whatever nation's 'team' won or lost versus the whatever nation's 'team' of post-adolescent steroid-drugged mindless minions whose sole purpose in life is to be paid to provide distraction for the couch-potatoes; the great unthinking masses who tirelessly compile statistics regarding individual players' performances and compare them to each other in the hopes of being somehow 'superlative' when they try to win the Monday Morning water-cooler debates).
NO, I DO NOT think that you are aware of ANY real situation existing, by your frivolous and distracting post regarding the 'hockey' teams. These people PRODUCE NOTHING at the expense of EVERYONE, and are silly little boys (with issues regarding their so-called 'manhoods').

Really? I hope the kid plays for Sweden. Well, it is all over now. We got nothing. A 5-0 loss to Finland? This is why I hate the NHL and won't watch their games. How about some heart? If you don't want to play then don't go play at all then. We have plenty of amateur players here who could have done much better. It's all they ever wanted to do given the chance. The Olympics are a joke and the the medal payouts make it so. Disgusting.

I guess I deserve to be junked for my post AK. I was worrying about sports. I guess I could bitch about the goverment or markets some more, and I will, but our brains are frozen here now. Hockey is a big deal to us up here in the frozen north. Perhaps a lot of folks do not understand. Mrs. M even took the kids to the Herb Brooks Hockey Center and skated. It is just part of our culture here. It will not go away. And I sure as hell am not from New York.:-)
Humans, by nature, are very competitive beasts and playoff hockey is about as competitive as it gets. I remember watching the Stanley Cup last year and was almost begging for a commercial...my eyes were drying out because I was afraid to blink.
Following markets and govt. these days gets very dreary after a while. There isn't much competition in those arenas; it's mostly corruption and fraud.
That is a true story Chunga. It has been a long winter and is starting to wear on all of us. It is not just me up here acting strange. I guess that is why hockey was invented in the first place. Fucking Canadian quarters anyway. Congratulations to them though. Canada was not even supposed to medal in this Olympics. They took it all. That was pretty awesome.
I am glad the Olympics are over. It's not like it used to be. Nations are paying out heavy coin now and some more than others. They have totally ruined the games. You play in the games because you want to win and have heart. You play because it is Fight Club. You don't play for a fucking paycheck.
