I surmise that you are aware that there are such places in Bangkok, only they are staffed with young aertists who paint a fine replica of any painting you ask for in any size you want. Unfortunately, the service is not cheap.
whatever happened to those factories which made oil painting originals in the Phillipines? as i understand it the painting went down an assembly line of sorts, each artist had one special thing they had to do. the finished product was shipped to the US where they sold them at open air markets, or through Aaron brothers. no american amateur artist could compete with their prices, and the quality was such that their product was suitable for home decorating (something that would blend into the walls) . of course if you don't care if your living room looks like the waiting room in a dentists office, thats your business. i guess prints became more popular, and more original. and just about anyone would rather have a banzai print than a factory oil painting. the real issue is how you frame the work.
There are few things that cannot be had in Bangkok, for a price.
