This song refers to a stupid TV game a British comedy game show first broadcast in 1966.
Non-Brits rarely know this.
And rarely does a composer realise how well his music will someday suit an unforseen theme.
However, given what we know about Peter Gabriel and the content of the music video, he clearly had something in mind beyond the game show.
I seen the explanation that the song was about the Olympics as a way for countries to wage war with against each other without weapons.
But I didn't know it was actually about a British TV show till now. This is why I like this place you learn all sorts of new and sometimes obscure things. Also knowing this the line it's a knockout in the song gives it away. Same basic theme and thought applies though Olympics or game show if you read up on how the show came around in the first place.
