Didn't  ol' Peanut haid Carter say yesterday that he doesn't use EMAIL because he figures it's being monitored? He uses good old pencil and paper and snail mail.

want message security, try the US mail. are they going to open all the letters the USPS handles in a day? i wouldnt be surprised if terrorists were writing instructions on post cards right now.

the real question about email encryption is whats it cost and how much will it slow down the system so that users have to buy new computers. whats good for G(M)oogle is good for the country. unless of course your keyring is too heavy.

US mail is a terrible idea for secure communication.  You can be easily tracked.  After the poison laced letters went to Congress in 2001, systems were added to make the mail more easily trackable.

I don't know if this is going to work... If I remember corectly the East German STASI (their secret police) managed to routinely  "control" - that is open and read or inspect ALL MAIL AND PACKAGES sent to DDR from abroad and all out going mail.

I think they just finished building mail centers for the job in '88 ....

soon there will be 400 million americans, and there is no package scrutiny. if i want to send you sensitive material from overseas i put it a drop shipped package from china. nobody looks at that. my best guess is USPS will reinvent itself as global package security. in the space from 1950 to 2050 the world population will double, unless everyone is reading everyone elses mail, that's a monumental challenge to government data gathering.
