Now where have I heard something like this before?

"He said that on May Day, the minimum wage would go up from 3,270 bolivars ($520; £310) to 4,252 bolivars.

Critics say that while the new minimum salary amounts to $675 at the government-set exchange rate, it adds up to little over $67 at the black market rate.

They say strict currency controls have only increased the shortage of dollars available in the country and driven up their price further.

Opposition leader Henrique Capriles said the 30% raise was "insufficient" and that a real improvement would only be achieved if wages were lifted above the level of inflation. (edit...lol)

The increase comes just months after the government raised the minimum wage by 10%.

The president also did not rule out another raise in the last trimester of the year, at which point he promised to "re-assess" wages."

How about re-assessing a lack of toilet paper & pasta? Well, how about this? If you just go ahead and nationalize these last two industries you'll have complete socialist fucking utopia.

Yes? ;-)

“Most people living in the United States know little about the International Workers' Day of May Day. For many others there is an assumption that it is a holiday celebrated in state communist countries like Cuba or the former Soviet Union. Most Americans don't realize that May Day has its origins here in this country and is as 'American' as baseball and apple pie, and stemmed from the pre-Christian holiday of Beltane, a celebration of rebirth and fertility.”

no more banksters is correct...and janus is just old enough (and from deep enough within the deep south) to remember the olde may pole.  we would band the thing with ribbons and sing songs (we shall overcome was not among them).  btw, NMB, there's lots and lots more oh-so subtle meaning twined about that pole.

this was one of the songs we'd sing (no shit, in hermitage, tn we'd sing this classic south afrikaner ditty in, like, 1st, 2nd & 3rd grade)

For me it's Beltane, a Solar holiday.  Let the dross burn away.  Per wiki:

Beltane is mentioned in some of the earliest Irish literature and it is associated with important events in Irish mythology. It marked the beginning of summer and was when cattle were driven out to the summer pastures. Rituals were performed to protect the cattle, crops and people, and to encourage growth. Special bonfires were kindled, and their flames, smoke and ashes were deemed to have protective powers. The people and their cattle would walk around the bonfire, or between two bonfires, and sometimes leap over flames or embers. All household fires would be doused and then re-lit from the Beltane bonfire. Doors, windows, byres and the cattle themselves would be decorated with yellow May flowers, perhaps because they evoked fire. In parts of Ireland, people would make a May Bush; a thorn bush decorated with flowers, ribbons and bright shells. Holy wells were also visited, while Beltane dew was thought to bring beauty and maintain youthfulness. Many of these customs were part of May Day or Midsummer festivals in other parts of Great Britain and Europe.

Nice to see that Trotsky´s picture is back. He´s rarely seen these days but his influence is growing. I am amazed at the number of Trotskyites that roam the formerly free republic of the U.S.

On every TV show , and a lot of other mainstream media there´s one of them. They may not declare themselves as Trotskyites , indeed many of them would be surprised to be categorized as such. But a lot of what the progressives and the liberals are selling is ...Trotskyite. "If you have a business...you didn´t build that...someone else made it happen" "Kids don´t belong to the families , the belong to the whole community , so that we can start making better investments". And on and on.

What I am hearing every other day is...insane. How did all these Trotskyites arrive att the American shores and why do ordinary folks just...accept this. Perhaps they have forgotten about what happened such a long time ago (two or three decades) , never heard about Trotsky. I don´t know. The claptrap nowadays emanating out of the U.S. is actually worse than anything that can be heard in Europe. Our socialists over here just wanna steal other peoples money but besides that I don´t think they really believe in themselves and their ideas. In the U.S. it seems to be more ideology. Amazing.

Our public K-12 schools are doing a bangup job of indoctrination, plus what doesn't get done there is finished in both public and private universities. Trotskyites took over education long ago. Look at the Common Core curriculum, holy crap reduces all actual standards and introduces straight propaganda as the main literature component. Dumbed down and unable to think.
