Polls: Americans Are Sick of the War On Terror, War On Drugs ... And All of the Other Failed U.S. Wars
Americans Turn Anti-War
The American people are now overwhelmingly opposed to more war in Ukraine, Syria, Iran and elsewhere.
A new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll shows:
Americans in large numbers want the U.S. to reduce its role in world affairs even as a showdown with Russia over Ukraine preoccupies Washington ....
In a marked change from past decades, nearly half of those surveyed want the U.S. to be less active on the global stage, with fewer than one-fifth calling for more active engagement—an anti-interventionist current that sweeps across party lines.
A Pew poll from December found a majority of Americans - more than ever before in Pew’s 50-year history of polling this question – think the U.S. “should mind its own business internationally and let other countries get along as best they can on their own.”
A Pew/USA Today poll conducted over the weekend found that Americans oppose - by a 2-1 margin - any U.S. military aid to Ukraine.
A YouGov poll conducted last month found that only 14 percent of Americans said the U.S. has “any responsibility” to get involved in Ukraine, and only 18 percent think the U.S. “has any responsibility to protect Ukraine if Russia were to invade.”
Huffington Post reports:
Americans are more likely than not to say that the United States has no responsibility to get involved in Ukraine even under extreme circumstances, the new survey shows ....
Pluralities of Democrats, Republicans and independents agreed that the U.S. does not have a responsibility to protect Ukraine.
Support for a war against Syria is 500 percent less than for the Iraq war (Americans would rather have a root canal or a colonoscopy than bomb Syria).
A USA Today/Pew Poll from January shows that Americans now believe by a 50%-38% margin that war against Iraq was stupid.
Support even for the Afghanistan war has collapsed. For example, only 35% of all Americans support the Afghanistan war, according to a 2011 CNN poll.
Most Americans are now strongly opposed to intervention in any Arab country.
The warmongers, however, are desperate to drum up business.
War On Drugs
A new Pew poll also shows that the American people are sick of the war on drugs, noting that a broad majority of Americans are ready to significantly reduce the role of the criminal justice system in dealing with people who use drugs. Pew found:
- 63% of Americans think that we should stop mandatory prison terms for drug law violations
- 54% are in favor of marijuana legalization
- 67% say the government should focus more on providing treatment for people who use drugs like cocaine and heroin, and only 26% think the focus should be more on prosecuting people who use such drugs
Of course, the war on drugs is a total boondoggle. And stopping government support for drug dealers and producers might be a good place to start (even though it is making American banks rich).
Other Failed Wars
Obama has also declared a war on inequality. But given that income inequality has increased more under Obama than under Bush, and that bad policy enacted on a bipartisan basis is making inequality worse and worse, we may be in real trouble.
Of course, neither mainstream political party represents the interests of the people ... as revealed by polls.

i ignored the error knowing he meant to say 1/5 but math check is much more important than spell check, so, kudos.
I'm fed up with the continued existence of government in general
President Johnson started the war on poverty. Poverty is winning.
Johnson entrenched the mafia in Washington. Absolutely anything and everything that waste of Texas air touched or thought about was war on the United States. Every last fucking thing. Close your eyes and here come the Bush buttfucks to keep Johnson alive.
Johnson is responsible for running politics off the tracks, and assuring that anyone not in da club gets the club.
Shame on Texas and their "politicians"
"Johnson is responsible for running politics off the tracks, and assuring that anyone not in da club gets the club."
Yeah, like Nero never existed...
Pee Wee
Every state, not just Texas. (I've lived in TX; didn't care for it, but have lived and visited in many other states, all as bad in their different ways.)
pee wee, texas is a slave state, the tax units have no power in any state, we are asleep while the masters raise the curtain each day on what to force feed the public on how the public thinks and why the majority will is always the outcome, well except for open borders and free trade, but you got to let a few items like that out to continue the meme that we are not living in a facist/communist state run world.
I've got it!!! If we start a war on wealth, pretty soon everybody will be rich. Oh, sorry, there already IS a war on wealth...against the middle class...
Poverty is only the symptom. Government is the disease. The only problem with the Constitution is that in their effort to limit the size and reach of govt, they forgot to give exact numbers, like IF govt (size) = 5000 THEN GOTO end. Its just BASIC reasoning.
No. Govt is a symptom as well. The REAL disease is perpetual growth on a finite planet: dtich govts and run with this and you'll still smack the wall.
yea? so what. since when does .gov care what the people think anymore. there was a naive time when .gov actually made a concerted effort to sway the people to accept all sorts of stupidity but now .gov has decided the people are superfluous to the process. they don't even bother vetting the facts or the logic of their lies. they don't have to care about the people. what are the peopel going to do? absolutely nothing! usa .gov depends upon this with the confidence that brings you the theft of trillions of dollars, the deaths of millions of people and the indictment of millions more as terrorists and traitors for thinking and asking questions. you have been locked into your bill of rights zone behind the dumpster out back and you don't give a shit. it is almost as if you like being smeared with feces. molon labe! bs! it is all gone, already.
"The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way, and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theatre." - Frank Zappa
Exactly. We have reached the final stage, i.e. brute government force. They feel absolutely safe. No need for them at all even to cover up their dilettantic operations or justify the destabilization of entire societies on fabricated evidences. Even, to whom were those devilish intentions to be explained? To a bunch of obese foodstamp recipients euphemistically called the "American public"?
Btw. Does anybody know what happend to the dog of our cardbox president?
Apparently, it piddled in front of a visiting dignitary from the ME. It fought gallantly, but eventually succumbed to a jackboot on it's throat. Another loving example of what we should expect from our enlightened and benevolent State.
An ode to politicians: http://www.lhasa-apso.org/articles/humor/piddle.html
The news is phony. The overseas wars are all staged. The Mafia controlled government runs the cocaine and heroin. The War On Drugs is against their enterprising competition. Everything you hear out of Washington is a f-ing lie.
“We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.”

Don't steal. Govt hates competition.
The rest of the world has been sick of America's wars too for quite some time.
All well and good, but do any of you think the rest of the planet will play nicey-nice when the USA returns to a pre-1912 stance?
I don't, and history supports my position.
They will resume doing what they have been for hundred's of years - killing each other by the deca-millions.
Then, when one of them gets big enough, they will come after the Western Hemisphere.
Not sure why you got all the red on this one. Perhaps people felt like you were ridiculing some sort of "non-interventionalist" policy/position?
No matter, "people will be people" is totally correct. And this applies to the notion that empires expand, or at least expand their resource base: which is what your last point correctly states.
No, but do you think that America plays nicer? Are you of the opinion that America is 'exceptional' and needs to keep the 'violent tribes at the border' under control. Is America therefore Rome?
It is all geopolitics but the countries that are stuck in the middle in the fights between megapowers are really fed up with being there.
That is not my point. Someone needs to sit on the chest of the Europeans and Japanese and keep them from reverting to type. No one else wants to or will do it or even thinks it is something to be done. When the USA leaves the playing field, Japan will be re-armed in about a month, and the Europeans will return to killing each other.
This is based upon observation, not a desire for the USA to do it, or that the USA is better.
Once those conflicts begin it is just a matter of time until the winner comes sniffing around the Americas. One cannot sit this sort of thing out any longer.
Yet should this happen, I will be in South America as that's the last place to be in play. That's where WW2 players went to and for good reason.
We are big enough to take care of our selves if we weren't scattered all over the world in bullshit operations, infiltrated by money junkie globalist factions. People don't want wars, just a few oligarchs do. Fuck em the truth will prevail as these polls are showing. People are sick of the bullshit.
A gender gap has begun to emerge on how people see the government’s anti-terrorism programs with men being more inclined to think the government has gone to far. It also seems that younger voters, those in their twenties are appalled by the intrusions into our privacy.
What may be more important is the shift among Republicans, the percentage who said government has gone overboard in restricting civil liberties in the fight against terrorism grew to 41 percent in a new poll, this compares with 17 percent three years ago. When you join this group with far right Democrats that are antiwar and adverse to the fascist tendencies of government and with Libertarians who want "less government" the number of people opposed to these programs become quite sizable. More on this subject in the article below.

the number of people opposed to these programs become quite sizable.
i agree that there's been a change in sentiment, but it's so far affected sentiment only...there has been absolutely no substantive change. this is because amorican citizens find it very difficult to reconcile their back-pockets to thier beliefs. amoricans like to preen beneath a veneer of rectitude and integrity; and so they occasionally yip and moan...but they 'do' nothing, demand less, and for perfectly practical reasons. just beneath the surface of this shiny veneer is a pulsating and pervading awareness...amorican citizens know their portfolio, home equity, salary, retirement, purchasing power -- all of it...both kit AND kaboodle -- are dependent on a deep and abiding duplicity, a sort of dissociative hypocrisy. of late, it's fashionable to call it "cognitive dissonance".
they know this whole enterprise is profoundly wicked and rotten to its very core; but amoricans diffidently express some token dissatisfaction with it, return again to our vapid distractions, turn up the volume, grab a pint of hagen daz, surf for some porn, and ladle up a double-portion of gravy for the brain.
besides, how can the wholesale evisceration of our every constitutional protection compete with racism, gay-rights and restless leg syndrome? there are so many evils greater than tyranny! will somebody ever think of the children? we have not diverted nearly enough from our best and brightest; let us forever purge the immorality of biology from this merciless world! nothing is fair, and so we will not rest until we overturn the endemic unfairness and forge a new one of our own devising, and according to our own fiat-based (and newly minted) morality.
hysterics is the new dialectic. the clucking hens have taken over the coop; and they're anxious to establish the new pecking order. lt. general james flynn is the latest victim. replaced by a lass with absolutely NO operational experience. WTF?
alas, nearly all of this is the result of our Program for Pussification (PP for short...and no, i would never cagily reference the ole penis envy thing here with the PP acronym -- that would be tacky and untoward). women, especially and particularly western women, have been convinced that men are nothing but boorish, doltish and barbarous boobs; and though they are in many instances correct, this in no way confirms their conviction that all things masculine are in dire need of immediate and radical correction. boys are to be medicated or otherwise sublimated; all are transfixed by a passive and androgynous (though faintly 'feminine') ideation...basically, the amorican citizen is becoming "pat" from SNL in the ninties. fat, priggish, wilting, timid, persnikity, bitchy, petulant and fretful...and from this springs a monomaniacal impulse; and that is to reduce everything to an acceptably low common denominator.
the day of the clucking hen has nearly eclipsed...prepare, bitches, for the dawn and the cock's crow...

You're [somewhat] missing the point about the PP, Janus, old sock.
Under Rampant Statism™, men are no longer NEEDED! Women only need a one-night-stand sperm-donor, or to conceive via artificial insemination. Soon, women will also become redundant ... as babies are created in a petri dish and incubated in a State Farm Pod™.
All the resources a woman needs to house, feed and clothe a child - SNAP, EBT, etc - are now provided by the State. State-provided child care and schooling then takes care of the child for most of the day (from age 2?, 3?, 4?) until post-college/university (age 20?, 25?, 30?,...). The actual child-rearing now provided by a woman is trending towards negligible...and the man can be totally ignored.
Men are now only required to vote and pilot drones. Soon, women will join us. Nearly everything else will be automated (or gone) ... UNLESS we can ENGINEER the reset to a stateless society that supports free enterprise and individual responsibility for life choices.
i agree with your criticism of my incomplete argument, but with one important caveat. your argument, and the reflexive disposition of modern/western society, consists in the assumption that this androgynous perdition you describe represents some sort of inevitability...as if the arc of 'progress' is naturally bent to affect this outcome. and this assumptive bias represents the massive success of this Pussification Program (PP for 'short')...in that, the feeling of inevitability regarding the end of masculine utility is but a symptom of PP's menopausal disease.
{dude, please don't misinterpret my tone...i'm not angling to contention at all -- i feel i'm often misunderstood}
i say that, if it comes down to it, and they really do want a 'war of the sexes'...if they do indeed prefer that we cease being gentlemen and just fuck them till they're not worth fucking anymore...if they seek to define and value us according to our empirical 'worth'...once again, if it's a 'war' of the sexes they want, they have picked the wrong gender -- war is sorta our thing, bitches (we are very, very, very, VERY good at it -- most especially out in the open). ultimately, and in such circumstances, bitches will do exactly what we tell them to. if, that is, they prefer we desist as gentlemen.

I do indeed consider the scenario I outlined to be "an inevitability" ... UNLESS heed is taken of that proviso I provided at the end. Only a stateless society will ensure the continuation of self-directed and self-sustaining family units.
The State has no interest in any authority figure or collective unit, whether patriarchal or otherwise, other than the one all-pervading State. Once the State replaced local monarchs, it became inevitable that it - like any other parasite - would simply continue to expand to the limits of the Earth. Novelists, think tanks and bloggers have been respectively forescasting, planning and warning of this for nearly a century.
The pussification of men is a quite separate process from the State's march towards designer production of trans-human robots. Quite simply, the State neither needs nor wants most of us ... and our opinion doesn't count. Resistors like thee and me will be footnotes in a Minority Report.
On the other hand, even the Roman Empire saw pussification of men towards its end ... but they didn't then have the technology for the oligarchs to rule the planet.
The ladies have very little say in this. They have a small window of opportunity to use the resources of the State to be masters in their own [man-less] household ... but only until, as I said, the State will determine how and when, if at all, they may procreate. China's 'One Child Policy' was just the beginning (and that began more than 30 years ago).
I think that you're mostly correct in your assessment here.
Much, however, can be explained as a "natural" process reacting to overrunning a specie's environment. We are, most of us here can recognize, nearing the end of our most growth-oriented resource- energy. Pro-creation requirements, whether set about by TPTB or not, would be inevitible for all other life forms; I do not believe that humans are exempt.
One can bet, however, that whatever advantage a "policy" might have for TPTB TPTB WILL seek it out. "Seeking out," however doesn't necessarily equate to meaning "it will occcur;" Mother Nature has a rather strong hand in all of our affairs...
i wish i could hammer away at the green flag or at least respond in kind...but i've got to make like your snoopy and slide-off to sleep the sleep of innocents and saints.

Since when did it matter what "Americans" think, compared to what the government of the USA actually does?
Statistical studies demonstrating that "democracy" is dead:

It’s Official:
America is an Oligarchy and NOT a Democracy or a Republic
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-04-17/princeton-study-confirms-us-oligarchy
Princeton Study Confirms 'US Is An Oligarchy'
The American democratic republic "flatlined" a long time ago. The opinions of the majority of Americans have not mattered to the policies the government actually ended up promoting. The governmental policies increasingly have lined up with the oligarchs, that have been paying for the political processes.
No matter how bad that gets, it still just gets still worse, because the role of money through the political processes has become a vicious spiral. The profit from legalized frauds gets reinvested in more legalized frauds, and the more that the laws become nothing more than legalized lies, the more money the government spends to increase the budget of the legalized violence which backs those legalized lies up.
It does not matter if a few people finally understand that process better. It is already too late to be able to fix how crazy and corrupt the government has become. We are deep into the double-bind Catch 22 PARADOX, that they CAN do anything we can not stop them from doing. They surely do believe that they have the right to do anything that we can not stop them from doing!
The government of the USA is now about 99% based on legalized lies, backed by legalized violence, due the basic system being debt slavery, backed by wars based on deceits. More and more people are being forced to face those social facts. However, the established systems are too deeply entrenched! There are no practical political ways to compete with the oligarchs who have already been able to rig elections before they are ever called. These days, with privatized, proprietary, voting machines counting most people's votes, it is a cruel joke to think that even IF there was enough of series of political miracles of people awakening that the residual farce of there being a "democratic republic" would be able to reassert itself.
Of course, this is nevertheless an extremely interesting issue to speculate about. Although I am Canadian, I follow American politics even more than I do Canadian, because whatever happens in America is what is going to control what later happens in Canada, although maybe decades later, and slower, and perhaps in a milder way. Furthermore, although that applies to Canada more than any other country, but it still also applies all around the whole world, within Pax Americana, and the US Dollar as the global reserve currency.
It usually tends to be a political pattern that the more important any issue is, the more practically impossible it becomes to change. America is the current heart of the beast of the globalized systems of debt slavery, backed by wars based on deceits. Therefore, it is IMPORTANT whether enough Americans will wake up enough to understand that all those "failed" wars that they are tired of were various kinds of false flag attacks, promoted by the ruling classes, in order advance their agenda which had runaway debt slavery as its center piece.
Enough Americans could only turn "anti-war" enough IF they understood some of the deeper levels as to how and why their own ruling classes were promoting wars based on deceits. Furthermore, I would insist that that deeper understanding should go into facing the facts about their being chronic political problems, which are inherent in the nature of life, which must be resolved somehow.
The standing paradox at the present time is that the ancient chronic political problems, through the crucible of the conflicts of war, created the social pyramid systems, as military structures, as the most expedient, and in the context, necessary, ways to cope with the chronic political problems. However, that selection process then became a runaway system, where the ruling classes in the social pyramid systems started more and more generating artificial wars, based on deceits, in order to advance their agenda.
America suffers from a severe case of debt slavery, backed by wars based on deceits. However, the vast majority of the controlled opposition groups to that are reactionary revolutionaries, who refuse to look deeper into human history, and its human ecology, in order to better understand how and why warfare developed in the first place.
That view then returns to my original point, that it appears that the American "democratic republic" is already practically dead, because the oligarchs have everything too well sewed up, with the degree of control over the monetary system, and mass media, and schools. etc.. and especially the controlled opposition groups. Therefore, it looks like, to me, that America is going to continue going mad, and become even more self-destructive, and therefore, will be forced to go through some kinds of Second American Revolution and Civil War, which are NOT good things, but rather, things which the madness of the ruling classes will force to happen.
That is the context in which it becomes especially important to think a lot harder and deeper about the history of warfare, and how and why Americans have had their lives so totally dominated by wars based on deceits, covertly promoted by their own ruling classes, in order to advance the debt slavery systems, which have generated numbers which are debt insanities, which are threatening to drive Americans through some series of psychotic breakdowns of their social and political systems.
The war on drugs has been far to costly. In the last decade, due almost solely to the surge in drug-related arrests, U.S. prisons are massively overcrowded and underfunded. The rehabilitation aspect of incarceration is slim to nil.
We can surrender, redefine the enemy, or change our tactics, but it is clear that victory in not in sight. After the U.S. government spent over $15 billion dollars in 2010 on the War on Drugs at a rate of $500 per second victory remains elusive. To that figure we can add at least another 25 billion dollars of spending by state and local governments. More on this subject in the article below.

http://main.fknnewz.com/blog/gfhfghf/
Collection on Deek Jackson's Web site of the FKN NEWZ discussing drug wars. The printed introduction to those video essays summarizes the basic facts.
Banksters control their puppet politicians. The banksters benefit all the way around from every evil thing that they can possibly do. The "War on Drugs" was NOT a "failure" from the banksters' point of view. Only political idiots believe that the "War on Drugs" was a "failure." What actually happens is what was actually intended to happen. Wars based on deceits advance debt slavery. The more that those wars "fail," the better that is for those whose interests are to advance the underlying debt slavery systems.
The banksters took control over the American political processes more and more for a least a Century, after suffering some reversals of fortune earlier in American history. For at least a hundred years, the American rulings classes have been promoting one war based on deceit after another. None of those ever achieved their stated goals, but they all resulted in advancing the interests of the fascist plutocracy, which included building a bigger fascist police state.
My view is that the ruling classes are the apparent enemy, while behind them are the chronic political problems which created the systems in which there could be some ruling class. Furthermore, the ruling classes almost totally dominate the controlled opposition, which deliberately ignore the chronic political problems, which need to be understood in order to understand how and why the ruling classes developed to operate the way that they do.
For sure, the controlled opposition to the drug wars is almost totally dominated by mainstream morons, and reactionary revolutionaries, who almost totally fail in their analysis of what was really going on, because they still accept most of the biggest bullies' bullshit social stories about the drug war in the first place, which is why they fail when they say that the drug wars were a "failure." The vast majority of the people who are against the drug wars are also against understanding war in general. Hence, they do not fully understand the drug wars, because they do not want to understand.
The only better solutions to the drug war problems are better solutions to the general problems of warfare, which means better death control systems.
The vast majority of Americans do not want to understand their own militarism. It is ironic how Americans can be by far the world's leader in the military and monetary areas, while simultaneously being the worst political idiots regarding those topics on the planet. As the cliche says, "nothing fails like success." The American ruling classes have set up the predicament that Americans in general now face, which is the paradox of final failure from too much success, in which their reality was controlled through a maze of an almost infinite tunnel of deceits and frauds, where the lies were different at every level. Welcome to the Bizarro Mirror World, Folks, where those who develop the best weapons become the worst at understanding their purpose. In that context, the controlled opposition perspectives about slavery and racism were just as useless and misleading as the controlled opposition's views regarding the drug wars.
There can never be a War ON Drugs, which is a logical fallacy; a Non sequitur.
But for the past few centuries there has been plenty of War AND Drugs, profiting the ZioNazis around the world.
War AND Poverty
War AND Terror
War ON Freedom
Perhaps the government should declare war on being uncorrupt. Every other war that they declare against a problem, perceived or real, seems to have the opposite effect of the stated intent.
And did you read that decision out of the 10th Circuit? Yeah, apparently, having acne, tinted windows and driving in a stiff upright manner with your hands at the 10 and 2 position while sporting out of state plates constitutes probable cause when it comes to drugs. Fucking Border Patrol. I should take the 3 hour drive down south of me just to fuck with some of the cocksuckers at their suspicionless checkpoint.
Love on War?
.gov = War on Love
That in effect would be suicide for government.
Ha.... as if the corrupt, totally self serving ruling political elite living grand imperial life styles at tax paying U.S. citizen serfs and peasants expense give a flying frack about what the serfs and peasants think about anything.
I have to agree Americans no longer want a few politicians in Washington to decide what is important to the rest of us. Only a few months ago the idea of America getting involved in a war in Ukraine would have been hard to imagine. As I write this we are engaged in a war of words but the potential for this to escalate into a shooting war is real. Allowing events to deteriorate into a major war or possibly into what some see as World War III is becoming a reality.
As insane as it appears this could become the final outcome. The location of this as a military confrontation is right in Putin's backyard and this is a strong advantage for Russia. It is silly to think Putin and Russia will back down. This means poking the bear is not a smart move. It should be noted the military of Ukraine is divided and extremely weak. More about this subject in the article below.

When will the people of the world Realize that the people in power do not care one little bit about you!
None of these people have anything at risk, they will always be rich and never need more money!
They only pretend to care enough, so as you dont start fighting in the streets, and they dont care if a few million people kill each other either, as long as the people don't start hunting them!
and that they are left in power, pretending that they care about us. just wait and see time will tell.
That's why the Cold War with Russia is coming back, how else can they maintain trillion dollar military budgets?
One of my favourite explanations of that process is:

That's one fucking irritating narrator.
Yeah, maybe ... There are NO videos that I have ever watched whose narration I could totally endorse, but nevetheless, there were still episodes that are worthwhile to watch.
Our leaders declare a war and themselves as glorious leaders. Bush failed and Obama failed, while others died or were seriously injured. What hath either wrought in Iraq, or Afghanistan or Syria or Libya or Egypt? Who,expect Obama, has returned to glorious praise? What benefit have the sheeple received for their contributions? Has the war on drugs, ended drug use? Who has returned to the US in glory as our conquering heroes? The damned wars haven't even improved employment at home.
Take your wars and shove it, Obama and McCain.
Wars are necessary in the perpetual-growth-on-a-finite-planet meme we're operating under. Sooner or later resource shortages (either to sustain or to "grow") are deemed unsufficient, "enemies," who just happen to have the resources required, are identified. Forward...
The sheeple aren't as dumb as i thought
