To turn the people against nationalism all one has to do is turn the government against the people. One has to keep in perspective that in today's world the governments are hand-picked actors who are the most repugnant characters available. They do not represent the people and people know this. people may be silent but they are not stupid. The hand-pickeed psychopaths are doing their best to alienate the people and turn them away. No sane person would support politicians who are out to enslave, murder and torture the people who they are supposed to care for. One wonders how the lackies who do their bidding can be so dense.
What reason would we haave to suspect that a world government created by the same people (and I am lumping the nonhumans in with people) would be any better than the regional governments they have in place now, If anything it will be worse once they have no competition.
... but, if history has shown anything, it has shown that empires, regional or global are unsustainable. It makes one wonder: "why bother?".

Oh, I don't know. Should I say it?
Nations, nation-states, states, families, clans, common people with common dreams and aspirations, the bonds that bind people together; and all that discussion, seem to be so 'old-fashioned', in the 'modern technological era'.
In general, 'governments' are formed in order to subjugate the people and control them. Some are kind, and some are fucking harsh. SOME are 'shadow governments', that work 'behind the scenes' so to speak, in order to try to control a greater part of the whole. MOST 'governments' are already commonly accepted to be 'detrimental' to the majority of those that they wish to subjugate, alienate, or otherwise force their wills upon. It is a GIVEN, therefore, that governments IN GENERAL will inevitably 'turn against the people' (as you try to define them). TERMS such as 'NATIONALISM' become meaningless, as the 'GOVERNMENT' institutes the basis of what actually DEFINES the boundries of a so-called 'NATION' to BEGIN WITH!
Turning people against so-called 'nationalism' has NOTHING to do with the 'government turning against the people', therefore. They have ALWAYS BEEN against the people, and will continue to be.

Good link, I suppose, but the issue of taking G. Edward Griffin's famous book out of context might be of some concern to some.
The issues of dominance between the various races over the millenia past is one of great disconternation. The Roman overlords were as bad as the Greeks, and the Chinese Dynastical families were sometimes worse.
