I stopped watching the Eurovision song contest in 1988. I don't know this year winner's song but friends tell me it is pretty bad. Without the beard he/she probably would not have won. The thing is, every year they need to come up with something more ludicrous or else the European sheep get bored. This year was brought to you under the banner of 'equal rights yadiyadi ya' but I fail to see how parading a freak show can do any good for transvestites.
Freak show is a good way to describe it.
I went to the big Katoey Revue in Chiang Mai Thailand years ago. It is a big tourist attraction and quite an impressive production. I would describe it as classy as opposed to a freak show. No bearded transvestites named Wurst there. When the "ladies" are outside bidding farewell to the audience, the only way you can figure out what is going on is bone structure and gait.
To each their own fancy. Human sexuality is complicated. If people dig that kind of thing, go for it. As long it is consentual and not under aged. I can appreciate a work of art. But the Eurovision song contest indeed has turned into a freak show and will not aide in furthering the cause of these people. Because it has become a mockery.

It's funny but it's not really funny. No fault of the artist. It's just not funny.
kind of like two football players kissing, or one football player and one boyfriend. you know for years everyone looked the other way when these guys were patting each other on the ass (but our fathers knew something was going on didnt they?) and there's something to parody there (like obama googles on putin) and so maybe its a redo on the KISS, that gawky giant statue that came to san diego, (live obama, whats the latin phrase, i came i saw i took a lot of money home) which portrayed the famous VE day shot of a sailor kissing a nurse in New York. im glad its not funny

I did the first picture earlier last week before I knew what was happening. Apparently the event became politicized. The pair of Russian contestants, both women, were booed and jeered on Thursday. Various politicians in Russia and Eastern Europe threw macho hissy fits over the final result and certain Europeans crowed about how this is an example of European tolerance versus Russian fascism and homophobia.
Meanwhile, unarmed civilians were shot at a polling station.
Oh what a wonderful world...a Eurotopea of friendship and understanding.

As someone whose immediate family has dealt with this issue, the fact of the matter is most every person engaged in this behavior was initiated into the "lifestyle" by someone older and/or in a position of "authority". So why all the angst towards unmarried / "celibate" individuals in the catholic church, especially here in the US?
May I suggest the obvious reason without being castigated as “homophobic”? This conduct remains being considered as a “perversion”, ask any “traditional” parent who has born a child that has been recruited into the practice.
You want your tolerance? You can keep your tolerance.
Personally, I find nothing “beautiful”, “lovely” or “natural” in the conduct. My now dead brother asked me in fact to spread the message. I told him and my mother I would do what I could.
