Jon Stewart Disembowels SecTreas Geithner
Tim Geithner has been using voodoo economics to rationalize choosing the big banks over homeowners. (And his argument that it wasn't politically possible to do anything else is bunk, especially since the American people opposed bank bailouts from day one.)
Jon Stewart does a better job of challenging Geithner than any mainstream "reporter":

Note how he uses "tax payer." As in, "Paid the tax payer back." Of course he is implying that the "tax payer" is us, the American people, but there is NO such thing as a "tax payer" only tax victims. So he is really saying that, "We bailed them out, and not the people, and they, the banksters, paid us back."
And by "paid back," I would have to assume that he means his new cushy position at private equity firm Warburg Pincus.
Note: Yes, Warburg, as in those Warburgs.
Son, I like the way you think.
fuckin whiner.
As one that had a dollar savings account, I haven't, as yet, been paid back for all the NEGATIVE interest that I "received".
Re: Warburgs and Geitner
Just Faux Jooze paying back their fellow Faux Jooze for fleecing the ever-suffering Gentiles.
(Waiting with bated breath for the negative votes from the ADLers)

http://usawatchdog.com/united-states-... - Can we pull the world out of this economic calamity? Former World Bank Attorney Karen Hudes says, "It may be that we don't, in which case, we end up in what happened just before we went into the dark ages, when gold went into hiding . . . . We can bring this gold that belongs to humanity out of its cloak of secrecy and out of hiding or we can go back into the dark ages. And we can have pestilence and starvation. . . . Civilization breaks down. We cannot pay for our international trade. Either we take back our gold, our legality, and we tell this group that thinks it's above the law that it is not above the law, or we can kiss ourselves goodbye. Humanity will not continue, we will have World War III. Join Greg Hunter as he goes One-on-One with former World Bank Attorney Karen Hudes.

"Dear Mr. Fujian Xiamen Guo, You are the one talking about aliens, I assure you that I am talking about a separate species of hominids that has left their remains on Earth up to the present time. The facts deserve better treatment than you seem capable of mustering:

I know this because someone at the Vatican actually found the heads and bones of [Homo Capensis'] dead buried in the basement at the Vatican.and the Vatican was built in 540 AD so the bones couldn’t have gotten in the basement until after that. Many heads were found so they have been burying their dead there for the last 1500 years and I believe they live.for about 800 to 1000 years." Hudes thinks there is 170 tons of gold stashed in Hawaii. What a quack. She must be a banker stooge.
She actually said 170K tons.
Can't take her credibly whatsoever anymore.
May as well just stop on Ancient Aliens and stop with the conclusion it was time-traveling ancient-astronaut bankers.
I would have liked to see David Stockman rip this lying jerk a new and bloody asshole that you could drive a motorhome through.
Stewart is trying but he's well out of his depth.
Uhm. He has a comedy show. We should not be looking to comedians to call out banksters. The fact that he is doing a far far better job than the resy of the MSM is in itself the story.
Stockman would have been better, substantively but not with the effectiveness of Stewart. Stewart was great.
No, I disagree. I think Stewart exposed him as a liar and made Geithner look uncomfortabe in constructing his stories.
But there was a bit of good old boy, wink, wink, let's have some fun in front of the sheeple taking place.
I think Stewart did a pretty decent job and generally had the right line of questioning... but really didn't go for the kill.
Listen, Geithner knew the banks were getting the much better part of this deal, and that the arguments for financial armageddon if the didn't bail the banks from their own mistakes still rings very hollow with a whole lot of people. And this wasn't just a simple problem of honest people beleiveing that housing prices would up forever. The role of derivatives had a major impact on the severity of this crisis-- and the numbers are there to prove it, despite Geither's assertions.
For a president that has on numerous occasions used his powers to execute executive orders (some of which border on the unconsitiutional), Geither's argument that the administration had their hands tied in providing direct assistance to homeowners and others directly affected by the crisis almost borders on the laughable. When faced with issues regarding 'national security', our govenment in the recent past has not hesitated bypassing Congressional authority-- even when that meant giving themselves the power to spy on its own people.
Yet a full blown financial crisis that could have devestated this economy... didn't quite make the hurdle for utilizing the presidents ability to exert emergency execeutive powers, and make executive orders???
The reality is that Obama, Geither, and others in the political sphere of influence were captured by the bankers and ex-bankers in government providing all the timely advice.
Yeah. And no way am I going to read that book.
I might read it. But there is no fuckin' way I'm buying it. I will not give that asshole a penny of mine unless I could heat it red hot and shove it up his ass.
I'm considered a 'responsible homeowner'...my 75k home in 1998 came with a 7.5% mortgage...I've paid more than the minimum since then and my 30 year amortization shows I'm paid into 2020. My balance is too low to refinance (unless I want to add to my debt by another $50k).
7.5% when others are getting 3 or less...and no way to change it.
And, no, I have no second mortgage, I didn't use my home as an ATM, I have no HELOC...I was a 'responsible homeowner'.
The scrimping my wife and I (and our kids before they moved out) endured was extremely tough. I'm not one to spend money on shit (yep, I'm an asshole!). But we havn't received a penny from our goobermint while those that went apeshit in the boom have. There is something fundamentally wrong in this picture.
My wife and I, and my kids, endured a lot of 'Toy Envy' in the 2K's with no clue that people were spending their house on shit. My debt adversion made it impossible to even visualize using my home as an ATM. And I'm surprised at how many of my friends wound up homeless or had rental properties foreclosed on. In fact, I think I only had one friend who was unaffected.
I would HAPPILY serve as the executioner for Paulson, Geithner, Bush, most of those in Congress over the last 4 years, and Obama over this. I beleive a garrote would be appropriate.
But all my bitching aside...the ones that created this situation are pretty much still sitting where they are: in our Congress...still trying to cover up this fact through their owners media and the media is still doing their best to keep it silent.
Propaganda media does this crap all the time. They acknowledge what they know the public is already thinking, then have some guy "put their feet to the fire," and then move on comfortable that the sheeple are like, "Yeah, now I feel better."
It is a game of bullshit.
Post Enron is where I first noticed how they do this. They also did it in high-form post the 2007/08 financial crisis in the 2010 film called, "Inside Job." They even had the balls to have Barney Frank in it commenting on the crisis he was paid-off to help create.
Nope, nothing is what it seems, unless all you see is their bullshit.
"My guillotine wasn't fooled."
"My guillotine wasn't fooled."
LMFAO. That's a great signature. Sorry bro, but I need to borrow that one.
I Watched inside job. you couldn't be more correct.
ugh.
john stewart knows what is coming up , 2014 and 2016 ---bringing on timmy and giving him a hard time in an uncharacteristically 'non-humorous' manner is calculatued.
since when has john stuart been a champion for the truth? he's a shrewd man. his timing is immaculate. sometimes i wonder if he's got better informatoin than the rest of us.
but hey that's comdey too, timing is everything in comedy politics finance
Trouble spelling?
I'm sure his brother running the NYSE has nothing to do with the back-end agreement to follow a scripted 'roast' for the sheeple.
Very true... Stewart usually is rather cuddly with these political and/or media stars... maybe this is part of the usual puppet show that Congress puts on occassionally to make the audience think they are working hard.
"Very true... Stewart usually is rather cuddly with these political and/or media stars..."
You catch more flies with honey
Jon Stewart has been doing a better job than most in popular media interviewing a wide spectrum of players since the 2007/2008 blow-up. Stewart is not cuddly, he remains respectful and dials the vitriol button way way down in order to keep these people talking because the more they talk the more you see them for who and what they really are.
if he is intelligent, which i think he is, the more research he does into the topic, the more he realizes "hey Democrats really are as bad as Republicans". c'mon in Stewart the water is warm.
It's a big club and John is probably in it. The people are looking for fresh meat and Geitner is the latest sacrifice.
Geitner must be the best provided for sacrificial lamb in history. Except for maybe Benny Shalom Bernanke.
Yeah, sacrifice is probably too strong a word as no prosecution will ever occur. More like it gives a whole lot of angry and frustrated people a chance to vent.
There's a lamp post out there, somewhere, with Tim's name it. Old testament justice.
Correct. it's all calibrated by professional psychologists who are on staff for the Media Moguls; "See, little people, we can represent your point of view, too". Championship line in this vein; Bill clinton, (I feel your pain). Uh-huh.
You would be hard pressed to find a better example of an amoral lying crap weasel than Timmah. His blatant attempt to rewrite history to conceal his crimes, screams for his execution.
true, there will be a lotta folks screaming at the execution
Timmy is a cock sucking piece of shit lying doucher and should be slowly killed starting with cutting off his nut sack. There, fixed it for ya! :)
Not true it's easy to find provable examples of amoral lying crap weasels; Obama, Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Nancy Pelosi; well, it's kind of a long list. they're called your "leaders". (Fuhers). Welcome to the Fourth Reich, and remember what Goebbels said in the Third Reich; the media is the organ of the state; and it shall play many tunes, and the people will listen.
He should have asked him about being laughed out of China.
He should have asked him about his current employment.
Boom. 3 ZHers disapprove how "awesome" this interview was in less than 3 simple comments. Like I been saying... Steward knows how to pull his punches.
Or if he used TurboTax to prepare his 1040 this year.
Should have asked him about his role as head of the NY fed.
...
Jon Stewart should be careful not to bite the had that is up his A55.
Timmy can never look John in the eye. Typical of a lying sack of shit.
Precisely
Let us not forget that Timmy was head of FRBNY for the fraud build. Stewart never mentions that.
Stewart will never tell people his older brother was the COO of the NYSE either.
Like tell all sheeple: "They could have bailed out the mortgagees, the people, which would have ALSO bailed out the banksters, or they could have chosen to bailout JUST the banksters. They chose to bailout JUST the banksters."
Nothing more need be said except, "6-minutes guillotines! Guillotines, you're on in 6 minutes."
Note: I am only highlighting their choice and corruption. Any bailout and money "printing" would have not been a good thing in the long-run.
If they had bailed out the banksters and the the mortgagees, the banksters wouldn't have profited nearly as much. It's much more important to the Bush-Obama administration for the banksters to get as much as possible, since it's the banksters that gave Bush, Obama, and their pals those BIG commissions.
How much would the mortgagees have given Bush, Obama, and friends?
They could have simply followed the rule of law and call the entire mortgage industry and the robo signing scandal a "fraudulent conveyance."
I mean BofA actually bought Countrywide? I can't touch BofA now because of that.
"No problem we'll nuke the dollar and leave every State and municipal Government high and dry."
Can't say they're not lacking in ambition.
And indeed "phuck that preferential tax treatment too" was on the docket as I recall.
Still no comment on that I see. Just "print mother phucker print."
I would recommend "new construction only" for the Novus Ordo Seclorum however. That's the only thing the paymaster cuts the check for from what I've been told.
"All that is has already been devalued" I'm afraid.
"fraudulent conveyance."
Another great reason to Stop paying.
The Four Rs
Rejection: Stop paying, Stop obeying, Stop playing.
Revolution: It is inevitable, so prepare, as they are.
Retribution: The guilty must answer for their crimes against the American people and the Constitution.
Restoration: Restore the American people, country and Constitutional republic.
I can't stand watching this asswipe.
Which one?
Good point. Stewart's desire to reduce mortgage principal to bailout the idots using their homes as ATMs, along with all the ass wipe flippers caught with their pants down, is just as disgusting as Timmah trying to claim if he hadn't thrown trillions of interest free taxpayer funds at the banks the world would have ended. What happened to all that crap about how great, and fair, capitalism is? Where is the creative destruction capitalism requires? The narrative changes more often than their underwear.
