my trash man never has to get out of the truck, his truck has a hydraulic arm which lifts the can and shakes it, and then puts it back on the ground. i also found out that they can't charge you for recycles or greens, because they they make money off those, they can only bill you for the things which don't fit either a green or recyclable category, which isnt much anymore. so if you stop paying your bill they still have to pick up the other two regardless. when i was a kid we had no trash pickup and we had to drive to the dump once a month or so, and i went with my father and we stopped for breakfast afterwards. those were good times.

When I was a kid, the high point was pulling out good shit from the dump and taking it back home. One trip, libraries from 100 miles away had dumped their books. We came back with an entire library of science, history, biographies and literature...plus an entire world book, encyclopedia britannia, and a third set of encyclopedia. Also, the entire Zane Grey series. Dad still has all of them.

I haven't watched the movie; but remakes of 'Romeo And Juliet' are so, well, boring, I suppose. After you've read the play, and consumed it deeply, any other story that tries to copy it is so, well, 'passe'.

so you've never seen Badlands? terrence mallick did it again in Days of Heaven, which the critics liked more which was shot in a 4:3 box, (the story has a strong labor capitalist subtext) in Badlands Kit is a hero of sorts, but in Days of Heaven well see for yourself. TM also made the Thin Red Line a remake of the original B&W. Badlands was famous for the haunting drum score, which was also a feature in (Peter Weirs) The Year of Living Dangerously. similar politically charged epic romantic stories set against a backdrop of revolution. the final such story in that genre? I think is Unbearable Lightness of Being. love and politics.
