Fire Generals at your peril.
Von Monstein of them all was the only winner. He did the impossible...regularly.
He compares favorably to Napoleon.
Always attacking.
That included Hitler.
That included the Nazis.
They made him sit out 1944-45. That's how delusional "the hard core" were in Germany then.(and how delusional our current hard core...on all sides...appear to be to me now. They all have ZERO elan as well.)

I winced when I watched the video. I am no macho man when it comes to working out in the gym, but I have never seen anything like that. Even as a joke.
can you put a two headed version of the one on the left, bush sr and jr, with special mention of the GOLF war, watch this drive.. by metaphor the Phil Mickelson scandal is providing us with GOLFERS paradox, did Martha Stewart go to jail because she didn't play, and will Obama pardon Phil because he does. or will he simply let his SEC do nothing like they always do.
in some ways it may come to resemble the process with Don Sterling, an off hand comment made privately spins into a racist slur, added to a media barrage, (war made from a bully pulpit) make the owner sell his team, owner protests then sells for 2 billion phony fiat dollars to a government run corporation. how much will Obama pay Putin for a piece of Ukraine? (Kerry was joking if he thought he could get it for a million)
ah D Day when a series of regional struggles became the battle between good and evil, and the US sided with a fading empire, the British, (to save them from themselves) only to become a faded empire themselves. the US that invaded Normandie bears no resemblence to the country we know today. so what did we accomplish? to create one global government, containing all the manifestations of evil, which occassionally picks on a small nation which has a few attributes of power, or we make up the story if they don't (weapons of mass destruction) so we can all beat our global chests triumphantly after destroying that insignificant nation, and repeating the manifesto cause, good over evil. the coalition of the willing. the new NATO, armed and on the move. culture war against the islamic faith (the basis of Shia law) by use of terror against the perception of terror, and the enemy of those who would deny the rights of women, gays, whales, people of color and all faiths, and the rights of children to go to school. (although some christian parents in america choose to keep their children out out school, we fight for their rights too) this is Norman Rockwells America in the twenty first century. leave it to beaver, television propaganda. at that moment the america they were fighting for had ended. a pyrhicc victory.
You would think after Korea and Vietnam we would have learned to stay away from "foreign entanglements" but I suppose the Military Industrial Complex won that battle - and our soldiers payed the price.
70 years ago, wow. And to think that in 1974 at 11 years old building models of all the planes and tanks that I was only 30 years removed from the events. That would be 1984 for this year's generation.
What are we doing in the Middle East and the Ukraine again? Certainly not fighting Socio-fascists.
WW2 was a horrendous and unnecessary event, just look at those three smiling assholes at Yalta, after 60+ million dead... and dont even get me started on WW1...
Perhaps it's a rhetorical quesion, but in case it's not: three letters: O I L ( and, protection of our 51st state, that pays us no taxes, I S R A E L).
