Morning Paper
What has the top attention of the residents in my fair town of Palo Ato? The answer: the monthly salary of the 20 year old interns at local firms like Facebook, Google, and Palantir. Here ya go, America - - this is what kids still in colllege are pulling down:

7*12=84, 84K per year. Government takes over 1/2. No one being over paid here, except the government.
I think Seattle should raise the minimum wage to 60K per year in order to be competitive.
I would much rather Fed money printing go to 20-something interns, who, with any brains and foresight, realize that they will live thru the tide going out on the good ole US of A, than the financier and political kleptocracy.
Yeah...saw this shit the last tech bubble....start ups burning cash like kindling...douche bag sites like shit.com...imbecile.com....all that....
and it came tumbling down like a motherfucker...and it will again...
The same is coming again but the outcome will be different. Generations have passed and all the active folks who existed in the 90's remembered Johnson/Nixon/<Ford>/Reagan. Most of the old voters remembered sound money. and recognized the hussle. Some are still around but now the center is moving towards the 90's+ generation and they have all been raised on 100% staright central banking, govt controlled media bullshit.
The fall is not what really matters. It is the recovery that will bite us in the ass.
That's enough for a coke habit. Good luck douche bags. Remember to lick the smegma coated dicks of the NSA.
smegma......oh barf....
well lets see price of housing per square foot in Palo Alto is about $1500/1 square foot x 1200 square foot plus tax and insurance. yeah youll need that 5-7K monthly salary just to get by!
I checked the Zillow rent link. $2300 for a one bedroom and about $3100 for 2 bed.
You actually need about $200K to live decently in the Bay Area..
$60k/year is not outrageous.
think of all the money they will save by not dating.
I think they can rent for less than that.
Oh good. Now, do they have openings for 100,000 more students?
I think the "Bear Hugs" article was more interesting and representative of the US economy in general.
PS. Since when does xerox copies of bad articles constitute good journalism?
What is rent in Palo Alto for a studio rat hole?
Check out the rentals

Rent is very high. These student interns are usually the top scholars from Stanford, MIT, Rice, etc. They will owe $200K for student loans, however.
Good luck to them.
This is chump change compared to 2nd and 3rd year summer law assocates at big firms.
I gave you an up credit however most law firms are cutting or freezing salaries beneath partnershp b/c the partners want moar of the cut and their revenues have been rather dull the last 8 years.
Here is how White & Case is pampering overpaid summer associates: $ 3077 per week in NY, LA, SV and DC ( source: http://uslawcareers.whitecase.com/faqs-rp/ ) .
This is in addition to all kinds of other reimbursements and perks, expensive dinners and lunchs, outings, concerts and sport events etc. All the top firms pay summer associates about the same. But there are a few that pay more. These are people who produce very little on the "hole" because they are too busy being wined and dined and rotating departments.
So while it certainly is not the best of times in the "big law" business, if we are to moan about overpaid summer internships, $7000 a month would be chump change comparatively speaking.
I don't think these numbers will decrease since the associate hiring mentality of the so called "big law" firms still has not changed.
You got to be fucking kidding me. What are these people gettng as salary when they become an associate? You're telling me an associate makes $20K+ per month?
Serious inquiry, cuz if true I am going to law school. Law is easy.
-Chumbz.
$12,000 per month for 2d and third year summer associates at the top firms
But it is a long shot and plenty of debt to get there.
And if you don't fuck up, you get an offer.
But if we are talking the so called Ivy League creme de la creme, the law interns get more. And it is not because they are producing anything the clients want to pay for. Most of it is non-billable.
Fucking little Harvard Soviets.
But don't worry, the lucky ones get to suffer in depression for the rest of their over stressed lives. That is why suicides in law are way up. But they do a good job of keeping the lid on it.
Really? Back in the day, summer intern jobs paid maybe a couple of times minimum wage no matter where or what, and I thought that even applied to law associates. No?
Thirty years ago law firm starting salaries and engineer starting salaries were about the same. Not so much anymore I guess.
At least we may also hope that the 'interns' might be making something of some sort of 'value' while the lawyers are doing their best to stifle anything being done.
