Yes, these two feckless Hollywood tools will have to take their Hollywood horseshit back to the barn and wait for another opportune time, preferably a frightening crisis, to sneak SOPA and PIPA under our door.

Meanwhile this whole episode has accomplished several things: (a) there are plenty of young previously apolitical but now angry internet denizens, (b) it has raised public awareness of the kind of trampling of civil liberties that the douche weasels on Capital Hill are all to happy to implement for the right price and (c) it has raised public awareness of the serious imperfections embedded in our intellectual property laws, which are apparently primarily designed to entrench entertainment and media royalty, perpetuate business models outdated by advances in technology and stifle progressive interent culture. I'm not talking about pirating movies.

Max Keiser is calling it a Hollywood copyright cancer that spreads to the internet. Others are now calling for a box office and music boycott. Not a bad idea.

Meanwhile, we are subjected to more evidence of the kinds of law enforcement activites Eric In-action Jackson's Mortgage Fraud Task Force is pursuing. Today it was announced that the former President of the Sonoma Chapter of the Hells Angels has been convicted of falsifying mortgage applications to obtain properties for marijuana farms. Isn't this exciting? Do you feel safe now?

What about the real mortgage fraud gang? WTF is being done about them?

Does shutting down Mega-Upload, an obvious bone thrown at Hollywood, make you feel even better?

It better not!

MEGA-MERS (FINAL)

That's right folks, it is perfectly alright to run websites designed to steal people's homes and nest eggs; provided they are free of copyright.

Anyone want to wager on whether or not those MegaUpload guys will get away using the Dick Fuld/Jon Corzine ("I didn't know nuttin") defense?

Sopa on a Ropa.  Be careful when bending over.

Vote everyone out of office, the newbies can be no worse, the technocracy will still be in place, and at least it will take the new guys a while to figure out how best to lie, cheat, steal, destroy the constitution and lead to a continuation of the general destruction of this country.

Changing out the elected types does nothing about the career SES / GS-15 bureaucrat liberal political class who remain embedded like ticks regardless of who their nominal politically appointed boss is.  Talking about the "We-Be" permanent employees.  "We-Be here when they get here, and We-Be here when they are gone".  If a new political appointee comes in they don't like, they just ignore them until the next election.  If Congress passes a law but does not provide funding to implement the law, they just ignore the law because of no funding.

The government cycle is:

Year 1

Getting rid of the old political appointees and replacing them with our guys - takes a year to get all the political types approved by Congress.

Year 2

The new political appointees sort of figure out what is going on once they finally all get approved, but are enjoying being Assistant Secretary of blah-blah, going to Washington entertainment events, being courted by lobbyists sucking up to the new political appointees, etc. etc.

Year 3

The only real window of opportunity to "move the needle" on the election agenda, but waste lots of time and effort trying to force the "We Be" SES / GS-15 permanent career employees to do what the political types want to do.

Year 4

Nothing gets done because the political appointees are busy with the election.  And the We-Be class is not going to do anything until they see who the next boss will be.  Sit tight and see which way the political wind is blowing.

Permanent We-Be SES / GS15 employee class

The permanent We-Be SES / GS-15 class can just wait out political appointees they don't like / disagree with in Year 3. The most important thing is to survive and grow the bureaucracy.  Firing permanent We-Be SES / GS-15 career employees is about impossible.  The only minor risk is being part of "pass the trash" and getting moved laterally to another federal agency.

Political appointees nominally at the top can come and go, but the career liberal We-Be permanent employees stay regardless. And the federal budgeting cycle is two years - This year submit a budget request for 2 years from now, so that Congress has next year to think about it / lobbyists have a year to massage it.  Back and forth for a year, submit a revised budget for actual next year, and then don't pass that until February - March or so into the fiscal year.  Have April - June to actually spend the budget that Congress passed.  July - September the hook comes out and sweeps up unspent funding for unbudgeted Congressional and We-Be pet projects, and change orders for budget over-runs from the Beltway Bandit giant contractors.  Fiscal year starts on October 1, and since Congress has not passed an appropriation law for each agency, goes on a "continuing resolution" and agency can't start new projects in the budget until Congress finally passes the appropriation act for the agency (Defense, Education, Homeland Security, Agriculture, etc.) in February - March.

So the political appointees really have the three months of April - June of Year 3 to actually implement their agenda over a four year election cycle.

That is why elections don't mean that much.  The permanent We-Be class is really running the ship and driving from the engine room, regardless of how the appointed political types are turning the steering wheel and moving the throttle up on the bridge of the ship. The steering wheel is not directly connected to the rudder.  So it depends upon where the permanent We-Be GS-15 / SES class wants to go.  If their supposed Captain on the bridge wants to go somewhere they don't, they ignore commands from the bridge until the politically appointed Captain is replaced / quits to become a lobbyist and make the big dough. Never say No. Just don't actually do anything, do a long study / analysis, no funds in the budget to do it, and wait out the Captain until he or she is replaced.

No I am not Jubilant.

Hear me out. I did not like this SOPA thing one bit. And the very idea that our Government will essentially start to try and bury this shit into very important bills in the middle of the night while we sleep is abhorrant.

It's a sign of things to come. Congress in general has finally become a Insitution similar to the Petrified Forest. Nothing changes, just the same old scramble for the same old crap.

It's time the Nation balances the money and establish a budget for each Cabinet agency and make it positive each and every year.

For that to happen, we need a new Congress.

Otherwise our Terrorist enemies have won big when we are no longer free.

I love the USA enough to fight the CRAP that they try to shit on us. I wont stand for it.

It is not important what happened to this particular act.  Their intention is clear, and they will try to introduce time and time again, in several guises  until they get their way.  These pieces of shit need to be voted out of office yesterday.  Come to think of it, it should be made a criminal offence to bring a law that violates the Constitution, punishable by at least immediate impeachment, and a permanent ban from any public office.
