What is the cost of a broken life?

What's going to bring the markets back to reality? I think... Bankruptcies! Lots and lots of bankruptcies!

I have been wondering what might force the markets down, despite the best efforts of the Fed, the investment banks, and the commercial banks to keep the market's propped up by devaluing the dollar, buying ETFs and futures (and using manipulation like HFT). Reasons for this are here. ...I didn't say they were good reasons. Anyway...

I think it will be bankruptcies. It won't matter what they do, when companies start to go belly up, their stock value goes to zero... And that will bring the indexes down, no matter what.

This makes sense to me, and sets us up for a Nikkei style decline, with the next wave down stopped by a round of intervention, which causes a wave up... But not to new highs, followed by a wave down, more intervention... Lather, rinse, repeat.

Someone please thrash this idea thouroughly.
