Head Of Iran's Revolutionary Guards: "A War With Israel Will Occur"

Tyler Durden's picture

Even as the popular ADHD affliction is preoccupied with who paid what taxes, and whether this poll shows that guy on top or this one, until tomorrow when they flip providing even more meaningless chitchat opportunities, everyone appears to have once again lost sight of the big picture, which is that two US ships continue full steam ahead toward Iran, namely the CVN-74 Stennis aircraft carrier which has crossed the Pacific ocean and is now a week away from its target, and the LHA 5 Peleliu big deck amphibious warfare ship, where they will join two other aircraft carriers and the LHD 7 Iwo Jima as summarized by the graphic below. Why is US naval presence in the Gulf soaring to a concentration not seen since the last Gulf war? The head of the Iran revolutionary guard may have an idea. From Reuters: Israel will eventually go beyond threats and will attack Iran, the commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards was quoted as saying on Saturday.

As speculation mounts that Israel could launch air strikes on Iran before U.S. elections in November, Mohammad Ali Jafari told a news conference that the Jewish state would be destroyed if it took such a step. "Their threats only prove that their enmity with Islam and the revolution is serious, and eventually this enmity will lead to physical conflict," Jafari said when asked about Israeli threats to strike Iran's nuclear facilities, the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) reported.

"We are making all efforts to increase our defensive capabilities so that if there is an attack ... we could defend ourselves and other countries that need our help with high defensive capabilities."

And just to be clear:

"A war will occur, but it's not clear where or when it will be," Jafari was quoted as saying on Saturday. "Israel seeks war with us, but it's not clear when the war will occur."

"Right now they see war as the only method of confrontation," he said.

And when a war does break out, the only question is what China, Russia and India will do. Iran's stance is clear:  "If they (Israel) start something, they will be destroyed and it will be the end of the story for them," Jafari said, according to ISNA.

One thing is guarranteed: in one-two weeks US naval presence in the 5th Fleet will be unprecedented, consisting of at least 3 US aircraft carriers, and 2 amphibious warfare groups, excluding any other naval support the rest of the developed world will throw in.

In other words, if for some reason the US needs a big diversion in the days just before the election, it is sure to get it.

while I often use a quick wiki-link, I'd dig deeper on any subject that had even a whiff of "Israel" about it. . .

Here in Moscow I recently received a dark-blue folder dated 1975. It contains one of the most well-buried secrets of Middle Eastern and of US diplomacy. The secret file, written by the Soviet Ambassador in Cairo, Vladimir M. Vinogradov, apparently a draft for a memorandum addressed to the Soviet politbureau, describes the 1973 October War as a collusive enterprise between US, Egyptian and Israeli leaders, orchestrated by Henry Kissinger. If you are an Egyptian reader this revelation is likely to upset you. I, an Israeli who fought the Egyptians in the 1973 war, was equally upset and distressed, – yet still excited by the discovery. For an American it is likely to come as a shock.

http://www.counterpunch.org/2012/02/22/what-really-happened-in-the-yom-k...

and yes, everything has a point of view. . . but in the case of recent "history" involving these players, I prefer to re-view all angles.

there is no way that Iran will "choose" to "attack" Israel "first" - tho' the narrative may attempt to portray this as "what really happened" - as always, we ask:   cui bono?

The naval buildup to Desert Storm/Shield

Thus, on C-day, 7 August--the day that President Bush committed U.S. forces to the protection of Saudi Arabia-- naval presence in the crisis area consisted of two carrier battle groups with more than 100 fighter and attack aircraft plus a surface action group and command ship in the Persian Gulf. Those forces were later reinforced by four additional carrier battle groups and two battleships. The Navy also deployed the command ship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19), a 31 ship amphibious task force, plus various support ships, combatants, mine warfare ships, and submarines.

Add, we just need a little more time to get our nukes ready.

Since North Korea has some and Iran has the money, seems like they could buy a few.The middle east is going to get hot in more ways than one.Good way for the Europeans and Americans to divert attention and funds to defense contractors.

One does not have to bully just by the fact of being armed. How many that are carrying a sidearm are attacked each day compared to how many unarmed people get killed each day by some thief?

That is why statistically it is shown that areas where the populace is armed, crime is lower.

Iran is dumb enough to talk war BS without nukes. Go ahead and let them have nukes and let them escalate their rhetoric into actual war. Israel has had nukes for a while and could have blown Iran away a long time ago, yet has not.

Most sane countries know that to use a nuclear weapon without a devastating global war in process like WWII would be politically devastating with global comdemnation. I don't see Iran in that sane category.

Your beliefs are fascinating, but they are false.  It's NOT statistically shown that crime is lower where the populace is armed.  Iran is NOT "talking war BS."  And Israel, despite its nukes, cannot "blow away" Iran with them.

Sounds like you're more appropriately equipped to be watching GI Joe cartoons.

Actually the US has been bullying Pakistan who has a long border with Iran.  It wouldn't be very difficult to smuggle a few nukes across that border.  And there's plenty of Pakistanis that aren't pleased with the way they're being treated by the West.

Also Yogi, there are military within Paki that have custody of their nukes that have only tenuous allegiance to the Paki civilian government. In fact military coups in Paki are sort of like the super bowl is here, frequent and predictable. It would only take one or two crossing the border into Iran to upset the entire global balance of power. Look at the Iran-Pakistan border, there would be no way to stop the shipment of a couple weapons that would fit in a single truck over that border. And it is no stretch of the imagination to think that an ambitious general might cut a deal with Iran for support in his own takeover bid in return for a couple "missing" nukes. They fucking hid OBL 800 yards from their version of West Point in what HAD to be a rogue protective action on the part of generals no longer under government control. Anything in such a place is possible.

There are thousands of Jews living in Iran who do not want to leave, protected officially under Iranian Shia religious doctrine ... they do not want to leave despite the desperation of Israel to induce them to depart.

Iran's President Ahmadinejad is quite well received by non-Zionist Jews - such as many here in Belgium, particularly in Antwerp - who understand the propaganda against Iran.

Non-Zionist Jews used to be the majority of Jews up till 1930, and there are still hundreds of thousands of them, but their voice is largely silenced by the mainstream. Here you see video of Ahmadinejad being warmly greeted by religious Jews in New York City:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCLN2INVxVg

The quotes claiming Ahmadinejad wants to massacre Israelis are typically mis-translations and bogus frauds, as Persian-speaking professors have continually tried to explain in the face of media hoaxes. Ahmadinejad in fact says 'I love the Jews, just not the Zionists'.

His view is only that the Israeli regime should and will disappear from the pages of history ... a sentiment with which religious non-Zionist Jews in Belgium agree, who view the Israeli state as a sin and crime and offence against their ancient Jewish faith.

Iran deserves to be criticised for many things - for their death penalty and physical judicial penalties, their killing of gays, and the government-sanctioned torture and torment that makes them a cousin of the criminal Americans ... But Iran is nonetheless a target victim of the Western media complex.

Valuable to consider the deeply religious and very well-informed Jews greating Ahmadinejad ... and consider why they agree with so much of what Ahmadinejad has to say about Israel. These Jews know that Ahmadinejad is no intrinsic threat to the lives of Jews ... and that, like non-Zionist Jews generally, he also is another victim of the devious American-Israeli propaganda machine.

Israel's problem really isn't military.  The problem is demographic.  The USA is only marginally important to the endgame for Israel.

Israel is going to be an Arab state within 30 years, but not because of *conquest.*  It's because the majority of the population of the territory considered "Israel" will finally just overwhelm the apartheid system.

Same thing would've happened in the Southern US a hundred years ago, if the process hadn't been headed off with a war.

The assassination of the US Ambassador and his security detail was clearly orchestrated out of Cairo. And of course the NY Times has informed that "we're going to start arresting people soon" and "white people's life expectancy is dropping." oh, and "as with Mitt Romney who for years has been complaining about China so it is true now with the Obama Administration." namely...we are actively becoming a "counterweight"...whatever that means. When all you do is start fights that someone else has to finish by definition you are expanding the war effort. This one is going...."viral" as they say.

When will the masses wake up to the fact that Nation/States are evil enterprises that represent  the elite oligarchs that lead them?

The masses have the power of numbers.  They should:

1) stop volunteering for military service

2) pull all monies out of large financial corporations

3) whenever possible buy from local suppliers

4) cut off TV and mainstream media sources

5) see ALL members of the labor class as brothers and sisters rather than focusing on divisions within that group.

So for the majority of recent history when militaries were conscription-based, there were no large corporations, almost all suppliers were local, and there was no non-local media, things were just peachy-keen for the masses?

What they need to do is have some ******* integrity, acquire some character, maybe learn some non-exploitative and dignified ethics, stop taking the easiest conceivable path at all possible times, stop asking the Big Men to solve all their problems, stop voluntary enslaving themselves, stop being so goddamn servile and sycophantic, develop a habit for critical and skeptical thought, rational enquiry, intelligent debate, start reading non-fiction books, take some fucking responsibility and have some fucking self-respect, know when to admit fault and have the courage to actually do it, accept that consumerism is not a constructive or helpful response to having a pathetic and vapid existence devoid of meaningful relationships, goals, acheivements, etc. --- things that cannot be taught, particularly not to imbeciles unwilling and - by all indications, unable - to learn.

And in place of ridiculous classist item #5 - which is merely a twist on a theme of oppressive bourgeois ideology - see ALL peaceful persons who engage only in voluntary and cooperative social relations and who abstain from the use of coercion and violence - as their equals, who possess the inalienable right to self-determination within the boundary of non-violence.

Mind your own business and let others do the same - that is a tall order for the degenerates otherwise known as 'the electorate'.

My point is that there are Jews who do not accept Zionism.

Being a Jew does not make one a Zionist. A Zionist does not have to be Jewish.

Zionism as a movement seeks power and wealth, often at others' expense.

The Persians want regional hedgemony. Obviously there will be a conflict, but too many USA Citizens believe Israel is guilty of no sins. I choose to disagree.

history taught in the west is that nobody can learn from it,because its false.

The Soviets had 178 + tactical battlefield nukes on the ground in Cuba at the time of

the crisis caused by JFK deploying intermediate BM's in Turkey..

Fortunately JFK blinked first in that standoff, and agreed to remove those deployed nukes .

ONLY then did the USSR back down over Cuba.

The Russians could be using that same playbook, and have tactical nukes pre positioned in Iran.

History rhymes.

That is a CROCK Crock.  The head of the Pentagon Leon Panetta said two months ago...

In an interview with CNN's Barbara Starr, Panetta said Israel had not decided whether to attack Iran, which he said would be about a year away from being able to produce a nuclear weapon if it were to decide to do so.

One cannot be a matter of months away from building a bomb should one elect to do so if they have NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS PROGRAM!

"Iran has refused international demands that it stop producing enriched uranium, saying that its work is aimed at fueling civilian nuclear reactors. But some Western countries, particularly Israel, say they fear the program is a cover for Iran to develop atomic weapons, and the International Atomic Energy Agency has said it can no longer verify that the Iranian program is strictly peaceful."

U.S. spy agencies believe that Iran has not decided to pursue nuclear weapons but that it is building the "scientific, technical and industrial capacity" that would allow it to do so, James Clapper, the national intelligence chief, told a Senate committee in February.

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

No nuclear weapons program?  If they have built all the infrastructure a nuclear weapons program needs, and a stockpile of highly enriched uranium, enriched far in excess of that needed by a reactor to produce electricity, then they have a nuclear weapons program, to say they have not decided to pursue nuclear weapons yet is disingenuous and you can save it for the third graders who might still be stupid enough to believe that shinola.

They made their own choices, they can just live with the consequences, as will we all.  But, for an unstable theocracy which has for decades sworn to destroy Israel and the US to be allowed to get, or even have the nearby ability to get nuclear weapons is just not going to happen.  WWIII will happen if they do.  like it, don't like it, whatever, but that is the way it is.

Pat Buchanan: Let Congress decide on war with Iran

Panetta is raising the specter of pre-emptive war.

When Pelley's report hit, however, the Pentagon immediately began to walk the cat back.

“The secretary was clear that we have no indication that the Iranians have made a decision to develop a nuclear weapon,” said Pentagon press secretary George Little. “He (Panetta) didn't say that Iran would, in fact, have a nuclear weapon in 2012.”

Little added that U.N. inspectors remain in Iran and have access to its uranium stockpile, and should Iran attempt a “breakout” by diverting low-enriched uranium to a hidden facility to convert it to weapons grade, U.N. inspectors would instantly detect the diversion.

“We would retain sufficient time under any such scenario to take appropriate action,” said Little.

In short, the Pentagon does not believe Iran has made a decision to build atomic weapons, and the department is confident that, should it do so, the United States would have ample warning.

Little's definitive statement, “We have no indication that the Iranians have made a decision to develop a nuclear weapon,” coincides with the consensus of all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies, including the CIA and Defense Intelligence Agency, in December 2007. http://www.unionleader.com/article/20111227/OPINION02/712279995

"We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome. Most European capitals are targets for our air force. Let me quote General Moshe Dayan: 'Israel must be like a mad dog, too dangerous to bother.' I consider it all hopeless at this point. We shall have to try to prevent things from coming to that, if at all possible. Our armed forces, however, are not the thirtieth strongest in the world, but rather the second or third. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen before Israel goes under." --Martin Levi van Creveld, Israeli military historian and theorist.

The U.S. and Israel were responsible for creating the Stuxnet computer worm that wreaked havoc with Iranian nuclear facilities, later spreading to the Internet in 2010. THat’s according to a report from The New York Times, since confirmed by other news organizations.

And the first salvos in the massive cyberattack were launched via an unassuming piece of technology: a thumb drive.

If Netanyahu attacks Iran it’s more than a Zionist move, it’s an Israeli move. And if it occurs, no protests from American leadership will keep the U.S. out of the war because the world knows American foreign policy operates under Israeli foreign policy. That’s why Netanyahu believed that injecting himself into the presidential election would tie America’s interests to his own aggressiveness.

Funding for these wars comes from the Federal Reserve and the ties with Israel’s policies are unmistakable in that the wars target Israel’s enemies and fuel the US/Israeli Empire’s need for oil (Just saying and quoting Wikipedia: “the Bernanke family was concerned that Ben would ‘lose his Jewish identity’ if he went to Harvard. Fellow Dillon (SC) native Kenneth Manning, who would eventually become a professor of the history of sciences at MIT, assured the family ‘there are Jews in Boston’. Once Bernanke was at Harvard for his freshman year, Manning took him to Brookline for Rosh Hashanah services ”).

It’s obvious this presidential election is more about Israel than the American people.

Within hours of his selection as Romney’s running mate, Paul Ryan was on a plane headed for Las Vegas to tap the unlimited dollar reservoir of Sheldon Adelson, the frantic billionaire who wants American foreign policy to be subservient to Israeli foreign policy: more settlements, more Israeli expansion, Jerusalem as the Israel’s capital, and of course, military action against Iran.

The Zionists “October surprises” have been happening weeks ahead of time -- instigation of riots throughout the Muslim countries, publication of timed release of videos such as Innocence of Muslims and now a French magazine’s depiction of a naked Mohammed, the depiction of Obama (the most pro-Israel president in history) as an enemy of Israel by the U.S. Zionists neo-cons, and, of course, the incredible staged action of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu intent on World War III ignited by a U.S. Empire already engaged in the 9/11 fostered War on Terror.

This comment by Lieutenant General Shaul Mofaz, an opposition leader and former Defense Minister addressing Netanyahu directly in the Knesset, sums up the situation:

“Over the past few months, Israel has waged an extensive and relentless p.r. campaign with the sole objective of preparing the ground for a premature military adventure.

“This p.r. campaign has deeply penetrated the ‘zone of immunity’ of our national security, threatens to weaken our deterrence, and our relations with our best friends. Mr. Prime Minister, you want a crude, rude, unprecedented, reckless, and risky intervention in the U.S. elections. Tell us whom you serve and for what?” – Letter from Tel Aviv, The New Yorker, Sept. 3, 2012 issue, p 23.

Netanyahu cannot attack Iran independently, but if he can motivate the proper parties, he MIGHT be able to induce US assistance in such an attack after the election.

I don't think it'll succeed--I don't think Romney's going to win, nor do I think he would be that easy to maneuver into supporting an attack on Iran even if he does.  But it looks like that's the "play" Netanyahoo is attempting.

The one eye dollar in search of a scapegoat...

the more police power, peer pressure, applied, the greater the crime, the deeper the syndrome, as the false assumptions multiply into exponential anxiety, seeking a place to relieve itself, in an environment of violence, take what you can, when you can, life on the edge, all to protect the status quo. Capital grows succeeding generations of ignorant souls, until they self-destruct, micro battery cells fueling a macro economy, through the likes of Oprah; I love Chicago, but keep an exit in Mendocino, which has constant replacement, bring them in, slaughter them, and discard them, with a healthcare system built for the purpose.

The only difference between Chicago, Vermont, and Mendocin (or any other place in the dc empire) is the rate of slave reproduction and turnover, in an overflowing global junk yard. That is the income inequality experiment. Oprah is just the latest lottery winner, with a digital global cash card that only increases positive feedback. Of course she loved Chicago; she thought she had a profitable exit. The charter schools are dumber tha the public schools as a system, but that doesn't relieve the responsibility of participating teachers. If they were courageous, they would jettison the administration all together, but pack animals cannot escape peer pressure, which is the defining catch 22 of the middle class all together.

The mining situation in South Africa is dissimilar, where silver is manipulated and work, relative to make-work, is penalized. Digital infrastructure, a more obtuse solution, blows up more spectacularly with each iteration. Water is diverted, SanFrancisco becomes krugman's mint, and Fresno, Modesto, and Bakersfield make the bottom 5 income sh-list, so, naturally, krugman proppses high speed rail between them, and Walmart offers to pick up the slack from UnitedTechnology.

Tell your friends, a lottery ticket and an ebt card in every pot...courtesy of obamney. Find that scapegoat and nail him to the cross...

From here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestine

The first clear use of the term Palestine to refer to the entire area between Phoenicia and Egypt was in 5th century BC Ancient Greece.[14]Herodotus wrote of a 'district of Syria, called Palaistinê" in The Histories, the first historical work clearly defining the region, which included the Judean mountains and the Jordan Rift Valley.

Those who live in Palestine would be the Palestinians - including the Twelve Tribes of Israel, among others.  So the Twelve Tribes of Israel are the descendants of the Biblical Jews (Jew technically = of the Tribe of Judah; one tribe out of twelve)?  The Arabs who live in Palestine are the descendants of the Biblical Jews?  Interesting logic you've got going there.

Conventional wisdom says the Arabs are out of Ishmael, the Twelve Tribes of Israel (of which Judah = Jews is only one) are out of Isaac.  Arab Palestinians are cousins of Jewish Palestinians - not descended from Jewish Palestinians.

Palestine is and always has been a geography.  Palestine has never been a blood-line.  Palestine has been - and is - a geography in which live multiple blood-lines.

Israeli Historian: Palestinians Are Biological Descendants of Bible’s Jews

As for Palestine, Schlomo Sand suggests that the Palestinians are the people we call "the Jews"
in the Bible:

Apart from enslaved prisoners, the population of
continued to live on their lands, even after the destruction of the second
temple [in 70 AD]. Some converted to Christianity in the 4th century,
while the majority embraced Islam during the 7th century Arab conquest.

Most Zionist thinkers were aware of this: Yitzhak Ben Zvi, later president of Israel, and
David Ben Gurion, its first prime minister, accepted it as late as 1929, the
year of the great Palestinian revolt. Both stated on several occasions that
the peasants of Palestine were the descendants
of the inhabitants of ancient Judea.

I think there will be a war, but it is hard to be sure how it kicks off. Israel is willing, but only if it knows the US can be brought in to help gain the victory. Israel can punish Iran very badly, but it may have trouble gaining Iran's surrender. This is where the USA is vital.

Jessie Ventura is interesting, some things I like about his take on things, in other cases he is a bit off base. I actually went to BootCamp in San Diego with Jessie though he was not in my company and we were not well acquantied. We are both from Minnesota and joined at nearly the same time.  I respect his ability to get through BUDS and then onto what ever SEAL work he did after. I have heard two stories, that he was on a regular SEAL team and that he was not, but was an UDT, under water demolition team, two very different things.

9/11, Jessie gets much right, but takes it too far. I never believed anything about an inside job, though I do believe the Administration was almost criminal in it's lack of interest in the know threat. It was so convenient for them to have 9/11 to use to push the Neo-Con agenda. The very worst thought I carry is that they knew it was coming and did not follown up because if it did indeed happen they knew they had their new Peral Harbor.

I don't know if that is true. But the lack of action by the US adminstration is hard to credit when you have the evidence that US intelligence heads inside the Administration team were running around with their hair on fire warning of a coming terror attack. The evidence given by MS Rice after 9/11 is full of lies, how come. "No one could have known" she said. Hell, she had several reports put on her desk in black and white saying an attack was coming and intelligence had picked up all the signs that a big attack was in the early stages. Planes as weapons. "Who could have known" she said. This woman knew she had reports that planes were a prefered weapon and would be used to crash buildings.

She, long with others have lied, how come? Either they let it happen, which you don't believe. Okay, we assume that then and it leaves us with the fact that they were complete idiots and incompetent to hold their jobs.

Most of the heads of agencies who failed on 9/11 were given presidential medals of freedom by Mr. Bush. Now that took some brass eh?

I think he was a good governor of Minnesota. I was sorry to see him go. He made both left and right very angry. That is good!

He is a loud mouth, no doubt. He has so much good to say, but then always goes too far. That decreases credibility. He is NO friend of the left, if you knew him, you'de know Jessie is NO leftist!

I agree that Ventura is not the ideal mouthpiece for truth.  He is a self-important loud mouth and can come across as arrogant but moron?  He is absolutely not a moron.  Don't shoot the messenger.

No, he is not a moron, he has it down pat,and as an ex governor, and an Ex Navy Seal,he has seen this world thru eyes 98% on this board will never see, nor understand. So, unlike Piers Morgan, HE has been thru the shit, and come out clean on the other side.

The audience seemed to get him, really well.Self importance, and a loud mouth do not fit either.

If YOU have man upped, and lived it.............your get the right to say your piece.

The "Inside Job" debate depends on whether you believe Israel is the 51st state of the US as demonstrated politically over the past half century. 911 has all the tell tail signs of a Mossad operation. Regardless, the job could not be pulled off without NORAD and the Pentagons compliance by which indicting the US government of criminal misdoing.

Jack,

Why give Jessie Ventura any credence whatsoever when you don't have to, at any level?

Propaganda is designed to be 90% truth and 10% lies, so that you give credence to the 90% that is true, and then you're prepped to swallow the 10% of lies that are the whole point of the exercise.

Why risk it?  You don't need to take anyone's word for anything.  You're capable of getting to the bottom of things yourself.

Personally, I think Ventura and all the clown like him are as dodgy as it gets, and I sure don't need their pump-priming in order to work through stuff myself.

You're confusing Judaism with Zionism which makes you a stooge.

If you're so fanatical about the cause, then fuck off and fight for it. Don't drag us into it or ask for our tax dollars.
