Paul Ryan: "Do You Want Barack Obama To Be Reelected? Then Don't Vote For Ron Paul"
It took a while for the unspoken truth to be finally spoken, but sooner or later, it always is. Via The Hill:
Paul Ryan argued Monday that a vote for a third-party candidate would likely help President Obama win reelection.
Ryan was asked why voters should not vote for Ron Paul. The Republican vice presidential candidate responded that a vote for Paul, who ran for the 2012 GOP nomination, would effectively split the vote in a way that helps Obama.
"Do you want Barack Obama to be reelected? Then don't vote for Ron Paul," Ryan said during a campaign speech in Lima, Ohio, on Monday.
Ryan went on to say that Paul was a good friend.
"Actually, Ron's a friend of mine. I know Ron very well. I like Ron quite a bit. There are many things that Ron has championed that I'm a big believer in, especially liberty and sound money."
Although Paul is no longer campaigning for president, he has not endorsed Mitt Romney's campaign.

To be fair, Bicycle didn't say RP's endorsement would guarantee his vote, just that it was a prerequisite. I also assume that a RP endorsement would only come from the campaign embracing some/all of RP's platform, in which case its not neccessarily selling out. As was well-stated above, the point is to get the policies of liberty in place, I care somewhat less about who exactly implements them.
But let's be real, Romney/Ryan will not be implementing major RP ideals anytime this century.

Of course, there's always the old "if you don't vote, you have no right to complain" line. I think the opposite is true: if you vote for the perceived lesser of two evils, you have no right to complain when more evil ensues.
The two party system that graciously allows us to choose between a giant douche and a turd sandwich every four years is no longer leglitimate. Voting (for anyone) only lends an air of legitimacy to an otherwise hopelessly lost system. Not voting sends a powerful message if enough people do it.
