Cashin On An "Embarrassing Victory" In The Election

Tyler Durden's picture

As normal, what takes pundits 1000s of words to pontificate upon, UBS' ever-ready Art Cashin succinctly summarizes in one paragraph. Critically, as we have noted previously (here, here, and here), he hopes that the election is not close...

There is a broad hope among traders that the election is not close. With the divided state of the nation on lots of issues, a close result might be the worse outcome.

Several pundits project a possible win for Romney in the popular vote with the President taking the Electoral College. That possibility was enhanced by Sandy's damage. With the worst impact in states that traditionally vote Democratic, a lower turnout could skew one way. A split outcome could bring victory but some embarrassment to the President, since he is on record several times over the years stating that the presidency should go to the candidate that wins the popular vote.

Nonetheless, the law's the law.

Indeed...

BTW....were stocks supposed to be down days in a row and clonging to 13,000 day before election? Thats not how I recall the punditry laying it out....weren't we supposed to be around 14,500 today for our glorious messiahs re-coronation?

Beyond political grandstanding I've never understood where people get that. Obama didn't nationalize the banks, or go after guns, Obamacare is just one big gift to the insurance companies. Obama talks liberal on the campaign trail, but falls in line with corporate interests every time.

20 minutes of largely rinky dinky stuff with a few good flip flops thrown in there. Romney is a moderate and a politician. Does that mean he's a psychopath? No. We all know he lacks the conviction of a Ron Paul. But at least he doesn't view half the country as "enemies" who are worthy targets of "revenge."

Just what do you offer, other than all or nothing nitpicking? Nihilism? That's fine, just say so - stop tearing into someone pointing out the obvious that in our choice between the lesser of two evils, one is clearly more evil than the other.

EDIT: Nice dodge on the second part of my post. Mittens staff is dominated by Banksters/Lobbyists/Bush appointees, etc...

I think the point is, we might not get a result tomorrow night. Any delay in a recount for example could push the decision-fest in Congress back even further.  They have something like 19 scheduled days in session before the 'fiscal cliff' detonates.

The clearer the outcome, the faster the political calculus and ensuing responses.  Or so goes the logic.  It is not a 'big picture' kind of thinking.  Just trying to survive trading through the holidays.

It wasn't explicit, but much was said between the lines-- "may all those with ears hear," etc.

BHO made a big error, among many, going after the Catholic Church.  Look what happened with Pope John Paul II-- before you knew it, (secret Russian Orthodox) Gorbachev was pulling out the tanks and they were having elections behind the Wall.  It took a little over 10 years for that to happen.  Jack Kennedy wouldn't have made BHO's errors, and he was a better President to boot.  A threat to somebody, after all.  Then we were left with squirrely Bobby (R.I.P.), and Submarine Racer Third Class Teddy...

We've had split decisions before. Gore won the popular vote in 2000. Didn't really cause much of an issue. Everyone knows it's the electoral votes that matter. Why do you think both candidates are in Ohio? Tough luck to the loser and complaining about winning the popular vote and losing the election makes the loser an even bigger loser.

VT Hacked Over Romney’s Lifting of Cuba Embargo (document)
Document Below Promises Lifting Sanctions if Elected

By Gordon Duff

Since 1999, a team of FBI and intelligence agents from Mexico have traced Mitt Romney and his mistress, Maria, Perez Andropov, a Cuban/Russian intelligence agent, traveling in and out of Cuba on diplomatic passports.

The memo below, received from official sources, highly classified, outlines the deal made with Raul and Fidel Castro and Mitt Romney.

Accompanying documents reveal too much about the intelligence networks that passed this on.  Their report gives dates and times of travel, intercepts phone calls from Romney while in Cuba and tracks Romney as he travels through Cuba, meets with the Castros and flies back through Canada or Mexico.

Please download and distribute this before it is hacked.  We have been under continual attack since exposing the Romney/Cuba relationship.

Currently we are validating the one photograph of Romney and Maria getting off a plane in Havana, hand in hand, both in stripes, his collarless shirt, her very short dress.

They make a lovely couple. (Surveillance notes below)

The following was included with the photographs, as an excerpt:

Location: La Vaezero Cuba

Date: xxxxxxxxx1999

Subjects: Willard Mitt Romney and Maria Perez (Andropov) Suspected Cuban intelligence operative

Notes: Discussions between the aforementioned persons of interest  taking place on Cuban territory in the city of La Vaezero include but are not limited to drug trafficking, money laundering and currency and human trafficking into the United States of America.

Witnessed was a romantic encounter between the aforementioned persons.

Records: Photographs of the romantic encounter and contemporaneous surveillance team notes. A series of audio recordings were made.

Are you stupids not aware?   If Benghazi is traced to top where the blame is being, it will be general Petreaus who is having the blame.  He is a good general to be having even if he was having a bad decision.  The mormon who is a liar was having a National Security briefing to make him see what really happened and that is why he is suddenly having no more words to be saying about it.  General Petreaus is a man who the people having red necks are liking very much.

"Nonetheless, the law's the law."

That's a hoot. We've been living in the post-rule of law era for quite some time. The supreme law of the land, The Constitution, is virtually a dead letter. From the 40-year war on drugs (freedom), JFK's murder, 9/11, Ruby Ridge, Waco, Eric Holder, the list goes on and on.

The mormon who lies would be doing that.  The reading you should be having is about what mormons believe.  It is making me have many sadnesses that the people who are Americans have no informations in their heads about the goals of mormonism.   Why are you thinking they go to so many peoples in the world to grow the powerfulness they are having?   Many stupids will be surprising if they learn what the truth is about mormons and the agenda they are having.   Everyone should be reading the words in a book called "Under the Banner of Heaven".   If you do it will be making you have bad smells in the bottoms of the pants you are wearing.

Cashin has probably forgeotten more in the past month than you could ever know.  This guy has been pretty much as straightforward as can be for decades,   He's a clasy guy who has given back more money and time to his community than most people with whom he works.  He's done well and shred his wealth with the schools and groups who helped him get there as well as countless charitires.

He, actually, would be a classic case of why to leave the 1% alone.  He gives more than he would if the tax code crushed him.  Then, the government would get the money he gives to very good causes.  Then, the gov't spends it flyiing Obama all over the world on either his campaign or apology tour.

If he enjoy's a good drink - all the better.  But, guys in the business for 40 years who have never blown up are generally pretty steady, stable, smart and not greedy dudes.  We've all seen people in the market blow up, some more than once in a year.  He's got a good track record.

This is the United States, and the states elect the President. The national popular vote idea is a nefarious idea that should be interred. So what would be worse is that BO wins the electoral college, MR wqins the popular vote and BO says "see? I can fix this for you."

Without the electoral college, candidates would only position themselves and campaign in poulation centers, and candidates would have incentive to promise the population centers the moon and stars.

Franklin, Jefferson, Adams etc..  I'm more comfortable with their intellectual inventions than I am with Obama, Clinton, Romney, Bush, Reid, Pelosi etc...  Really anyone really want to get into comparing the intellects of the Founding Fathers versus the "Floundering Father's" of today?  State's rights are on life support for sure but doing away with Electoral College pulls the plug.  If that's what the country wants but not sure that's in the best interest unless of course you live on the coast.  Fly over states are done at that point.

It's a safe bet the EC is here to stay.  Think about how much trouble it'd be to reform the election process.  They'd have to amend the fucking Constitution.  Heh.

Forget about voting against someone and vote FOR someone, even if they are not on the corrupt, constrained menu!  Quit hitting yourself in the head, over and over again and expecting something different...or is it that you can't bring yourself to vote your convictions and just like to bitch about the same things year after year?

2. no gasoline

3. no hot coffee for breakfast

4. hang nail, hang dog, hanging chad, hank paulson

and rather than taking the issue to the supreme court, a number of voters take it to the streets?
