Gun Sales Surge: Smith & Wesson Announces Sales +48%
Via Mike Krieger of Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,
I have maintained for quite some time that the only true “consumer confidence” statistic one should look at is that of gun sales. The bottom line is people do not hoard guns when they are confident about the future of the country, and gun sales have never been better. More evidence emerged as Smith & Wesson just announced record financial results. From the company’s press released announced after the market close:
Net sales from continuing operations for the second quarter were a record$136.6 million, up 48.0% from the second quarter last year. The increase was led by continued strong sales across all of the company’s firearm product lines, including M&P™ branded products, such as pistols, modern sporting rifles, and the recently launched Shield™ pistol designed for concealed carry and personal protection.
Not only that, but they think the future is equally confident…for gun sales at least.
The company expects net sales from continuing operations for the third quarter of fiscal 2013 to be between$126.0 million and $131.0 million, which would represent year-over-year growth from continuing operations in excess of 30.0%. The company anticipates GAAP earnings per diluted share from continuing operations of between$0.19 and $0.21for the third quarter of fiscal 2013.
Perhaps this is why Bob Costas and Piers Morgan are running around the mainstream media bashing guns. The White House is totally freaked out about this and I guarantee you there will be a meeting about these results in D.C. shortly.

Fortunately "meetings in DC" don't mean shit.
Great blog Mike K!
The Second American Revolution, stocking up at a local gun shop near you.
Why is there no all gun ETF - I am talking about physical guns!
AUDA: Paper! Paper! There is no gold in Aqaba. No gold! No great box!
LAWRENCE: Did Auda come to Aqaba for gold?
AUDA: For my pleasure as you said, but gold is honourable, and Lawrence promised gold. Lawrence lied.
LAWRENCE: See, Auda. The Crown of England promises to pay five thousand golden guineas to Auda Abu Tayi, signed in His Majesty's absence, by...me. In ten days, I'll be back with the gold. With gold, with guns, with everything.
More of a Ruger guy myself, but SW makes a mighty fine gun too. Will get M&P shield 9mm when the CA approved ones finally show up in the local stores here. It can replace my Ruger handguns that I lost in that ocean kayaking mishap.
Kayaks and guns don't mix. Trust me, I know this one.
They don't take weight well, last time I had some silver, gold, and a couple rifles in one I lost it all down stream.
I'm actually confused by all of this. How are sales this strong, and for smith and wesson products above all? I don't currently own a single s&w product, but they made a damn good wheel gun at one point time.
Who hasn't purchased enough guns by now? I could have not purchased another gun after 08 and still be satisfied with my collection. I purchased one gun this year, a black HK rifle. I'm about to sell two guns, giving one of my unfired AR15 to my FIL for christmas, and plan to purchase three to five rifles next year, none of which are S&W
Main point I'm making, who is buying? I saw crazy hype in 08 like I had never seen. In winter 08/early spring 09 people where paying $4-500 for a sks, a gun I had a hard time paying $100 for. I sold a couple of black rifles for prices I would never pay to own such a rifle. Gun shows were crowded, people were paying $40+ a box for .380 ammo, and every idiot was buying a black rifle.
Who hasn't purchased enough guns by now?
Most gun owners do not know the definition of the word "enough." A good thing too.
Some of the nicest people are at gun shows. The guys who look at the knives are the ones who creep me out.
You can never have enough knives ;-)
nice,nm, lol fucking still l'g...
I'm not really a knife guy, I like my threats to be dealt with at a safe distance, no closer that twenty yards and preferably three hundred. I did however finally break down a buy a real nice two foot long machete. Two of them actually, one for each hand. Just in case I need to clear a path to my holster.......
Just bought my first "non cooking knife" the other day. Went for the classic Buck knife and it is a fine piece of craftmanship. Nothing too Rambo....yet.
Dawg, if you think you need more knives maybe what you really need is something bigger. Katana is nice for making things bleed. Scottish claymores have a nice feel, like you want to cut down a tree with one. I can recommend most any well-made ax for serious breaking of shitage, I wouldn't go up against a zombie horde with anything less.
Lots of interesting options with an edge.
My ancestors carried "Caladbolg"
Predecessor to Excalibir - and it could be argued that our "power sword" was stolen for symbolic and political reasons...

You can buy yourself one here...what the hell?

But Coug, no samuari went into battle or even sauntered down the street with just his katana. He always had a wakizahi to complement in the case of a close in fight. Different distances required different tools. And a tanto or three were also carefully placed somewhere.
I don't know a collector with anything other than one or four S&W wheel guns, but I do understand the not having enough. My tastes have evolved to a less is more, quality/quantity. I don't see a lot of the guns in the pawn shops I visit for sale new, aside from an occasional M&P handgun/concealed revolver. I've never seen one of thier ARs outside of a box store and know not one owner of one. My little brother a maybe five S&W guns, but his are older and the newest is a MP.40.
I do agree with the knife/sword guys though.
Apologies Freddie, I always pictured you fondling a machete as you typed.
While I'm here..... my handlers have instructed me to spread a rumor that gold "registration" will start on April 13, 2013.
Machetes work. I have a damn root saw knife thingy for cutting tree roots. It is sharp as hell and scary.

Look at FDR, Mugabe and Chavez. This guy is following them along with Adolph and Lenin/Stalin. Bank holidays, gold confiscation. I wish Americans had the balls those Egyptians had. Those poor bastards do not have any black rifles either.
I trust the Egyptian officer corps more than dicks like Petreaus, Colon Powell, Weasel Clark and that Gunny guy who voted for Obama. Pyle should have shot his ass twice in FMJ. Another lib there with vincent D'Orfornio. F***king Pentagon and Joint Chiefs are cowards.

Really? A great number of people I encounter at gun shows are mouth-breathing hicks who are barely literate and don't understand basic economics. I stopped attending the shows because the prices were crap and you can find better deals just online. I also stopped going because of the smell--those "nicest people" sure don't know how to bathe.
Sometimes you can get some good "cash" deals... That's why I still attend.
BO and mouth breathers, stay away from the sword booths. Bunch of neck bearded bastards at the last one I attended and people trying to trade x boxes for a handgun also. Weird crowd at gun shows.
We're going to the crossroads of the west gun show this weekend at Del Mar, primarily to pick up ammo. I cringe at the thought of the the cost, truly been shooting up recently. Everytime we go we have a blast; everyone is so friendly ( mr miffed teases me that the 10 to one ratio of men to women is the reason!). I'm just praying to get enough ammo before Obama shuts these shows down for "security" reasons. A lot of freedom loving people of all demographics are represented at gun shows.... wouldnt be good to have them mingle to much.
Miffed:-)
Always remember, an armed citizenry is a polite citizenry.
Locks are there to keep people honest, guns for when they decide not to be.
You should own at least 1,000 rounds per firearm.
That might be nice, but I don't see a need for more than a couple hundred of some cartridges.
The stuff I shoot often I would say 1000 rounds isn't near enough. I carry a .380 or .45. I only have a few boxes of .380 as I only shoot it a couple times a year. .22, .223, .45, 9mm, and 7.62x39/51 make up most my ammo, so I stock those. Stock what you shoot often. I've got a 44 revolver I deer hunt with and I only shoot it to kill a deer or three rounds to make sure the scope is still in sight, why keep 1k rounds.
To the gun show ammo buyer in cali, I would bet, depending on what you are looking for, that online would be your best bet. Ammoman is my favorite, but they are may others. I went to a gun show two weeks ago and the cheapest .45 could there was 25% off down at the wal mart by comparison. I haven't bought a single thing at a gun show since 07-08 excluding a manufacturer who sells ar uppers and is out of stock commonly.
barter
You are probably right pursueliberty. I have begged mr miffed to buy on line to save money. He is worried to make on line purchases of ammo for "security" reasons. Hell, he wouldnt speak to me for days for buying a firearm legally in CA. "registered" firearm in his world is not free. So if he wants any firearm I have to buy it because I'm already marked. I guess he doesn't feel any guilt by association.
Miffed:-)
Maybe now even the liberals are buying.
mod 19 4"(in glock too). my vote twice.
Fuck you Bob Costas and Piers Morgan.
Eeeh... Her friend has a better body.
This would be a great gun to own.

SWHC conference call was very bullish. Gun sales are booming!
I think that goes under the heading of... what will they think of next? or better still, do they even need to
sadly the PC police will be out in full force tomorrow - no media reports on it and someone will be paid to eat it and keep it down
ooo.. that would be fun with an auto sere and ports.
I'm too old to have had Transformers for toys, but that looks like it could make up for the missed experience.
Hot chicks with Guns. Yeah. I will put my gun in her hand.

Now...you might know what IT is.
You need to publish more of this.
Posters in this thread should be aware of GREEDY_FRAGILE, the new drone targeting algo. Watch this. Heard about the robots with tasers?
Anyhow: three drone links really worth reading. Homeland Security wants to double amount of domestic drones.
[Full Disclosure: I do not use automated software on ZH comments or in researching ZH topics, this is just for fun. Your fellow posters? CYA]
GREEDY_FRAGILE is probably a nod to the new book by Taleb, "AntiFragile".

'American' made assertion. 'Americans' have always piled on guns.
So it means they had no confidence in their future.
Nah.
'Americans' run a business of extortion of the weak, farming of the poor. Hence their natural interest in owning guns.
The environment is shrinking.
Natural reaction of extorters/farmers: increasing the stuff that backs their extortion/farming schemes as they know they will have to squeeze more from their extorted/farmed.
'Americans' are very confident in their future.
I'm a nice guy. Just don't like being told what to do by the US Government! Who's serving who around here.......? The only Public Servants I know of are the ones elected in Washington......535 Gang.

Recently Ive been researching potato guns for a laugh for new years. If the going gets tough dont forget the good old WD40 powered or air compressor powered potato gun but with a 3/8" bolt and nut, a handfull of 1" washers and 3 squirts of hairspray and built from some downpipe and a bbq ignitor. S&W got nuthin! That stuff will destroy 3 bricks at 100 yds. reload times a bit ordinary, but youtube yields some bolt action efforts and even a fully auto 600/min gun that shoots AAA batteries!
downunder we are loving the US Doomsday preppers, though with only a week or 2 to go we probably left our run a bit late. You americans and your guns... .. ... would be more family friendly if everyone stuck to katanas and gave up on the projectiles in the public interest.
S&W is a much better company now than it has been in the past 2 decades, but their revolvers include that stupid frame lock, which most people never use and many people take apart to permenantly deactivate.
I'm not even all that hot on their semi-autos. I wonder how Glock, Kimber, and Baretta are doing.
I'm sorry, what was the article about? Kept looking at the picture.
Pedophile.
"...from the second quarter last year"
Nuff said.

Take out the fear-mongering from Fox and AM radio talking heads and sales would be darn near flat.
