The US, in its own decline, is showing this same self-destructive tendency. The worse things get, the greater the inclination of the citizenry to say, “Carry on, everything’s fine.”

Mike Bloomberg Calls For Ban On Assault Weapons

Tyler Durden's picture

In the least unexpected news of the week, Mayor Mike, whose forays into central planning started with banning sugary sodas, and then proceeded to gas rationing, has just done what everyone expected him to do, and demand a ban on all assault weapons:

  • MAYOR BLOOMBERG CALLS FOR ENFORCEABLE ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN
  • MAYOR BLOOMBERG CALLS FOR PASSING GUNS CHECK ACT
  • MAYOR BLOOMBERG CALLS FOR MAKING GUN TRAFFICKING A FELONY
  • MAYORS AGAINST ILLEGAL GUNS TO SEND VIDEO STATEMENTS TO CONGRESS

We eagerly await the imminent escalation: the "taxable inhalable oxygen for those making over $250,000 - it's only fair act" to be proposed by Mayor Mike and his central-planning enamored brethren in D.C. next.

From AP:

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and dozens of shooting survivors and victims' relatives are calling on Congress and President Barack Obama to tighten gun laws and enforcement.

The mayor was appearing at City Hall Monday with 34 people whose own lives or the lives of their relatives have been affected by gun violence around the country. They're sending videos to lawmakers telling their stories.

Bloomberg has long been an advocate for tougher national gun regulations. He has found himself at the forefront of a re-energized push for gun control since Friday's massacre at a Connecticut elementary school.

He says the carnage "demands immediate national action."

Bloomberg makes comp;lete sense.

If you fear the police then you must be committing a crime?

I don't own a gun, lived in the absolute 'hood in Jackson Ward RVA when our murder rate was #1 per capita and never needed a gun.

Why does anyone need an assualt rifle?

Ferderal gun laws MUST BE ENFORCED.

There are more guns in this country than people.

If the gov't gets untenable the armed forces will protect the people from the gov't.

Think it through. How does a gun protect you from the gov't? It doesn't. That is what the army is for.

No reason to lose your head when your the one getting shit upon. It takes time. Bernanke has set a course for ultimate self destruct. Reading ZH today revealed in the treasury market " collapsing Indirect interest is persisting"

Sounds like treasury bonds are losing luster. If the cops don't get paid we get their guns. When the army doesn't get paid we get their guns.

It will take time and I am sure you want to live to see it. Wasting your resources on arms might not be the best allocation.

jmo.

Did you get you HuffPo bookmark messed up again?

Besides, if we're going to start enforcing centralized laws, how about the Galactic laws? Tell ya what... since I'm the Emperor of the MFing Galaxy (yes, that's really it's name, (thank Corzine)), I'll grant you an audience... well,  just as soon as you clear up that little incident concerning all of the back taxes you owe the MFGRS (after all, I can't be expected to entertain state criminals).

Oh, as for my title... well, perhaps you were apathetic on election day, that is assuming you even bothered to register AT ALL!

Hhmmm, that must be why Bloomberg has his own private security detail with the best assault weapons ben's jewbucks can buy.  Why does my public servant get to carry such weapons and be afforded such security.  If he has been such a good mayor in making sure laws were upheld his citizens should love him right?  Bullshit, while I agree that laws should be enforced, this fascism is sickening.  This guy presides of a den of fucking crimminals and he wants to disarm everybody?  Execute John Corzine and then let's talk.

Many of us have served our country.  Many went our own ways (with our guns and knowledge).  We keep in touch.  Many of the former Delta operatives I know make some great gear now.  We wait, we watch, patience.  Evil and cowardice always show themselves first.  Love and caring enough to actually make an honest fix requires real courage.  If the mayor wishes to continue to isolated his city, fine with me.  I will simply encourage those in agriculture like, myself, to do less business with this region.  All economies are local and blowback is a bitch.

When I wrote ***How does a gun protect you from the gov't? It doesn't. That is what the army is for.*****

I should have included veterans as well.

I too think Manhattan needs to be excommunicated from the Union so they may bear the cost of Wall Street's treachery. I'm sure an inordinate amount of tax dollars flows to NYNY so the bankers can maintain their high style while letting federal tax dollars take care of the rest of their infrastructure. I say lay siege and tax Manhattan, let them pay for their folly with their own money. Why should we be forced to pay for their criminal ways?

Chicago and San Francisco can be brought in line as well.

This whole Union business is not working out well. The ass clown who owns the house next to mine lives in another state and I can't compel him to follow the laws of my state to maintain his property. I say forget about the United part and let the States regain their sovereignty.

I don't see the Federal Gov't as anything other than oppression and usurping my property rights.

If we ever wage a just war, which actually defends the constitution, I will, then, thank you for your service. Until then I respect your opinion.

Bloomberg should stop his protection detail from carrying firearms.  His corporate security at Bloomberg LP should be prohibited from carrying firearms.  All guests to Bloomberg LP should be banned from carrying firearms as well, no matter how VIP they are.  Come on Bloomberg, be the example ....  /sarc/

I think we should cut to the root of the problem. It seems to me that all murders and most accidents occur when someone is MOVING. If we just forced everybody to sit in one place without MOVING, we could virtually eliminate death and violent crime.

Gun control supporters have the blood of little children on their hands. Federal and state laws combined to insure that no teacher, no administrator, no adult had a gun at the Newtown school where the children were murdered. This tragedy underscores the urgency of getting rid of gun bans in school zones. The only thing accomplished by gun free zones is to insure that mass murderers can slay more before they are finally confronted by someone with a gun.” – Larry Pratt, director Gun Owners Association of America

How many mass murders are there in police stations?

How many mass murders are there at a gun show?

You know why there are none. It would be suicide. Because most of the people there have a gun.

The banker-controlled media is going to talk about going after the guns as much as it can get away with. These people don’t care about lives. They care about restrictions on guns because they want restrictions on freedom. They know, like Lenin and Michael Bloomberg, that “One man with a gun can control a hundred without one.” They know that the current government is preparing, if necessary, to disarm those who would rebel against their encroaching police state. Bloomberg, with his $40 Million NYC surveillance operation who told his police officers that they should not protect Americans who oppose gun control, is the voice of the police state.

The enemy, the State, wants Americans defenseless. Keep your freedom by keeping your guns. And prepare to “Run to the sound of the guns.”

We can start with the NYPD. Come on, Mike. You can actually control that.

Is there a reason the NYPD trains their officers to use an M4 automatic machine gun? Is there a reason the "Elite Service Unit" of the NYPD is armed with these weapons? These people have obviously shown a pattern of anti-social and violent behavior with regards to their jobs. Some of them even have the homicidal God Complex.

Get back to us on this one, Mike. I'm sure you're ready to do your part to ban assault weapons.

Do NOT follow this link or you will be banned from the site!
