Foodstamp Recipients Hit Record, Alongside Record Dow Jones And Record Debt: 20% Of Eligible Americans On EBT

Tyler Durden's picture

Record Dow Jones, record US debt ($16,701,846,937,879.74), and now, once more, record number of Americans on foodstamps. According to the USDA, an all time high of 47,791,966 Americans closed 2012 in possession of the highly desired Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, managed by who else but JPMorgan. And with a civilian non-institutional population of 244.4 million in December, this means that a record 19.56% of eligible Americans are on Foodstamps.

In December an additional 109,924 Americans became reliant on foodstamps for their poverty-level needs, bringing the total to 47.8 million.

Number of US households on foodstamps: also a record of 23.1 million, with the average monthly benefit of $277.09.

And as a percentage of the total civilian non-institutional population.

Record wealth effect for the 1%, foodstamps for the poorest 20%, and a middle class on the verge of extinction. How is this possible and what happens next? Read Dylan Grice's piece posted earlier for all the answers.

"I mean if they really want a recovery they just need to have the Treasury send everyone $75,000 a year in salary for being a citizen. I mean, the banks get free jizz and they aren't even human beings (oh wait, the Supine Court says they are "individuals")."

Bettter get more Border Patrol on the borders if you do this...or you will have 2 billion extras walking over to get their well deserved freebies too..they will demand it ..and they will vote illegally of course.....should be good for the economy...and guns and ammo to the moon...

Just a reminder to everybody, this is government data. As we all know, dividers or multipliers have to be applied in order to get to a truthful number.

So, if unemployement is stated to be 7.7%, we all know it's at least 11%, so 50% multiplier (averagely).

By applying 50% to 48 million, we get to a truthful 70 million americans on food stamps.

Anything wrong with my math?

i would lke to add, if all shit fell apart there would be an increase in employment. meaning we are not lazy incompetent people. we would all find something to do. if it was a complete back melt down{ hopefully} we "people"would organise over night and a lotf us would have a job purely on our own natural given rights to move forward. we are americans and we would set an example to the whole world   we would reject the globe banks offer as all doom flashed on our tv sets and realize it is us i can go on but i think it is up to all of us to allow evolovtion to take hold here with the understanding that we like fucking as 7 billion

That was supposed to be funny, but it was actually depressing when I typed it.

The Department of Homeland Security has purchased 1.4 billion rounds of ammunition- that is not a typo -- during the last six months. This includes 450 million rounds of  .40 hollow point, 200 million rounds of .223 rifle ammunition, and 176,000 rounds of .308 168-grain hollow point boat tail (HPBT) that is used almost exclusively as ammo for sniper rifles

(actually they do, i think. it has been reported that first of the month jumps in the stock indexes reflect contributions to 401Ks driven by food stamps. we got the food paid for honey, might as well buy some AAPL - or head down to the Indian Casino)

63 ill after eating at 'world's best restaurant'

COPENHAGEN - Danish restaurant Noma, crowned the world's best restaurant three years running in one poll, on Friday apologized after 63 guests fell ill with sickness and diarrhea after visiting the haute cuisine establishment.

According to the Danish health authorities, the guests fell ill during a five-day period in February and the outbreak could have come from a sick kitchen staff employee.

Allow me. Government needs to print, moar, now, or the economy will continue to stagnate. But thank heavens we have a social safety net for the poor, and that they are taking advantage of these wonderful programs. You see, to liberals, massive welfare programs are an indication that the state is doing it's job well, buying off, err, helping out the poor, who are poor because of ... evil corporations and religious Christians and doomer libertarians and not enough regulation, and too little government/credit creation. It is axiomatic, for them, that there are always lots of people in need of social services, and that it's the government job to provide them; so they are happy when it does, and morally indignant when it does not. The underlying issue of structural poverty/disadvantage is a given. Should I keep talking in circles?

This is what it all looks like just before the end of a fiat ponzi. The people that got us here are arming them selves to the teeth, patriots jailed for blowing the whistle, laws quickly written to protect the guilty, end of protections under the bill of rights, smart money leaving the country, police becoming brutal and unaccountable. All these things are accelerating

If a family after Two generations on welfare become systemically unemployable and Are unsupportable, this is what happens. a family of welfare more than two generations should start having large families if they cannot support their children. Why should the public support A failed breeding experiment gone bad.
