We Have Discovered The Boom! Record Jobs For Those Who Make Stuff Up

Tyler Durden's picture

In what may be the most appropriate chart to summarize not only the entire US "recovery", the "all time high stock market" and the daily newsflow, we present the number of jobs for those in the motion picture and sound recording industries, i.e, those who "make stuff up." It just hit a record high. And with "circus" jobs at all time highs, we can only assume jobs for makers of bread, if the BLS actually broke it out, would be off the charts as well. We will just leave it at that.

Speaking of making stuff up, watching Bloomberg right now and the attack on bitcoin is on, Anyone who used bitcoin is a drug dealer because it is unregulated. They said that since you have no central bank controlling bitcoin it is very dangerous. They also equated gold and cash being bad but credit cards good.

Thank you Bloomberg for that public safety announcement.

McMolotov's picture

See? What'd I say yesterday? If bitcoin is decentralized, it's dangerous — that's the meme that will be employed because it's the simplest and the sheep respond to fear. But bitcoin is perfectly fine with the authorities as long as it's handled by them because it offers the ultimate form of capital controls.

There will be a slow demolition of the traditional banking system, and paying for stuff with physical cash will become a thing of the past. You want anonymity? We'll all be stuck exchanging shit under a bridge at 2 in the morning.

I, for one, welcome our new electronic currency overlords...

While the notion of a currency not tethered to manipulative central banks and sleezy governments is nice and worthy, it should now be clear that bitcoin isn't the answer.  Back to the drawing board to find something that won't swing wildly at the whim of every 14-year old with an army of zombie-bots.

I'm still waiting for an "honest politician" to expose the cabal by leaking their filmed political career. I'm holding out hope that there's ONE insider with intergrity and fear of God, who's using advanced tech to record EVERY meeting they have with lobbyists and their colleagues. What a show that would be!

I think it is time we stopped discussing the unemployment rate while ignoring the inactive population.

It's time we moved, partly as an act of protest and partly as an act of truthiness, to a new statistic:  Employment Rate.

Employment Rate = # of employed/population

I think this would show the real trends better--the move to two-income families, and now the hollowing out of the entire economy.

They need to do a better job of it. No one is buying it.

Olympus has Fallen is a prime example of how stupid they think people are.

Globalists will not protect the US of A and therefore the United States of America is being forced into secession. Long live the revolution.

Hollywood is tanking financially.

Two issues:  Original/"big hit" content   AND   online / dvd/bluray sales.

This industry is hypersensitive to making all the right moves - to the point that they have choked the life out of themselves.

So now actors write cookbooks, make salad dressing, create clothing lines, are mouthpieces for socialist causes.....because their day jobs are done.

And, why not, former United States Senator Chris Dodd is a Hollywood lobbyist for the Motion Picture Association of America? In fact, he’s MPAA’s Chief Executive. And the motion picture industry, financed by banks controlled by men who have a lot of political influence, long has been given better treatment than the lowly citizen or small businessman by Congress.

The mix of  Hollywood tax perks covering the 2013-1014 fiscal year alone will cost taxpayers an additional $430 million a year for Hollywood through “special expensing rules” to (again!) encourage TV and film production in the United States.  Producers can expense up to $15 million of costs for their projects. (Provision Section 181)

At the same time, California recently gave $100 million in tax rebates to Hollywood film makers. In addition the state “provides a 20% to 25% tax credit for certain production costs on low-to-mid-budget movies and TV shows that meet other criteria.” Most other states give Hollywood "incentives" also.

Said the LA Times in January: "It's not clear how effective the incentive has been. Film and television production continues to migrate to foreign cities, including Vancouver, Canada, and London, because of the stronger film tax breaks available there.  And while production in the U.S. has increased dramatically in the last decade, most of that has been attributed to various state tax incentive programs.

“Nonetheless, the federal credit extension was strongly backed by the Motion Picture Assn of America,” i.e., Chris Dodd… i.e.,  Congress.
