Is Obama Lying About Big Brother?

Tyler Durden's picture

As of this moment, Obama is making the case that the US government is not eavesdropping on phone calls. Specifically, he said "nobody is listening to your phone calls - they are just looking at phone numbers and duration of calls" and concluded that the NSA was only engaged in "modest encroachments." It was unclear if that clarification was meant to put to rest fears that Big Brother has made personal privacy a thing of the past. He further went on to add that the telephone surveillance program is fully vetted by Congress and supervised by the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA). In other words: Obama is making the case that the NSA's Big Brother supervision is perfectly legal and not only that, there are checks and balances and neither the telephonic snooping nor the internet supervision is anything to be concerned about.  There is one problem: Obama is lying.

Back in April 2009, three months into the Obama regime, none other than the NSA admitted it has overstepped its legal boundaries. As the NYT reported: "The National Security Agency intercepted private e-mail messages and phone calls of Americans in recent months on a scale that went beyond the broad legal limits established by Congress last year, government officials said in recent interviews. "

NYT goes on:

Several intelligence officials, as well as lawyers briefed about the matter, said the N.S.A. had been engaged in “overcollection” of domestic communications of Americans. They described the practice as significant and systemic, although one official said it was believed to have been unintentional.

The Justice Department, in response to inquiries from The New York Times, acknowledged Wednesday night that there had been problems with the N.S.A. surveillance operation, but said they had been resolved.

As part of a periodic review of the agency’s activities, the department “detected issues that raised concerns,” it said. Justice Department officials then “took comprehensive steps to correct the situation and bring the program into compliance” with the law and court orders, the statement said. It added that Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. went to the national security court to seek a renewal of the surveillance program only after new safeguards were put in place.

The same Eric Holder who is currently being investigated for perjury before congress. As for "compliance" 4 years later it seems nothing has changed.

As for Obama's clear conscience:

The legal and operational problems surrounding the N.S.A.’s surveillance activities have come under scrutiny from the Obama administration, Congressional intelligence committees and a secret national security court, said the intelligence officials, who spoke only on the condition of anonymity because N.S.A. activities are classified. Classified government briefings have been held in recent weeks in response to a brewing controversy that some officials worry could damage the credibility of legitimate intelligence-gathering efforts.

Well thank god the most transparent administration held classified briefings to discuss the biggest government espionage program ever conceived. One may have gotten ideas otherwise...

Finally, on Obama's pinky swear that it is only foreigners' emails and iMessages that are being intercepted, turns out he is lying here too:

In recent weeks, the eavesdropping agency notified members of the Congressional intelligence committees that it had encountered operational and legal problems in complying with the new wiretapping law, Congressional officials said.

Officials would not discuss details of the overcollection problem because it involves classified intelligence-gathering techniques. But the issue appears focused in part on technical problems in the N.S.A.’s ability at times to distinguish between communications inside the United States and those overseas as it uses its access to American telecommunications companies’ fiber-optic lines and its own spy satellites to intercept millions of calls and e-mail messages.

And so on.

In short: what difference does it make - it is only the stripping of the most fundamental privacy rights of US citizens! And how else can you build a totalitarian government if you don't give up some freedoms - good heavens, one can't ask the poor president to provide 100% security without experiencing some "inconvenience" and handing over a little privacy. Or a lot.

In the end, let's not forget what really matters: the NSA spying program is from the government, and it is here to help you.

* * *

Finally, here is Matt Damon explaining why he wouldn't work for the NSA:

I absolutely HATE Verizon.  When we moved out of state and I had to cancel the phone service, they charged me with a whopping cancellation fee.  When I called in to get it fixed, some charming guy at their call center told me he took care of it.  Only he didn't, because I kept getting bills.  Further call had the same tap dance and same results.  They then screwed my FICO score.

Phuck you Verizon!

Yeah, I recently switched to a mom and pop carrier, I figured I didn't need all that total information awareness shit on my phone since I didn't use it. My bill went from 100+ bucks to 40. Be careful when switching carriers though I made the mistake with T-Mobile, and they had my bank information and when I left they gouged me for 200+ bucks. I had to fight tooth and nail to get it back, over one and one half years later I finally got the money back. Make sure you delete any kind of saved payment details from your account before you drop their rangy asses.

The idea is you use your phone to connect to the net to make an encrypted call to you friend who also has the service.

How much of a pathological liar is Obama? Consider this:

For 17 years, Obama's OFFICIAL literary bio listed Kenya as his birthplace. This is the bio that preceded every introduction of Obama at a speech, or other function where he was formally introduced. He read it, and he approved it before it was posted on his agent's website. This fact is VERY well documented.

When he ran for the US Senate in 2006, his official AP bio story listed Kenya as his birthplace. You can read it for yourself on the web. He - and all his top campaign aides participated in the input of information about him, and he and they all read the story - without any objection whatsoever.

His bio birthplace was changed the following April after he decided to run for president. That means he has publicly claimed Kenya as his birthplace far, far, longer than he has claimed the US.

Only one of two conclusions can be arrived at:

1) He was born in America, and lied about being born in Kenya as a matter of substantiating his claims for foreign student loans and the cachet of being a black African (pathological liar, still fighting the inner-shame of being half white so he makes himself African black), or

2) He was born in Kenya just as he claimed in his bio, and only changed it to America in order to be able to run for president (again you would have to be a pathological liar to do that shamelessly).

The MSM has turned a blind eye to the reality that if someone white told the same lie for either rationalization, that white would be laughed out of politics as a full-blown whack job.

But the Black Racist MSM is just as sickeningly pathological in its lying. Thus, they bury it, just as they are burying the question of "Where, and from whom, did the YouTube video excuse come from - and who inserted it into the Obama rationalization for Libya?"

Regardless, the birth lies are enough to judge Obama psychotically sociopathic and a pathological liar.

So, how much of a pathological liar is Obama . . .?

Yes you do, but the agreements you signed require you to deny its existence.

"We do not disclose user information to government agencies without a court order, subpoena or formal legal process"

FISC is the legal process, and since they rubber-stamp 99.99% of all warrant requests, this statement is meaningless.

"...nor do we provide any government agency with access to our servers."

Wow, I'm almost surprised Gizmodo is this dumb.

  1. NSA is not DoD.  They don't interact much.
  2. None of these documents talks about PRISM.  Very little of it (save maybe crypto.me's log of complaints about outing INSA members) has anything to do with the NSA.
  3. The NetOps stuff has nothing to do with PRISM: NetOps basically describes an integrated IT department/helpdesk of the various territories and fiefdoms of the grunts/squids/leathernecks, while PRISM is for the preternatrually pale information-vampires.  The former are trying to keep a network running for a bunch of cowboys who spend half their time thinking that they're GIJoe and the other half shoving newly-found, Iranian-made USB drives into every available slot on anything issued by the gubmint because they're exactly the sort of people who look into the laser with their remaining eye.  The latter already read your e-mail this morning long before you had your coffee, because they're far more efficient than you.  There is no overlap between those two groups, their projects, or their abilities.
  4. NetOps is pretty well-known publicly.  It has its own Wikipedia Page. There are more recent versions of the NetOps Strategic Vision available.
  5. Seriously, leaking the DoD's IT-nerd buzzword cheat-sheet?  Wow, now we know what "agile" and "consumer" and "XML" mean.  Leverage that synergy, baby.

so you have no problem with the gov opening letters and reading them? after all, if it were that important, you wouldn't have put it in an envelope only made of paper, and should have used a private courier to hand deliver it.

it may be technically feasible, and even easy to read emails or log phone calls, but unless they've hit "send all", the users intent is for the message to be a private communication.

and do you really think that the guys who wrote the constitution would be okay with the gov creating minut catalogues of every single person you speak with, when, and for how long?

Purely in case the heap of French-made shit breaks down in the middle of nowhere. It's still got £4.88 of the credit it came with. I used it once to dial the house phone, just to make sure it works.

Somewhere in every conversation say something like "Mohammed just called and says the bomb is in place." If every ZH reader did this every call, every day - and especially if the idea went viral - it would be more effective than a denial of service attack.

If these intelligence agencies and so-called 'Homeland Security' actually had a record of intercepting real attacks instead of blowing up wedding parties with drones then neither I nor most other Americans would want to see them brought to their knees. But all I see is little old ladies being felt up by dykes and cretins in white shirts at the airport. So, screw all the spooks. These agencies are probably also thoroughly penetrated by the very foreign organizations they are pretending to guard against. Aldrich Ames, etc.

That penis sucking Nazionist Bonesman, aka George HW Bush made sure they got rid of the Checks & Balances in the 1980's*.  And Reagan was too fucking clueless, being the Usefool Tool that he was.  The public was sold on a re-packaged and re-branded version, called "Deregulation".  They should give Reagan an Oscar, posthumously.  The best and most convincing role he ever played.  Dumb sheep!

* It was Deregulation that led to the Wall St boom of the 90s, and had NOTHING to do with Clinton's policies or 'skills'.  Bush and the Neocons were pissed that their deregulation allowed Clinton to take the credit and glory for the Wall St boom in the 90s.  Clinton was not supposed to have been elected, per their Neocon/NWO agenda.  That's why they worked so tirelessly to get him out.  Enter Lewinsky (who had an affair with a married man before and should have been kept away from the "President-with-weakness-for-new-pussy" by the Secret Service, but wasn't).  The rest you know.

My suspicion is that a good chunk of the super-snooper policies that are now ubiquitous in the US, UK and most European countries is about stamping out black/grey market money making. Not that they really give a fuck how you earn your living, but not paying tax the house's cut (i.e as much of it as they can work out ways to take off you) on it is just not fucking cricket, old boy!

.

just watch v for vendetta over the weekend.

I recently watched They Live on DVD, having not seen it in over 20 years.

I remember that when it came out in the 80s, it was set in a dystopian late 1990s future. At the time, it was hard to conceive that things would ever get as bad as portrayed in the film.

Nevertheless, the setting established by the first fifteen minutes looks eerily similar to current events.

I found the script in two parts of the film disquietingly familiar. The following words are from the first fifteen minutes.

The blind preacher:

They use their tongues to deceive. The venom of snakes is under their lips, and their mouths are full of bitterness and curses. And in their paths, nothing but ruin and misery. And the fear of God is not before their eyes. They have taken the hearts and minds of our leaders. They have recruited the rich and the powerful, and they have blinded us to the truth.

Our human spirit is corrupted. Why do we worship greed? Because, outside the limit of our sight, feeding off us, perched on top of us from birth to death, are our owners, our owners. They have us, they control us, they are our masters. Wake up. They're all about you, all around you.

The guy on TV when the regular broadcast is overridden:

They have created a repressive society and we are their unwitting accomplices. Their intention to rule rests with the annihilation of consciousness. We have been lulled into a trance. They have made us indifferent to ourselves, to others. We are focused only on our own gain.

Please understand, they are safe as long as they are not discovered. That is their primary method of survival - keep us asleep, keep us selfish, keep us sedated. They are dismantling the sleeping middle class. More and more people are becoming poor. We are their cattle. We are being bred for slavery.

The second part that seemed familiar is toward the end. These words were spoken by one of the humans who had sold out to Them:

You still don't get it, do you, boys? There ain't no countries anymore, no more good guys. They're running the whole show! They own everything, the whole goddamned planet, they can do whatever they want!

Presciently, the film also includes flying surveillance drones. I don't want to spoil the ending for those who've never seen it. Let me just finish by saying that you owe it to yourself to see They Live.

My impression is that people of this kind are mainly interested in kiddy porn, incest, rape and brutal domination sex - plays to their control freak nature, since none of the above are about sexual gratification, except peripherally. They see themselves as cowboys and we are their herd. What difference does it make to the herd if they know what we are doing and saying? Ask FORMER General Petraeus. They likely had the goods on him and used them when he got squishy on Libya or some other issue.

Dennis Miller (comedian and talk show host) yesterday revealed that he has no problem with them listening in...cuz he has done nothing wrong and they are protecting us. With guys like that on our side we are doomed.

I attended a Data Security Conference earlier this year in which a vendor demonstrated an off-the-shelf product available to corporate IT departments. It archives all data running through a corporate system, including VOIP (voice) calls made over corporate telephone systems.

To retrieve and listen to the content of a specific call, you just do a google-like search, identify one of the participants, the date/time, etc. Then click on the file. The actual telephone call content (what is actually spoken) plays back.

So is the government telling us that it's not been using that same technology to archive the content of all phone calls made over these networks? And have them available to listen to, should the "need" arise? Seems hard to believe, given the existing technology to do just that.

They promise it is only to be used on terrorists.

And, if ten years from now, the I.R.S. decides to audit you, they may need to pull some of those records to see what you were talking about, and if you bought or sold any Gold or Silver.

Since you are under suspicion, your ex.-Wife and her lawyer will request some of your emails and phone calls to resolve your alimony/child support/custody case.  The Department of Child and Family services will get access too.

When you apply for a job with Corporation XYZ, they will be allowed to search your correspondence to make sure you are not a threat to national security, especially if they are a bank.

The neighbor you are having a dispute with over your property line and that fence will accuse you of being a child molester who threatened him with a firearm, so the police will have access to any communications and gun/ammo purchases.

All for your own safety of course, and to preserve the "freedom" and "liberty" of living in the the U.S.A., and "for the children".

Who's watching
Tell me, who's watching
Who's watching me

I'm just an average man,
With an average life.
I work from nine to five
Hey, hell, I pay the price!
All I want is to be left alone,
In my average home,
But why do I always feel,
Like I'm in the twilight zone!

And (I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
And I have no privacy
Whooooa-oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Tell me, is it just a dream!

When I come home at night,
I bolt the door real tight.
People call me on the phone,
I'm trying to avoid.
But can the people on TV see me,
Or am I just paranoid!

When I'm in the shower,
I'm afraid to wash my hair,
'Cause I might open my eyes,
And find someone standing there!
People say I'm crazy,

Just a little touched,
But maybe showers remind me,
Of Psycho too much!

That's why(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
And I have no privacy
Whooooa, oh-oh
(I always feel like)
(Somebody's watching me)
Who's playin' tricks on me

[Instrumental Interlude]

(Who's watching me)
I don't know anymore
Are the neighbors watching me?
(Who's watching)
Well, is the mailman watching me?
(Tell me, who's watching)
And I don't feel safe anymore?
Oh, what a mess......
I wonder who's watching me now?
(Who)

(Washington, D.C., June 7, 2013). Today, Larry Klayman, the founder of Judicial Watch and Freedom Watch, a former U.S. Justice Department prosecutor, and himself a user of Verizon, filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, over the massive illegal seizure of phone records by the Obama administration's National Security Agency. Joined as defendants in the suit, which primarily is based on violations of the 1st, 4th, and 5th amendments to the U.S. Constitution, are President Barack Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, the U.S. Justice Department, Director Keith B.
