U.S. Government’s Secret Move To Hide Files On The Osama Bin Laden Raid

The Osama Bin Laden raid was suspect from the very beginning. Not only were key initial descriptions of the assault completely incorrect (such as him being armed and his wife being killed), but the manner in which his body was rapidly tossed into the ocean was beyond bizarre. I mean, Tony Soprano keeps a body longer than that.
Well it seems the “most transparent administration ever” has made sure that the American public never receives any information beyond the propaganda of Zero Dark Thirty. From the Associated Press:
WASHINGTON (AP) — The nation’s top special operations commander ordered military files about the Navy SEAL raid on Osama bin Laden’s hideout to be purged from Defense Department computers and sent to the CIA, where they could be more easily shielded from ever being made public.
The secret move, described briefly in a draft report by the Pentagon’s inspector general, set off no alarms within the Obama administration even though it appears to have sidestepped federal rules and perhaps also the Freedom of Information Act.
But secretly moving the records allowed the Pentagon to tell The Associated Press that it couldn’t find any documents inside the Defense Department that AP had requested more than two years ago, and could represent a new strategy for the U.S. government to shield even its most sensitive activities from public scrutiny.
McRaven’s directive sent the only copies of the military’s records about its daring raid to the CIA, which has special authority to prevent the release of “operational files” in ways that can’t effectively be challenged in federal court. The Defense Department can prevent the release of its own military files, too, citing risks to national security. But that can be contested in court, and a judge can compel the Pentagon to turn over non-sensitive portions of records.
The AP asked the Defense Department and CIA separately for files that included copies of the death certificate and autopsy report for bin Laden as well as the results of tests to identify the body. While the Pentagon said it could not locate the files, the CIA, with its special power to prevent the release of records, has never responded. The CIA also has not responded to a separate request for other records, including documents identifying and describing the forces and supplies required to execute the assault on bin Laden’s compound.
McRaven’s unusual order would have remained secret had it not been mentioned in a single sentence on the final page in the inspector general’s draft report that examined whether the Obama administration gave special access to Hollywood executives planning a film, “Zero Dark Thirty,” about the raid. The draft report was obtained and posted online last month by the Project on Government Oversight, a nonprofit watchdog group in Washington.
The refusal to make available authoritative or contemporaneous records about the bin Laden mission means that the only official accounts of the mission come from U.S. officials who have described details of the raid in speeches, interviews and television appearances. In the days after bin Laden’s death, the White House provided conflicting versions of events, falsely saying bin Laden was armed and even firing at the SEALs, misidentifying which of bin Laden’s sons was killed and incorrectly saying bin Laden’s wife died in the shootout. Obama’s press secretary attributed the errors to the “fog of combat.”

Well, I certainly have no idea what the deal really was with Mr. bin Laden, or if he really existed in the first place. I tend to believe he did, because I've read Robert Fisk's account of meeting him, and agree with Mr. Fisk or not, he seems to be a real reporter.
What I really note from all of this is how shitty the CIA's retirement plan is. Noriega, Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden, any number of Southeast Asian or South or Central American potentates; same story. The CIA may pay fairly well in the eyes of a low-end thug, but by the time said thug gets to the upper levels, the pay is unacceptably low, and you can't quit, and the opt-out is, shall we say, murder.

I have one of my sponsors is supporting a move with a petition to help the doctor who helped the US capture Bin Laden, he was the DNA man what confirmed it was him before the raid and basically talked the group into a scenario to where a sample was derived. Today he sites in a Pakistani jail with no help from the US, kind of sad in the fact that we haven't don't something to help him get out of jail. He was tossed in jail after the raid. There are two things about the OBL raid that bother me. First, why no photographs of his dead body? The whole world knows what he looks like? Second, why get rid of his body so quickly?
Using ocam's razor to answer both questions, it seem likely the answer is because the body wasn't OBL.
Also, if he was alive all of this time, how come he never did any more of his famous videos? He was a meglomaniac who loved to push his agenda. For him to hide away and keep his mouth shut all of those years makes no sense to me.
My guess is that he died sometime shortly after 911, when his videos stopped.
And isn't it convenient that many of the raiders died in a helicopter crash very soon after the raid?

Our Navy SEALs must not be very bright to perform a raid on a man already dead. But then I listen to Jesse Ventura talk, and I have a better understanding of a SEAL's level of intelligence. I guess Navy SEALs are just rednecks who can swim.

The Denver Post, on February 15th, ran an Associated Press article entitled Homeland Security aims to buy 1.6b rounds of ammo, so far to little notice.
It confirmed that the Department of Homeland Security has issued an open purchase order for 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition.
As reported elsewhere, some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers.
Also reported elsewhere, at the height of the Iraq War the Army was expending less than 6 million rounds a month.
Therefore 1.6 billion rounds would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years. In America.

No matter what anyone says, you have to hand it to whoever prepared and backed Obama for President. He convinced a majority at home and he had the rest of the world including the Nobel Committee believing that he would deliver peace and change.
The choice of Obama was tactical and nothing else. Nothing was meant to be delivered to the people of the US or the world of any substance.
I also believe that it is of no relevance as to whether or not it was Osama that they shot that night and buried at sea. The people of the US and the rest of the world are far more suspicious and angry about so many other matters of greater importance that this is now just a side show.

The Pakistani report on the Bin Laden raid was just made public. It appears as though someone leaked it to al Jazeera, although this is not clear.
The 300+ page report details the who-shot-who-when as seen through the eyes of the survivors. While difficult to tell if it is accurate, it is at least internally consistent which is more than most reports on the issue.
The report, incidently, was written by senior Pakistsani officials (including the military) and it is massiviely critical of the government of Pakistan at nearly every level. What a refreshing concept - a government report that says the government really messed up bad....
