Goodbye Larry Kudlow Report

Tyler Durden's picture

In a surreal and deja vu-ish turn of events, three days ago we reported that in parallel with the ongoing collapse in CNBC viewership, the ratings of some of its shows namely Jim Cramer's Mad Money and Larry Kudlow's Report had just hit all time lows.

This was met with an immediate response by Larry Kudlow himself who, alongside Groundhog Phil-fodder Joe LaVorgna, decided to take Zero Hedge to task for reporting that part-time jobs are not really full-time jobs and invited us over to their show to explain how dare we point out the weakness in the manipulated BLS datadump. We were kind enough to remind Mr. Kudlow that the last time someone from CNBC "invited" us over, i.e., Dennis "Digital Dickweed" Kneale, their show was promptly cancelled. To wit: "While we appreciate the offer, the last thing we intend to do is suffer Mr. Kudlow the same fate as that experienced by his predecessor Dennis Kneale who also invited Zero Hedge on his laughable excuse for a show in 2009, only to be sacked a few months later." Make it two for two as irony strikes again.

The NY Post reports that Kudlow's show is over.

CNBC is close to bagging former CBS News anchor Harry Smith for a new talk show, which is almost certain to replace “The Kudlow Report” at 7 p.m., The Post has learned.

Smith is already signed to NBCUniversal.

“If we could figure out a way to utilize his skills to serve our very affluent and highly educated audience I’m sure we’d be interested,” said a CNBC spokesman.

“The Kudlow Report” is off roughly 60 percent in its key 25- to 54-year-old target audience.

Next up: we expect an "invite" from Jim Cramer.

I think that ABC-Yahoo has her in a dungeon somewhere. The best way to shut her up was to hire her and have her sign an exclusivity contract. She was just too damaging to the MSM on Capital Account.

It is really sad that she fell for it. By the time this meltdown happens she will be forgotten. But she was a young kid and easily distracted.

I agree with all the posters here how are now glad to see this harpy have a wooden stake driven through its heart.

I stopped watching this joker after the continuous grind that the stock market was a great investment, Burnanke could do no wrong, and there was no depression but only recovery going on in this country . . . oh yes . . . and there really was no "real" inflation or unemployment in this country.

Glad to see this joker being sent back to the Hamptons with his elitists friends reside.  Any poster on this site has more intelligence in their little finger, than this dead head.   John

It's really a shmae.  Larry used to be an interesting thinker.  King dollar and all that.  He was a voice of reason, and sometimes I used to enjoy his optimism (me being a pessimist at heart financially.) After that stint in rehab he re created himself and was doing good work.  Well sometime around 10 years ago he decided the path of least resistance was to suck the balls of his superiors and sell out any original thought he might have had.  Well obviously that pleased his masters and they used him until they did not need him anymore.  They can find a younger, fresher face to lick their taints now.  Remember ... we all must conform!

Wait, isn't Ludlow a "Republican"?  You'd think he'd celebrate the news from ZeroHedge and take the data to hammer Obama.  ZH, who despite being a mostly Libertarian blog, actually does this thing that CNBC doesn't: report these things called "facts" (which are not partisan).

The Big Money in this country should just start a NeoLiberal Fascist party already and stop with the "Just the Tip" approach.  Show some balls you fucking assholes.

Next up: we expect an "invite" from Jim Cramer.

They'll never can him; he's a staple of the station.  They might change the format of his show, maybe have a celebrity co-host or something......but the day they can Cramer, will tell us all that not only is CNBC in trouble, but it will point ot signs that the NeoCorporate Fascist financial system might (finally) collapse.

Kudlow was a master at the well practised strategy used at CNBC of cutting off the conversation of anyone who tries to speak the truth about the markets. In a seven minute segment Kudlow would talk for 3, the bullish guest(s) would get 2 minutes, the realist guest would get 30 seconds before being shouted over, Kudlow and the bullish guest(s) would then mock the bearish guest, the bearish guest would get 15 seconds to fight back, then Kudlow would cut to a commercial. Same pattern as most CNBC shows.

I will never forget I was in an airport in Atlanta talking to this guy who was a republican. Kudlow was on. He said that he was at a seminar with him as the speaker and that Kudlow was so extreme and so far to the right that he literally had to get up and leave. He couldn't take it. I never watched Kudlow a second after that.

Is/was Kudlow a neocon? He went from being an extreme leftist liberal to an extreme right winger over-night when he joined up with Ronald Reagan.

From wiki:

"Known as "Kuddles" to friends, he was a star on the tennis team and a member of the left-wing SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) at Rochester. In 1970, Kudlow joined Joseph Duffey's "New Politics" senatorial campaign in Connecticut. Duffey was a leading anti-war politician during the Vietnam war era. Kudlow, working with Yale student Bill Clinton as well as many other rising young Democrats, was known as a "brilliant" district coordinator. In 1971, Kudlow attended Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, where he studied politics and economics.

Kudlow began his career as a staff economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He worked in a division of that bank that handled open market operations, which involve buying and selling bonds to help control inflation and interest rates. In 1970--still a Democrat--Kudlow worked on the U.S. Senate campaign of Joseph Duffey, along with Bill Clinton, John Podesta, and Michael Medved, another future conservative, and in 1976 he worked on the U.S. Senate campaign of Daniel Patrick Moynihan, along with Tim Russert, against Conservative Party incumbent James L. Buckley, brother of William F. Buckley, Jr.[5]

During the first term of the Reagan administration (1981–1985), Kudlow was associate director for economics and planning in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), which belongs to the Executive Office of the President."

Good Riddance!

I remember watching his show once or twice, just to see if I was missing something and wow did I get a quick education about financial media. Kudlow was supposed to be one of the "good guys." Well I found out real quick that it was the same shit with a different face.

He can take his green shoots and stuff them up his and NBC management's asses. Many other comments but what would be the point? NBC exists to propagandise and indoctrinate the masses, especially when if comes to protecting their interests and retirements. Their background colour should be red with hammer and sickle highlights and would be if they were honest.

WHO exactly watches CNBC because they need and expect accurate information anyway?  Everyone even slightly clued in knows the market no longer operates on fundamentals and is completely rigged.  I'm sure the 80% of transactions daily coming from HFT don't depend one iota on CNBC.  CNBC should rename itself to CPCC (Centrally Planned Crony Capitalism) network and just broadcast speeches by Bernanke and his kind.
