"The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from all the oligarchies of the past, in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just round the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power."

Not funny, Boris. Wasn't then, and even less so now. Neither is it even remotely factual:

Of course it wasn't factual. Palin is nowhere near voluptuous. I'm not saying I wouldn't hit it, but I'd want to keep her mouth full the entire time in case she said something stupid and ruined the moment.

Funny. She might want the same thing of you.

You know what else is funny?

From what I know about her, and what I know about you, I can't help but wonder if you might actually be the one more likely to 'ruin the moment'. I mean, I'm not really a femnist or anything, but even so, saying something like, "I need to stick my dick in [it's] mouth so I don't have to listen to [it] speak" is not very romantic at all, really.

Oh, wait. I get it ... which one of those people in the video ... is you?

Good points, Scout. Acceptable discourse today is certainly more narrow and agenda serving. The current wave of political correctness is mostly about mind control. An image is racist, and a murder is significant, only when the White House Press Secretary says so. So the brown on white hate, or the black on white murder, goes unreported, because they don't support the overriding agenda of marginalizing a particular group -- in this case, gun owning, constitution loving, small business owning, disaster prepared white americans.

Obama is a Muslim. He was raised Muslim, he adheres to Muslim beliefs, and he has openly stated his support for the Muslim religion and Muslim countries.

It matters because anyone who has actually spent a little time studying the Muslim religion, knows that it is a religion of bloodthirsty psychopaths.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Don't bother fighting them (you can't). Instead, do all you can to get out of the way of the self-destructive path that they are on — http://readynutrition.com/resources/52-weeks-to-preparedness-an-introduc... — and invite others you know to do the same.

The reality is that Progressivism = Liberalism + Fascism.

More specifically:

American Progressivism = Liberal Pretense + Fascist Motivation + Interventionist Policy

Whereas,

American Libertarianism = No Pretense + Liberal Motivation + Non-interventionist policy.

It’s about ideas – not factions.

The collection of ideas and policies driving the character devolution of Americans, like all ideas and policies, do have their adherents; but what can we call these particular believers given how they span all other factions? They could be any religion, race, party, nationality, etc. They include the Republican Party leadership (the Neocons), the Democratic Party leadership, and lots of other believers; but the most diligent and articulate believers tend to call themselves “progressives”, which is pretty historically accurate, so we use that term as well. I previously referred to believers as The Political Class, but the term “progressive” is much more common.

Looking at the words and actions of enough progressives, anyone can conclude that they champion two ideas, whether they realize it or not:

  1. Government rightly has the power to implement any good idea. (progressivism)
  2. When we are all on the same page, everyone benefits. (fascism)

Just talking with a wide variety of people in America, one can see that a large percentage, adhere to both of these two ideas, whether they realize it or not. Of course, believers seem even more numerous outside America, but I am merely a witness to the American manifestation.

The reality is that Progressivism = Liberalism + Fascism.
Progressivism is Liberal Fascism. More specifically liberalism is the pretense, fascism is the motivation, and interventionism is the policy. Every idea from American progressives can be described as interventionist. Therefore, the reality is that

People here are mixing up liberalism and progressivism. Generally they are different things. And yes, liberals are not authoritarians OBVIOUSLY...

There are people who call themselves liberals not understanding what it means, just as there are convservatives who do the same (at least in the traditional sense).

Liberalism (from the Latin liberalis)[1] is a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of liberty and equality.[2][3] Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but generally they support ideas such as free and fair electionscivil rights, freedom of the pressfreedom of religionfree trade, and private property.

Progressivism is a general political philosophy based on the idea of progress that asserts that advances in science, technology, economic development, and social organization, can improve the human condition.

I figure if I post the definitions enough eventually the drooling crowd will get it by osmosis.

In Progressivism, who gets to apply these 'advances' and who decides what they are? The people in a referendum or the party in power?

What are you talking about "who decides"??

Anyway, I cut the quote a bit early, maybe this'll help:

Progressivism originated during the Age of Enlightenment in Europe out of the belief that Europe was demonstrating that societies could progress in civility from barbaric conditions to civilization through strengthening the basis of empirical knowledge as the foundation of society.

You can define progressivism and liberalism anyway you like. The reality is how people define themselves and what their actual actions are. You can tell me the definition of liberalism but I can see what poeple who call themselves liberal are actually doing, and they as as authoritarian as it gets. We spend way to much time on definitions here and just because we identfy ourselves as something that a majority of people also proclaim themselves yet act differently than yourself proves only that labels have a very limited meaning. We are captured by these labels and they go a long way in obscuring what is happening. For all those who fell in love with an idea that was incapsulated in a word while in college, you have been hijacked. Stop wasting time defending the term and thereby defending the assholes that are destroying us. The only word that matters is freedom and that is a word we should know the meaning of in our heart, but of course they are busily trying to hijack it as well.

No you have missed my point. My point is that that whole idea that Liberalism gave birth to Progressivism is a flawed concept, and a highly flawed one at that. Progressivism was born from the mind's of Marxists that envisioned a way to get the masses to accept their desires. It was later morphed into Fabian Socialism, and then outright Progressivism. No one ever bothered to ask what they were progressing towards, and only one word needed to be said to make it clear: FORWARD!!!

Does Marijuana Really Kill Brain Cells?

"Smoking marijuana kills brain cells." If you have ever smoked marijuana you've probably heard this myth at some point or another. But you might not know the horrible origins of this dreadful lie.

It was Ronald Reagan who said "the most reliable scientific sources say permanent brain damage is one of the inevitable results of the use of marijuana." What were those reliable scientific sources you ask?

In 1974, Dr. Robert G. Heath, a researcher at Tulane University in New Orleans, reported that he had found proof that marijuana caused brain damage while experimenting on monkeys. Heath reported that rhesus monkeys smoking an equivalent of 30 joints a day began to atrophy and die after just 90 days. Autopsies revealed that the monkeys who had been exposed to the marijuana smoke had more dead brain cells than the control monkeys, who had not been exposed.

How did Heath come up with these results? What were his procedures? For six years, no one knew. It took Playboy and NORML six years of requesting and suing under the Freedom of Information Act to finally receive an accurate accounting of the procedures Heath used.

Four monkeys were strapped into chairs with transparent plastic boxes surrounding their heads. The head chamber was sealed so that the smoke being pumped in wouldn't be lost. This also meant that the carbon monoxide couldn't escape either. Instead of the 30-joints-a-day dosage that Heath had reported, the monkeys were given the equivalent of 63 joints in five minutes, every day, for three months.

The poor monkeys were being suffocated for five minutes at a time, on a daily basis, over a period of three months. After which they were killed so that their brains could be autopsied, and the dead brain cells caused by carbon monoxide poisoning were attributed to marijuana. This was Ronald Reagan's "reliable scientific" source.

Heath's experiments have since been criticized for insufficient sample size and failure to control other determining factors, such as the carbon monoxide poisoning. Similar experiments, involving more monkeys and better control, have since contradicted Heath's reported findings. But sadly, the lie based on his research is still used to frighten smokers today. And will most likely continue to be used until enough people know the truth.

It is not always wise to believe everything you read, so do the research yourself. Marijuana doesn't kill brain cells; lack of oxygen does, so everyone remember to breathe.

Actually, it doesn't directly kill brain cells, it merely prevents the liver from producing the enzymes required to trigger new braincell growth to replace the ones that would be dying naturally. It basically embalms you from the inside out.

No not always directly.  The real scientific study and analysis will observe the long term effects on the epigenome, thus functional phenotypical translation via epigenetic control mechanisms.

Most people are not aware that it takes years of pattern abuse before measurable effects can be openly seen and studied. That is why so many people drink for decades without even realizing how they are killing themselves by stunting the liver's ability to trigger new growth. Then again most people don't even know what the liver does...

Sat, 10/26/2013 - 18:26 | 4093994 Miffed Microbio...
Miffed Microbiologist's picture

Nidstyles, I'm a sporadically moderate drinker and I've used milk thistle seed when ever I drink. It has been studied to have good results for many liver conditions. Not saying a hard core alcoholic would have any real benefit. I've monitored my liver enzymes for years and they are still low normal so it may help. The liver is a fascinating organ. It hangs on until you are on the last 10% of function before symptoms like jaundice occurs.

http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/herb/milk-thistle

miffed;-)

Sun, 10/27/2013 - 02:39 | 4094586 NidStyles
NidStyles's picture

The liver can replace itself in 3 years if it is itself healthy and well provided for. It needs a large amount of water daily, and in fact requires the majority of the water intake that you imbibe daily. It's not so much a percentage that knocks it out of action, but over coming the organ's ability to repair itself to a great enough degree for a long enough period of time to actually kill it, which is when Jaundice kicks in and all of that mess that is essentially a death sentence.

The liver is the organ that supplies proteins and nutrients for the rest of your body to use to repair and maintain itself. It is the only organ that repairs itself.

As for Milk Thistle actually helping it, I could not say for certain. My advice is to just drink plenty of water and plenty of protein so that it can fix itself and keep the rest of the body together. Alcohol is no too big of an issue, so long as you are not boozing it up all day everyday. Binge drinking is the worst, as just when your liver get's back to being able to function somewhat normal, you destroy it some more so it can never really recover. Say drinking once a month is all I would say you can do without screwing yourself long term.

Sun, 10/27/2013 - 02:46 | 4094591 NidStyles
NidStyles's picture

Gah, some day the threading on this site will work properly.

The DNA alterations are a byproduct of your body having unsufficient resources to repair itself because of reduced liver function.

I have never been able to get any complete information on alcohol's effects on the brain. Of course too much will harm you, but I also heard that a small amount is good for you. I know it has good cardiovascular effects, but anything good for the brain? Do you know more about this?

Having said that, meth was available but only popular with truck drivers, and crack didn't exist yet.

If it hadn't been for the Columbian weed, the Windowpane, the Lebanese hash, the Thai sticks, the Magic Mushrooms (from Basil's farm) and the pharmaceuticals from my best friend's-dads' inventory, I wouldn't be the irreverant asshole I am today.
