What knocks me down s that there are still a huge number of Americans that support this guy in spite of his bald faced lies...what does that say about our society?   What worries me is as Obama and his administration keep making these extreme moves to illegaly consolidate power there will be some folks who won't stand for this radical change who might attempt to do something very stupid to stop it and then the powder keg will go off.

Obummer may achieve his dream and destroy this great country from the inside out.

As long as the dumbcrats don't control the House, that will be difficult to achieve. That includes all bills that have to go through both houses. But it is Fait Accompli as far as nominees are concerned since they only go through the Senate.

I'd be surprised if the democrats would let gun control be brought up - they'd probably lose several of their gang, and besides they don't want to take a demagoguery talking point off the table.  Much like race relations, war on poverty, etc.

So true. As a campaign issue, Universal Healthcare worked for the democrats. As an actual public policy, not so much. In the future, I predict they'll be more careful to keep good campaign issues as campaign issues. Like amnesty for illegals, as an example.

Thu, 11/21/2013 - 15:54 | 4178610 JR
JR's picture

Yes, capital confiscation and devaluations. That’s why Goldman Sachser cum Citigroupee Robert Rubin got a promise from Senator Barack Obama in 2008 that he would cut Social Security if elected president.

Why would Rubin want Obama to do that? It's because the nation’s on the verge of financial chaos with staggering levels of government debt and unfunded liabilities of state and local governments – debt owed to the bankers. And he wants his money.

Rubin wants to slash SS and Medicare payments to ensure that he and the other international bankers who own the nation’s crushing national debt load get paid back in real value, i.e., the people’s assets and labors. That’s how the bankers rob the people, by lending them their own credit on paper created out of nothing and then charging them usury (interest). But the usury has to be repaid in real value, i.e., by redistributing the people’s property to the bankers.

Treasurydirect.gov explains: “The deficit is the fiscal year difference between what the United States Government (Government) takes in from taxes and other revenues, called receipts, and the amount of money the Government spends, called outlays. The items included in the deficit are considered either on-budget or off-budget.

“You can think of the total debt as accumulated deficits plus accumulated off-budget surpluses. The on-budget deficits require the U.S. Treasury to borrow money to raise cash needed to keep the Government operating. We borrow by selling securities like Treasury bills, notes, bonds and savings bonds to the public.”

Bernanke has cranked up the QE spigots to fund Government debt and Wall Street, masking the inflation with ZIRP – i.e., by wiping out pensioners, decreasing the buying power of insurance policies, reducing wage purchasing power, crushing savers and taxing the “rich,” the victims.

And just who are the “rich.” Well, more than half of Americans polled in 2011 by Gallup said an income of no more than $150,000 would qualify that person as rich. “When asked how much money per year would be necessary for them to consider themselves ‘rich,’ 53 percent mentioned an income of $150,000 or less, and 71 percent said an income of $300,000 would be enough.”

That doesn’t bode well for the land of opportunity now under a collectivist state run by mob rule and international bankers who can vote themselves the treasury, i.e., your money.

I posted this on the other filibuster thread, but it's just as appropriate here too.

The world is run by sociopaths, and I have said time after time, that a sociopath by definition will sacrifice EVERYTHING to maintain their power. This is just another little microchasm of that truth. Sociopaths will sacrifise any law, constitution, govt, country, friend or family member to maintain their status, even if that only gains them a short term reprieve. It's all about the "here and now" and never a thought for the damage to the future. When that future damage comes, they will just violate another principle to desperately hold onto that status a little longer. It's the ultimate game of the law of diminishing returns for them. The only way to break them is revolultion, and sadly, we are a still a long way from the masses being ready for that. The masses will have to be starving in the streets before guillotines start rolling.

Thu, 11/21/2013 - 15:24 | 4178496 RockyR
RockyR's picture

take a hard look at the masses.  you don't want to go to war with them (alongside them).  free people have to accept what is now in the past, and look forward to what can be for them in the future.

Thu, 11/21/2013 - 15:29 | 4178520 SDShack
SDShack's picture

In every revolution, the masses have always been useful to those pulling the strings. The bottom line is the masses have to be led. Right now they are being led by sociopaths, but they will turn against their masters when they are hungry. That's the opportunity for free people to lead.

Thu, 11/21/2013 - 15:35 | 4178544 NotApplicable
NotApplicable's picture

Thing is, the sociopaths occupy all "sides." Revolution is their absolute wet-dream, as it upends ALL existing social structures, creating the vacuum which they will fill with their power to "rebuild" society.

The only real solution is to walk away. However, given a century of fedgov schooling, freedom has all but been bred out of the masses. Add to that, the Federal Reserve enslavement via currency debasement, creating millions dependent upon the scam, and well, there simply is no escape at this time.

Thu, 11/21/2013 - 21:27 | 4178602 SDShack
SDShack's picture

Respectfully disagree. The last thing a sociopath wants is revolution. A sociopath by definition fears losing their power, and revoultion is the single greatest threat to that power. Want proof? Why is the NSA spying on every citizen? Why has the IRS been empowered to coerce every citizen? Why is DHS stockpiling billions of rounds of ammo? It is precisely to guard against, prevent and quash any revolution, not foster it. There is no need for the sociopath to start a revolution to achieve their goals, because they have designed the system to use all the existing political, economic and security systems now to build it. Revolution destroys all that work. The only person that wants revolution to rebuild society is an anarchist, and anarchists always fail because all they do is create the power vacuum you say, and that is utimately filled by... you guessed it... sociopaths.

You are correct about all "sides" being dominated by sociopaths. The trick is for enough free people to rise up to drown out the sociopaths and control them. It can be done because sociopaths, although vocal, are still a minority. That's what a constitution is for, to control the sociopaths, but sadly ours is but a fragment of what those free people originally designed. But the bottom line is still the same. You point out all the enablers of sociopaths in controlling the masses, but we all know eventually the great ponzi will collapse. All corrupt societies do. So revolution is inevitable. The challenge for free people is to plan for it, and take advantage of it when it happens. The long term view is what is required, because it may be our children or grandchildren that ultimately will be the ones that rebuild the society.

The masses will sit on the sidelines during this revolution just as the 60% did in the last one.  What we are witnessing is a coup.  It is now time to Lock-N-Load.

I'll take 40% of the masses supporting the revolution with 60% of the masses sitting on the sidelines every day. Revolutions are won with FAR less than 40% support of the masses. Ultimately it is the security forces that decide which side to support. When they turn, sociopaths always lose...and lose violently.

SEN. HARRY REID (D-NV): "As majority leader, I intend to run the Senate with respect for the rules and for the minority rights the rules protect. The Senate was not established to be efficient. Sometimes the rules get in the way of efficiency. The Senate was established to make sure that minorities are protected. Majorities can always protect themselves, but minorities cannot. That is what the Senate is all about. For more than 200 years, the rules of the Senate have protected the American people, and rightfully so. The need to muster 60 votes in order to terminate Senate debate naturally frustrates the majority and oftentimes the minority. I am sure it will frustrate me when I assume the office of majority leader in a few weeks. But I recognize this requirement is a tool that serves the long-term interest of the Senate and the American people and our country."

"It's just a piece of paper"

Art 2 Sec 2 Cl 2

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

But that doesn't mean Harry Bunghole is above calling a midnight session of the Senate to pass one out.

Edit: As long as we're talking about Harry and the big game... it's actually to overturn the Supreme Court's precedent in Reid v. Covert, and then that midnight treaty option gets really interesting.

And what exactly IS a treaty under US law ?

"In the United States, the term "treaty" has a different, more restricted legal sense than exists in international law. U.S. law distinguishes what it calls treaties from executive agreement, congressional-executive agreements, and sole executive agreements. All four classes are equally treaties under international law; they are distinct only from the perspective of internal American law. The distinctions are primarily concerning their method of approval. Whereas treaties require advice and consent by two-thirds of the Senate, sole executive agreements may be executed by the President acting alone. Some treaties grant the President the authority to fill in the gaps with executive agreements, rather than additional treaties or protocols. And finally, congressional-executive agreements require majority approval by both the House and the Senate, either before or after the treaty is signed by the President.
Currently, international agreements are executed by executive agreement rather than treaties at a rate of 10:1. Despite the relative ease of executive agreements, the President still often chooses to pursue the formal treaty process over an executive agreement in order to gain congressional support on matters that require the Congress to pass implementing legislation or appropriate funds, and those agreements that impose long-term, complex legal obligations on the U.S."

I think the more interesting question (with respect to ATT) is--
What is a treaty under INTERNATIONAL law?

The ATT's amendment by majority issue and the undefined terms get a lot of press, but what doesn't get as much attention is that while the international TAXATION has been removed from the current version of the treaty. However, the framework and infrastructure to support future taxation remain in the treaty, which makes those undefined terms and simple amendment process much more troubling.

What the EUcrats in Brussels have achieved by Treaty could very well be the road-map certain parties are working from, other than the obvious independence from the "generosity" of member States (and the United States in particular).

Mr. President, yesterday morning I spoke here about a statement the Majority Leader issued calling the filibuster a “procedural gimmick.”

The Websters dictionary defines “gimmick” as – - “an ingenious new scheme or angle.” No Mr. President, the filibuster is not a scheme. And it is not new.

The filibuster is far from a “procedural gimmick.” It is part of the fabric of this institution. It was well known in colonial legislatures, and it is an integral part of our country’s 217 years of history.

...

And it is noteworthy that today the Congressional Black Caucus is opposed to the Nuclear Option.

...

For 200 years, we’ve had the right to extended debate. It’s not some “procedural gimmick.”

It’s within the vision of the Founding Fathers of our country. They established a government so that no one person – and no single party – could have total control.

Some in this Chamber want to throw out 217 years of Senate history in the quest for absolute power.

They want to do away with Mr. Smith coming to Washington.

They want to do away with the filibuster.

They think they are wiser than our Founding Fathers.

I doubt that’s true.
