"I Fear For What’s Coming" – 68% Of Americans Believe The Country Is On The Wrong Track

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Michael Snyder of The Economic Collapse blog,

Are you deeply concerned about the future of America?  Is something in your gut telling you that our system is fundamentally broken and that the mainstream media is not telling you the truth about what is happening?  If so, you are definitely not alone.  Right now, there are millions upon millions of Americans that are absolutely horrified as they watch this nation deteriorate.  In fact, according to an analysis of recent polling data conducted by Real Clear Politics, approximately 68 percent of all Americans believe that the country is on the wrong track and only 23.5 percent of all Americans believe that the country is on the right track.

And of course our problems did not appear just recently.  In fact, many of them are the result of decades of very foolish decisions and they are not going to be fixed easily.  Unfortunately, there is very little consensus among Americans about how to fix any of our problems.  There is more anger, frustration, hatred and division in the United States today than there has been in decades, and there is very little hope that the great storms that are looming on the horizon will be averted.  Those that are wise are preparing for what is coming.  Those that are not are going to be absolutely blindsided by what is rapidly approaching.

Once upon a time, America was the wealthiest nation on the entire globe by a huge margin and it had the largest and most thriving middle class the world had ever seen.  But now America is drowning in the biggest ocean of red ink in the history of the planet and the middle class is being systematically destroyed.

If you read my articles on a regular basis, you already know all of this.  But now there are certain factors that are going to cause the problems of the middle class to greatly accelerate.

For instance, just consider what Obamacare is going to do to millions of American families.

The Foundry recently posted a story that detailed the extreme hardship that Obamacare is going to impose on one middle class family in Sonora, California.  This particular family is very healthy and does not have a history of health problems.  Up until now, they have had a health insurance policy with Anthem Blue Cross Insurance that they have been very happy with.

Back in 2011, this family was paying $389 a month for health insurance.

In 2012, due to changes in California law that figure went up to $499 a month.

Now, this family has just received a letter informing them that their current plan is being canceled and that if they want a new plan it is going to cost them $1,252 a month.

Needless to say, that news did not go over very well with that family.

Just think about it.

Can you come up with an extra $753 a month for health insurance?

Most American families certainly cannot.

Well, Kate Joy and her husband sat down and started trying to figure out how they could squeeze the new health insurance policy into their budget.  It turned out that they would have to cut out a lot of things.  The following is a list of the proposed cuts that they have come up with so far...

  • Stop paying the extra payment on my mortgage: $100/month
  • Stop eating out: $150/month
  • Don’t go to the movies: $36/month
  • Switch to getting a haircut every other month: $15/month
  • Stop getting manicures: $40/month
  • Stop monthly charitable donations to Wounded Warrior and Habitat for Humanity: $70/month
  • Stop saving for an annual anniversary getaway: $60/month
  • No Christmas gifts to extended family: $40/month
  • Quit buying beef at the grocery store: $100/month
  • Teeth cleaning only once per year: $30/month
  • Cancel all magazine/newspaper subscriptions: at least $30/month
  • Cut DISH service to cheaper plan: $50/month
  • Cancel land line phone service: $70/month

If they make all of those cuts, it will save the family $791 a month.

Understandably, that family is having a very hard time feeling optimistic about the future right now.  In fact, at the end of the article Kate Joy is quoted as saying the following...

"I fear for what’s coming."

And of course her family is not the only one that is being absolutely hammered by Obamacare.

In a previous article, I discussed the results of one study which showed that health insurance premiums for men are going to go up by an average of 99 percent under Obamacare and health insurance premiums for women are going to go up by an average of 62 percent under Obamacare.

And a different study found that health insurance premiums for healthy 30-year-old men are going to go up by an average of 260 percent under Obamacare.

All of this is going to suck a tremendous amount of "discretionary income" out of the economy.

In addition, millions upon millions of Americans are going to make the choice to go without health insurance altogether.  And considering the level of care that we get in many of these hospitals that is understandable.  For example, the body of 57-year-old Lynne Spalding was recently discovered in a stairwell at San Francisco General Hospital 17 days after she had disappeared from her hospital room.

Those that provide our "health care" don't care about us as much as they did in the old days.  Instead, the health care industry just wants to get as much money out of us as rapidly as they can and then move on to the next victim.

And of course health care is not the only thing that middle class families have to be concerned about these days.  Our national employment crisis is getting even worse, incomes are shrinking, and Obama is pushing Congress to approve a secret treaty that will ship millions more of our jobs out of the country.

And there are certainly a lot of troubling economic signs as we head toward 2014.  Just consider the following examples...

-Pending home sales in the United States have fallen for five months in a row.

-Machinery giant Caterpillar is reporting negative retail sales growth in every region on the globe.  Historically, the sales growth of Caterpillar has been one of the most important indications of where the economy is headed next.

-Major banks are warning the Federal Reserve that they may have to start charging depositors a fee.  In other words, you may soon have to pay for the "privilege" of putting your money in the bank.

Of course this is just the beginning.  Things are going to get much, much worse in the years ahead as our economy continues to deteriorate.

And as things continue to fall apart, people are going to become a lot more desperate.  To get an idea of what is coming to America, just look at what is happening in Greece.  Some poor people in Greece have become so desperate that they are literally infecting themselves with HIV just so that they can get monthly government payments...

Suicides rose by 17% between 2007 and 2009 and to 25% in 2010, according to unofficial 2010 data (398). The Minister of Health reported a further 40% rise in the first half of 2011 compared with the same period in 2010. Suicide attempts have also increased, particularly among people reporting economic distress (610). Homicide and theft rates have doubled. HIV rates and heroin use have risen significantly, with about half of new HIV infections being self-inflicted to enable people to receive benefits of €700 per month and faster admission on to drug-substitution programmes. Prostitution has also risen, probably as a response to economic hardship. Health care access has declined as hospital budgets have been cut by about 40% (398) and it is estimated that 26 000 public health workers (9100 doctors) will lose their jobs (611). Further cuts are expected as a result of recent negotiations with the IMF and European Central Bank.

If you doubt this, you can find the original report with these findings right here.

A lot of people accuse me of being a "doom and gloomer" for writing articles like this.

A lot of people accuse me of trying to spread worry and fear.

But I do not see it that way at all.

I was recently asked what the number one issue is that has me so worried that it keeps me up at night.

Do you know what my answer was?

"Nothing."

Nothing that I write about keeps me up at night.

I am not worried about what is coming and I do not believe in giving in to fear.

Rather, I believe that there is hope in understanding what is happening, and I believe that there is hope in getting prepared.

Do you want to know who is going to be totally giving in to worry, fear and despair in the years ahead?

The people that are not getting prepared right now.

Do you want to know who is going to be jumping off the top of tall buildings in the years ahead?

The people that are laughing at articles like this one.

For most adults in America, they primarily define their lives by their jobs, their material possessions and by all of the toys that they have accumulated.  When those things get taken away, we are going to see a national hissy fit that is absolutely unprecedented.

The Republicans are not going to save us from the storm that is coming and neither are the Democrats.

It is coming.

Obamacare is just a chunk of the iceberg the U.S.S.A. Titanic is steaming towards.

It may be the sharp underwater wedge that pierces the hull, or the icy cap some see from the crow's nest.

The largest part of the iceberg is the rampant greed, graft, and corruption of Washington and Wall Street and leaders who care not one whit about the families and individuals scraping by on Main Street.

I'm no fan of OWS - especially seeing as they were coopted early by Obama and SEIU, Soros, etc but, isn't he right?

It's the politicians.  It's the corporations.  It's the lawyers.  It's the bankers.   It's all of them, and WE let them get away with it.

Well, not we but 'we the people'.

But, I get it, the whole banker thing gets boring.

And...when the leaders and captains of industry and government are the biggest parasites, it is hard to blame the masses for following their examples.

Tyler Durden: In the world I see - you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway.

"Average American=Idiot"

Please to be corrected Tsar.

Show some compassion. The average American is a mind-kontroled slave. Babylon has used the TV drug for decades to form and mold the American thinker into a follower drone slave. It is the same commie carp they teach in all the schools these days. You see sir, they only want followers and slaves, and no real thinkers or innovators. Just shut up and pay your bills to the money-god.

Sadly, the entire world has been the victim of this mind-kontrol for decades. In this time, 79% of the world's slaves are all still accepting and actually believing what the TV drug says. THIS is the problem. If all the TV govt propaganda networks and newspaper rags were suddenly taken over by real reporters and real truth sayers, and only real news like you find here on ZH was transmitted, how long do you think the corruption and criminality that has blatantly slapped every world soul in the face for so long would last? How long would the tyrants be tolerated by the insanely angry mobs of the world's people?

Hummm...things to ponder.

Thank you for playing through.

About 50% making halfway decent paychecks with some job security think things are booming, the other 50% don't.  I work with a lot of people making decent paychecks and its about split... for younger workers with the decent paycheck situation... the 4 year college types are a bit arrogant and seem clueless about how bad it is and seem to think they are unique and special rather than just plain lucky they even have a job, the trades type younger people with decent paycheck aren't quite so blind

Couldn't agree more. I just lost my well paying job this last week.  One of the "keepers" surviving the round of layoffs was a new kid -fresh out of college- making 30 % less than I was. He was a good kid but definitely clueless about how bad the job market is. In time his poor ass will be next.  My only saving grace is that I have had a very viable business on the side. This will enable me and the wife to continue to make ends meet - albeit with a bit of belt tightening.

First, get the hell out of California, you don't need to go to Mexico.  Liquidate everything, move to a small town in the south so you don't freeze.  Let any money you earn be under the table, then you will be able to get a food subsidy, free obama phone and free health care. Starve the beast.

Them thar city folks really live high on the hog. Most are just to modernly hooked on the pipe dreams of "change" and an ipod or TV. Most only care about what appeals to the daily appetite in flesh, or food, or some other WANT. Most would not know how to plant a garden, most are too lazy to stick with it, ignorance is a comfort zone, and many will perish trying to get out of the big cities as this ship goes down. What is going to happen when all those wants are gone, and there is NOTHING left to want?

A few small modifications:

  • Put an old analog TV antenna on roof and aim it to optimize free reception of PBS (pretty much the only stations worth watching) and the major networks
  • Do all your own auto maintenance and make your vehicles last 250K miles (at least)
  • Hunt for your own meat
  • Don't be afraid to buy marked down groceries
  • Buy a freezer and keep it loaded (have a backup inverter/generator for power outages)
  • Grow what you can
  • Carry no debt
  • Buy PMs
  • Buy bullets (when available)
  • Burn wood (harvest from the curb when a neighbor cuts down a hardwood tree)
  • Replace your roof with a metal one; put it on yourself and save
  • Ride a bicycle when possible
  • Help your neighbors

  • Teeth cleaning only once per year: $30/month (brush/floss/mouthwash twice a day and you'll save an additional $30/month)
  • Cancel all magazine/newspaper subscriptions: at least $30/month (library is free and it gets you out of your underwater home)
  • Cut DISH service to cheaper plan: $50/month (is there really anything worthwhile to watch anyway)

That's fine.  Shows great character strength.  Sacrifice for the future.  but this isn't going to be a world that allows you to live in it.  It is going to be a repeat of history - when the people's belongs are stolen, their country's treasures are pilfered and debt in the form of taxes are hiking so high, you'll see 1 dollar out of every 100.00 dollars, there is nothing left except turn them into slaves or bury them.  The "death to America" chant is not coming out of the mouths of anyone but the bankers and their paid assassins (the terrorists).

Americans will be erased off the face of the earth and their belongs and land redistributed throughout the globe to the new leader - COMMUNIST CHINA who will bring their products to the table priced out of reach, ensuring every 1st world nation is now at the mercy of it's corrupt control.

Folks know that something is terribly wrong in our world, but the lesser informed can never know, never put their finger on it because they are too busy struggling to get by, feed their families, pay that overdue bill, charge the gas and electric back up, to ever have the time to inform themselves as most here have.

Count yourselves the lucky ones, at least we know, and why things are going down faster, day by day, week by week.  Not everyone of us hard bitchez has either the mental fortitude, or knowhow to learn things they rather wouldnt, or cant comprehend, fuck me, at one point I didnt.

People are waking up as we fucking type our hatred of the system, and they are learning as best they can.  Dont be hating for hating sakes.  People have to start somewhere for fucks sake.

Obama's election was "historical". The first black man becoming president, and everyone showing how cool and tolerant and enlightened they are by voting for him.  I knew many whites that did for that very reason (aside from the regular base of the gimme-dats voters).

The media, liberals and young were in a veritable cream-fest once he won. Tears and all, if you remember.

    Good morning Mr. Phelps.

Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to formulate a list in a place, or in a story that many and all can add their light/knowledge to, with all the different and REAL actions that can be taken to solve the USA's present problems today. WHAT ARE THE ACTUAL DOABLE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS?

Given this list of solutions that should be carved in stone, any caring individual can focus all their energies towards these new goals, if not at least pray for them to manifest.

What I consider The Heart of this regarding

"THE ACTUAL DOABLE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS?"

Since the actual problems are not understood by the majority of people living in the Anglo-American world, and they have been conditioned to NOT WANT TO UNDERSTAND, there are NONE possible, at the present time.

I come to read Zero Hedge because it is the best Web site that I am aware of that covers its favourite topics. However, I can not tell the degree to which the Tylers know better, but refrain from saying so more directly, and similarly, I can not tell the degree to which the contributing authors also know better, but refrain from saying so. I suspect that they do know better, but have practical reasons to approach the issues in the ways that they do.

For instance, I would compare the articles of George Washington to those of Michael Snyder. Both produce excellent articles, well worth reading, backed up with links to sources. However, in my view both deliberately skate fast over thin ice, in order to not end up falling through into freezing water, which could kill off their relative popularity. This article above illustrates that by stating that the problems that North Americans face were "the result of decades of very foolish decisions." Similarly, some of George Washington's articles also present the current problems as being the result of "stupidity" or "incompetence."  Indeed, the vast majority of articles on Zero Hedge, that still tend to be worthwhile to read none the less, all appear to (deliberately I believe) avoid facing the deeper realities, (which I have the hunch that they already are aware of.)

The problems which Americans have are the problems which are fundamental to the structure of Neolithic Civilization. America was produced by that history, being transplanted to North America, from the Middle East, through Europe. What is happening is that the basic social pyramid systems, based on backing up lies with violence, in order to control the vast majority of people by keeping them ignorant and afraid, is the foundation of the entire social system. Thus, the problems that Americans face are the ways that government is organized crime, controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals. Those basic facts have been on a runaway exponential growth. Those problems have been magnified many orders of magnitude by advances in science and technology being applied to become better at being dishonest, and to back that up with more violence. Therefore, the problems that Americans face are trillions of times worse than ever before in human history.

"THE ACTUAL DOABLE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS" would require enough people understanding those problems, that the government of the USA, (as well as all other countries, to differing degrees) have become almost 100% based on huge legalized lies, backed by lots of legalized violence, because those governments are controlled through the application of the methods of organized crime, and indeed, those governments emerged from the history of organized crime, as warfare.

"THE ACTUAL DOABLE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS" would require enough people understanding those problems in ways which took them through a series of profound paradigm shifts in the ways that they understand the world ... which processes currently appear to require a series of political miracles so prodigious as to appear practically impossible. However, nothing less could provide sufficient understanding to enable "THE ACTUAL DOABLE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS."

The basic problems that Americans face are that they have been more and more adapting to live inside of systems of ENFORCED LEGALIZED LIES. The monetary system is the most pervasive of those, and that has spread throughout all the other social systems. More radical truths about that situation travels through almost infinite tunnels of deceits, where the lies are different at every level, and therefore, stopping at any one level of those lies tends to not be enough to provide better solutions.

The problems that Americans face are not merely due to politicians nor the public stupidly making foolishly incompetent decisions. The problems are due to the systematic and persistent application of the methods of organized crime to control the government, which has been going on for many generations, and indeed, goes back in time as far as one looks. Therefore, "THE ACTUAL DOABLE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS" would require enough Americans understanding those problems, enough to respond effectively. There would have to be sufficient intellectual scientific revolutions that understood how and why their government became organized crime, controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals, which has resulted in their lives being controlled by force backed frauds.

The SOURCE of the problems that Americans face is the degree to which their lives are controlled by ENFORCED LEGALIZED LIES! The consequences of generation after generation adapting to live inside of systems of legalized lies were that the whole society became increasingly insane, since those lies were never made to become true by their enforcement, but nevertheless, their lives were built on that foundation, such as how our faith-based "money" has become our state religion, as the single most important way that worked. "THE ACTUAL DOABLE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS" would require enough people understanding those problems. However, in my view, the public space, even on Zero Hedge, does not yet do that. However, the pressure of public events is driving more and more people in that direction.

For instance, an article by George Washington:

    http://www.zerohedge.com/contributed/2013-11-24/americans-are-finally-learning-about-false-flag-terror

Americans Are Finally Learning About False Flag Terror

In that context, "THE ACTUAL DOABLE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS" would take enough Americans effectively, with more scientific objectivity, understanding that American history has been full of false flag events, the most salient of which were those on 9/11/2001. Similarly, the political economy problems that Americans have could not be resolved any better unless enough of them understood the degree to which an international banking cartel has been able to apply the methods of organized crime through the political processes in order to take control over the public money supply.

"THE ACTUAL DOABLE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS" are not possible unless enough people understand how and why that happened in deep enough ways to respond with scientifically valid sets of solutions. Nothing will be gained if, after partially understanding those problems, the proposed solutions are still based on false fundamental dichotomies, and going backwards to the impossible ideals of old-fashioned religions or ideologies, which is what most people who do partially understand those problems still continue to propose.

"THE ACTUAL DOABLE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS" WOULD REQUIRE ENOUGH PEOPLE UNDERSTANDING THAT THEIR GOVERNMENT IS ORGANIZED CRIMES, CONTROLLED BY THE BEST ORGANIZED GANGS OF CRIMINALS, IN WHICH CONTEXT THE VAST MAJORITY OF "WE THE PEOPLE" ARE  MEMBERS OF AN ORGANIZED CRIME GANG, WHICH HAVE BECOME INCOMPETENT POLITICAL IDIOTS, BECAUSE THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT, BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN CONDITIONS TO NOT WANT TO UNDERSTAND. THAT IS THE KIND OF INTELLECTUAL SCIENTIFIC REVOLUTION WHICH THE WORLD NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO GENERATE "THE ACTUAL DOABLE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS!"

You know, you should really set up your own blog, and shamelessly promote it on ZH.

What you say is so utterly important, and touches the keystone of what everyone on ZH secretly (or not so secretly) believes.

The advantage of your own blog is that YOU own the fonts...  I think that your most important thoughts should be highlighted to the max (I personally love the flashing, or even alternate flashing colours), so that you can identify and promote your most cogent thought!

Lesser thoughts need only be a different colour, bold, italic, ALLCAPS, whatever - the important thing is that YOU own the message. YOU can dictate what the reader's eye is immediately drawn to, and YOU can allocate the relative importance of your thoughts.

Never fear, you have the support of an enormous number of ZH readers and contributors, and by creating your own blog, YOU will make your permanent mark upon history, in these dark days.

Think about it!  Talk with your friends!  It is not hard to do, and you might find an inner peace and happiness as  a result.

Your thoughts are precious to most of us on ZH.

    Thanks for the encouragement, spdrdr!

I know that I tend to repeat myself too much, which may get boring, but in the context of comments on Zero Hedge, most people only happen to occasionally glance at it once.

Rather than run my own blog, I run my own fringe political party, the Marijuana Party of Canada. One of the reasons that I do that is that I regard Hemp Truth as being the single simplest symbol, and the most extreme particular example of everything that I just said in my reply to The Heart above.

That is also an area where the tide appears to be turning. Not that long ago, the majority of people believed the lies that were the basis of the marijuana laws. However, this year, we reached the tipping point in that respect:

    http://www.gallup.com/poll/165539/first-time-americans-favor-legalizing-marijuana.aspx

For First Time, Americans Favor Legalizing Marijuana

Support surged 10 percentage points in past year, to 58%

By Art Swift, October 22, 2013.

The same thing has happened in Canada, where the majority of Canadians used to be a few years ahead of the American public opinion on that topic, but not so much now. That has produced an interesting contradiction where the governments of Canada and the USA continue to escalate the war against marijuana, while that no longer has the support of the public. Therefore, pot prohibition looks like it is heading towards some kind of psychotic breakdown, which I regard as a small component of the psychotic breakdowns of the bigger systems, which are similarly based on legalized lies, backed by legalized violence, like the marijuana laws, except, of course, the way that manifests in through the laws controlling the monetary and taxation systems are many orders of magnitude more important than the marijuana laws. But nevertheless, after people wake up to the ways that the authorities have been lying to them about one thing, then they are way more willing and able to consider what else the authorities have also been lying about (which turns out to be almost everything else.)

So anyway, rather than run my own blog, I run my own political party, which is positioned to try to surf the tsunamis coming at us ... (although, honestly, I expect to get wiped out, but ... what the hell, I am along for the ride anyway ...)

There is only one solution.  War with the banks.  That means all the military brass that has been replaced with those loyal to the globalist's agenda should be sent into prison and the ones who have been deemed as "against us" put back into position and turn the military force upon NATO, UN, IMF, the whole Jesuits whoever the fuck they are and the zionists who are so isolated in their country clubs and "stately homes" they think they can pull this off without ending up on a rope.

The Banks Vs The People of The World

    or

    Slavery and misery

    You decide.

If you want to hire your army and law enforcement back from the banks, perhaps it's time for some thought as to what the US citizens can gather up together and present to them as payment.  When this war is won, the gold should have been confiscated to pay off the creditors including China, buy back America and what is left can be redistributed accordingly.

    That is the only solution.

The issue which has swept down the centuries and which will have to be fought sooner or later is the people versus the banks.

    --- Lord Acton

As Bill Still reviewed American history in his 3 hour documentary,

    The Money Masters:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfpO-WBz_mw

American history is interesting because the American People had won some battles against the international bankers in the past, especially in the example of President Andrew Jackson!

    P.S.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0HO5YyIve0#t=64

Still Report #131 -- Fed Hides Trillions?

The mind boggling trillions and trillions of dollars that the Federal Reserve Board have been able to steal from the American People, and then use a even more leverage against the People, to invest the profits from fraud in more frauds IS THE PRIMARY REASON WHY THE FUTURE LOOKS BLEAK FOR THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS, WHILE A TINY MINORITY AT THE TOP OF THAT SOCIAL PYRAMID SYSTEM ARE DOING FANTASTICALLY BETTER!

There is no doubt that "The Banks Vs The People of The World" is the most important struggle, and the core of that has been the history of the funding of the political processes, which I why I have worked more on the funding of politics than any other problem, including two court cases against the government of Canada over the issues of the laws that control the funding of political parties in Canada. However, my experiences there have only confirmed that the established systems are almost totally corrupt, since after I won my first court case, the government responded by changing the elections laws in ways which made their previous lies become the legal truth. Governments tend to get away with being arrogantly dishonest, and even proving that they did that in a court of law does not really change that, since they still have the power to change the laws, and thereby CAN LEGALIZE THEIR LIES.

Fighting against an entrenched system of legalized lies, backed by legalized violence, is an extremely lopsided fight, but we still must try.

Fund the wars in exchange for America.  That is the deal.  The collapse of America is not going to end with anything more than everyone being a slave due to taxes depleting income to unlivable amount - They will be working for nothing while paying off the future tax burden and living off the land now owned by a foreign investor.  It's an equation - Overthrow a govt by indebting it.  When the central banks are ready to turn their backs on this sorry excuse for a country, the cameras will stop rolling and the "American Guilt" begins.

What they lack in the educational process, is the real hands on EXPERIENCING of the spiritual world. You CAN NOT LEARN about true spirituality in the modern churches where all the false prophets are. You have to learn all about it on your own. Follow a Shaman's path.

I agree, The Heart, that we should "Follow a Shaman's path."

However, to do that more effectively now, we should attempt to reconcile ancient mysticism within postmodernizing sciences. With respect to "FOCUS ALL LIFE FORCES," the beginnings of the modern concept of energy can be traced back to Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz, who thought of energy as "the life force."

However, we still are taught about that in paradoxical, mostly backwards ways, through the use of false fundamental dichotomies, which flatly contradict the concept of energy, at face value, because the biggest bullies' bullshit social stories have been dominated all human enterprises, including the philosophy of science.

    E.g., see this BBC documentary:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LepM8m-O1BM&feature=c4-overview-vl&list=PLsSwK-WDBuoOO6Gsgx1-G18GxnGybLdyB

    Order and Disorder - ENERGY

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNGa9IfRzM4

    Order and Disorder 2/2.

I REPEAT that we are taught to understand the concept of entropy backwards, because that plays into the hand of the biggest bullies, who operate through a Bizarro Mirror World. Therefore, the biggest, and best organized, gangs of criminals call themselves governments, and bankers that control those governments. In that context all the state religions and most ideologies are controlled opposition, "the modern churches where all the false prophets are."

I have some very poignant ideas about survival, aside from the usual gold, guns and grub.

Be self-sufficient - aside from a few years in the late 90s (wasted, in my view), I have worked for ME since 1982.

    Be resourceful.

Be informed; never stop learning new things (god bless Al Gore for inventing the internet)

Always be helpful to others less informed or less capable (never know when you'll need a helping hand).

Prepare for the worst, and whatever occurs will seem good.

Don't worry. Everything eventually sorts itself out.

I don't know if it is true, but I have read that the "enrollment period" is only once a year, or something like that, so you also might need some kind of very-short-term catastrophic-care-only policy (in my thinking) [assuming this is still legal in the new normal].

They will probably make short-term policies illegal. But $1252 * 12 = $15024 per year. If someone just put that $15k/year savings into extra home payments, then over the course of 20 years, they would save more than $300K. And if someone needed really expensive emergency treatment, they they could always sign up at the next enrollment period and then declare bankruptcy for whatever bills had already been run up.

From age 25 to age 50, I never saw a doctor even once. And since then, I've only visited a doctor a couple of times for minor stuff. Actually, I wouldn't even have gone those times it the cost hadn't been mainly covered by my employer's health plan. I personally would just risk going without insurance in that age range. Paying $1252/mo for an insurance policy just isn't worth it if you are young and healthy.

Another General Speaks Out: "America Has Come To A Crossroads..."

America is imploding and we are at a critical crossroads. It is now obvious; from the ObamaCare debacle, to the myriad scandals, to our ever burgeoning debt, to the neutering of our world power status, to the rise of our enemies, and the demise of our allies’ trust in America; implosion is imminent.

Obama has taken the seeds of our demise, planted by progressives for over a century now, and amplified their growth at an astonishing rate. We are in a death spiral in terms of whom and what America is, was, and will become. Our ‘exceptionalism’ is the first casualty; we are imploding from within as past Soviet leaders predicted would be the only way we could be vanquished.

Well. Not one person has replied. I don't bite and always try to be a good person. And I love cats and I don't lie. Yes, it's very difficult living in this world surrounded by zombies. All of these here highly-educated, high-income males who live alone, and not one of them has answered my plea. Have all the decent people of the world been killed or made too scared to email a decent stranger who is clearly in need?

It's really not that difficult to extract my email from the PGP key posted here. And it's OK if you don't want to use PGP. And I really don't care what your handle here is, if any of the tech stuff too intimidating. Try wait, maybe it's ME who is intimidating because I show off my knowledge. But that's the whole Fight Club meme, and it's not me, or at least not always.

Let's try this again, please. And I'm gonna keep at it until I get at least one genuine response. I'm not just repeating the exact same post over and over again. It will keep changing and will be reposted until I get a civil answer. Mahalo!

Inmate of open-air prison run by lunatics and populated almost entirely by zombies is desperately seeking a pen-pal ... because Aldous Huxley gave someone to Winston Smith.

For mutual support in these trying times, am seeking fellow non-zombie intelligent, open-minded, and well-informed inmate for discussing topics of mutual interest, such as:

    1. Both actual and notional nuclear accidents, and nuclear technology of all sorts. Is nuclear safety always an oxymoron? I'd love to find a fellow atomic scientist here, as in Bull. Atom. Sci.;

    2. Same as it ever was. “Kill the man, kill the problem,” Joe Stalin. Change is a process, not an event. Chicken Little has always been wrong, so why not now?;

    3. Same as it ever was. Bankers v. The People is nothing new. In 1833 Andrew Jackson took on and succeeded in killing the Second Bank of the United States. In 1963 JFK took on the Fed and was killed. The bankers will do “whatever it takes” to keep it going as long as possible;

    4. Same as it ever was. Historical Revisionism of WW1 and WW2 as a battle of valiant truth-telling historians versus the plush OSS/CIA myth-telling “historians” as waged notably by the largely, and very sadly, forgotten Harry Elmer Barnes, 1889–1968. Many brave souls such as he have seen history through the lens of The Truth is First Casualty of War and lived to tell the tale, or at least published before their death. Big Mahalo to the CIA for renaming the quaint (and hifalutin) pre-JFK historical revisionism into the much more catchy (and contempo) conspiracy theory;

    5. Same as it ever was. John Kenneth Galbraith 1975 Money: Whence it Came, Where it Went about the Capitalist Crisis as predicted by Karl Marx. Four decades later and still going?;

    6. Same as it ever was. George Orwell's intended title for his most famous book was “1948,” its year of completion, nuff said. 1984, Alice in Wonderland, and The Wizard of Oz as works of history – and Newspeak, shunning, straw man, murder, etc., as (largely) effective social controls;

    7. zerohedge.com as an island of sanity, albeit very sadly wholly lacking in collegiality; and, most importantly,

    8. weaknesses in the open-air prison system which might allow its escape and/or subversion, because a mind is a terrible thing to waste.
