White (And Black) Men Can't...Work
There is the full-time vs part-time jobs debacle, the questions over job-quality, the "no country for young workers" problem, and Bernanke's "born-again jobs scam," but nowhere is the real 'recovery' in American jobs less evident than in the actual number of employed males...
(h/t @Not_Jim_Cramer)
Tomorrow's non-farm-payrolls data is once again the most important (and noise-prone manipulated) data item in the world - but few (aside from us) will be paying attention to the ongoing plunge in the labor force...

Let me tell a story, this one is about AFRICA it was 20 years ago and I went on extensive personal safari across AFRICA,
Every village I went through was the same poverty, misery and death.
But the most common question or comment I got was this ..
"I have expended my familys fortune, I am educated, I can speak english, I did everything the missionarys said that I needed to do to have a better life, but my life of myself and my family have not improved, the only job for people such as myself is 'tourism', but there are no tourists"
What struck me is that they people had been SOLD education as salvation, but in TRUTH only the schools WHO looted the familys make money.

Good ZH article on education today and how it is a fraud.

Thanks tylers for posting an article about JOBS, too bad nobody is interested in a solution to the problem.
You may have opinions of a bit of a wing-nut. But in many ways I agree.
Yes, I been to Africa many times in the last 20 years. Poverty, living in dirt floor huts. Shocking to behold.
But you know what, out in the bush they really are happy people enjoying the miserable life they have.
Why?
I dunno, mebbe because they don't know about or have stuff.
It's all relative.
ahh grasshopper, I just said that the people who go 'educated' and expended the family fortune were miserable,
on the other hand the natives that just lived, and did the same as their ancestors were happier than shit,
Hell there are beautiful topless women in every direction, with the biggest natural tits I have seen in my life,
Most of the bucks (men) are getting 5+ different women a day (AIDS ASTRO)
Yes, shocking to behold how happy people can be when they only have food, family, and love. Shocking that people can be happy without TV, computer, and internet.
Fucking god damn shocking.
This only, and would make a lot more sense, if we included the chart of women in the work force.
Of course they've soaked up some of the male number, too.
But not that much.

Book mark above link. Just helping you understand future Central Planning wet dreams. Many will go into hiding or get killed off by the system they supported. Another decade plan will hatch itself.
Is that males over 20, or males 20 to 65?
Cuz if it counts males over 65 it just reflects mostly non-working longevity.
Which is still interesting, cuz even grandpa gotta eat, and he may still want to steal that greeter job from his grandson, but it reads a little different then.
If you grew up on a working farm you can do oilfield work. I unloaded produce trailers midnight to noon five day weeks while in college for a summer. Those loads aren't on skids and that is what we did. Not an ounce of fat on me and two of us with one other hi lo driver could unload and palletize a semi trailer of produce in an hour and twenty one case or bag at a time. That was work and hot, heavy and sometimes dirty. Cooking for a living was work but not physical like that. As Executive Chef you manage people, budgets, equipment , kitchen cleanliness, health inspections and keeping club members or patrons happy. Selling for a living whole new set of skills. All work. I will always remember a Readers Digest cartoon I saw maybe 30 years ago. It showed an office tower with a woman inside holding up a poster that said "It's 70 degrees in here" to a construction worker working on a new building nextdoor. He held up a piece of cardboard back to her that said "it is 18 dollars an hour out here. Enough said. The wage scale accomodates that thing generally regarding workplace conditions though for the life of me I don't know how the 20 something librarian makes over 70k a year with her library sciences degree. Not a science to me though maybe I am too old school.
Let's see dirty jobs that pay good money and live in places that are cold and dirty.
Or go un-employed, and try to find a job in a clean place that pay's like shit,...
I think for once today, I think ZH can close this case we have affirmed today,... that
1.) there still are jobs
2.) That the majority on ZH are whiners and complainers,
3.) That most people here don't like cold or dirt
4.) That the people here would rather be comfy, that comfortable, e.g. not to worry about money.
The majority here typifies the US situation and the nature of the FSA(free shit army), the good news is that when HILLARY becomes prez, there will be no internet at the FEMA camp, which means the rest of us have something to look forward too.
you make it sound hopeless. what if they double the minimum wage? Funny funny
With 3 billions of people in BRIC and Turkey start working, developed countries will enter 'recession' for hundreds years.
Crap. Earlier tonite listened to 2 young ski instructors in the NC Mtns bitchin about pay. There are 5-6 people waiting for their jobs if they quit. They get less than they did last year but that's their problem. Get an education, learn a trade and get the hell out of a Dodge where you can't earn a living. Then come back when you can afford to.
Geez.
NC ski instructors? LOL! Sort of like golf pros at the local pitch N putt. Tell them to take it to a real mountain if they can cut it. That whole industry is for ski bums who get second jobs and do it so they can go skiing every day.
Wish I could go skiing every day, how cool is that!
Who is included? Is a 75 year old man included in the 20 years and older males group. If thats the case the labour participation rate could be declining because of changes in the demographic.
Let the robots do the work and let me live off the wealth of overthrown oligarchs and imprisoned bankers.
The problem with young American males is their attitude of self-entitlement to employment. No, you aren't entitled to have a job. You have to prepare yourself to become employable, and then beat the pavement to find that job. Then upon getting that job you need to have an attitude of putting in your best effort regardless of the pay. If the pay is too low, don't complain, just keep looking while still putting in your best effort. Unfortunately, it will take a paradigm shift in attitude before young Americans realize they aren't entitled.
